    Opis:
    Peter Teilhard de Chardin was a French researcher of prehistoric man and a creator of an original evolutionist system. He distinguished the following basic stages of human growth: somatic, psychological, cultural and spiritual. Although they are different developmental stages, when taken together, they account for the history of humanity. The originality and the relevance of Teilhard de Chardin's thought is emphasized, among others by Cz. S. Bartnik. The latter researcher stresses that for de Chardin, the past does not mean decline, but climbing from the abyss to the top, like in the Alpha-to-Omega Point progress. The past ceases to be regarded as a cursed Moloch, but it starts to be seen a blessed giver of life, unswervingly actualizing the gift of creation. Thus, it seems that the growth of the human being is not endangered by stagnation or exhaustion. Hominization is continuously going on. Humanity evolves as a genre. It is human duty to get to know human nature. The bottom line is not to merely learn about the development stages of humanity, but first and foremost, it is to improve, to be more and more human, up to the ultimate of human growth.

    Opis:
    This paper deals with the connection between the origin of the human race and the evolving universe in the works of Teilhard de Chardin, the French thinker analysed this problem from different points of view: scientific, philosophical and theological, showing its different aspects.The results of his reflections on this topic form a system of thought in which Teilhard tried to explain the mystery of man and the universe, the main concept of this system is the evolution of the whole universe from a material into a spiritual reality. Part of this cosmic evolutionary process is also the origin of the human race (considered by Teilhard as a species of living creatures and only accidentally as individual human beings). Creation of the world and man according to Teilhard is also a continual process in which God uses the natural law of evolution. Man is the best part and the summit of this cosmic process, the human race has been craeted by God as one philum (monophiletism) and not as a couple (Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden) or many phila (poliphiletism). While creating human souls, God also uses the material elements of the world, sublimating them into spirit, these opinions created many problems for the Catholic Church and were not accepted. Teilhardian analyses of the future of the universe and mankind are very interesting and inspiring and have been used by many modern thinkers. Teilhard wrote about one global society united by science and technology (globalisation). In the future people will also form one sphere of human spirit, the sphere of common information (noosphere). Eschatologically, the whole universe along with the human race will be united with God as the mover and final cause of the cosmic evolution (its point Alpha and Omega).The end of the history of all created reality will be the transformation into spiritual reality of the Cosmic Christ, thus anthropogenesis will be fulfilled in cosmogenesis and finally in Christogenesis.

    Teorię ewolucji opisującą proces, który trwa nieustannie w historii Ziemi, mogą podważać tylko ci, którzy nie znają danych empirycznych lub po prostu nie akceptują ich z powodu oporów emocjonalnych czy też zwykłej bigoterii. Niemniej mechanizmy, które odpowiadają za ewolucję, z pewnością wymagają dalszych badań i wyjaśnień. Nie ma dla teorii ewolucji żadnych alternatyw, które mogłyby się oprzeć krytyce. Nieustannie dowiadujemy się o nowych i ważnych faktach, które poszerzają naszą wiedzę na temat mechanizmów ewolucji. To zdumiewające, że ponad sto lat temu Karol Darwin był w stanie tak wiele powiedzieć na temat ewolucji, nie znając kluczowych faktów, o których wiemy dziś. Trwający od początku dwudziestego wieku rozwój genetyki — zwłaszcza genetyki molekularnej, której rozkwit nastąpił w ostatnich dwóch dekadach — dostarczył informacji niezbędnych do zrozumienia mechanizmów ewolucji. Nadal jest jednak wiele do odkrycia i musimy się jeszcze wiele nauczyć. Ta myśl jest na pewno pokrzepiająca i inspirująca dla każdego ceniącego się naukowca. Wyobraźmy sobie, że wszystko już wiemy i że nauka nie ma już nic odkrycia — cóż to za koszmar! Czy teoria ewolucji znajduje się w konflikcie z wiarą religijną? Skądże. Nie należy mylić Pisma Świętego z podstawowymi podręcznikami astronomii, geologii, biologii i antropologii. Jeżeli bowiem w danych symbolach poszukujemy tego, czego poszukiwać w nich nie powinniśmy, to tworzymy wyimaginowane i nierozwiązywalne konflikty.
    Evolution as a process that has always gone on in the history of the earth can be doubted only by those who are ignorant of the evidence or are resistant to evidence, owing to emotional blocks or to plain bigotry. By contrast, the mechanisms that bring evolution about certainly need study and clarification. There are no alternatives to evolution as history that can withstand critical examination. Yet we are constantly learning new and important facts about evolutionary mechanisms. It is remarkable that more than a century ago Darwin was able to discern so much about evolution without having available to him the key facts discovered since. The development of genetics after 1900 — especially of molecular genetics, in the last two decades — has provided information essential to the understanding of evolutionary mechanisms. But much is in doubt and much remains to be learned. This is heartening and inspiring for any scientist worth his salt. Imagine that everything is completely known and that science has nothing more to discover: what a nightmare! Does the evolutionary doctrine clash with religious faith? It does not. It is a blunder to mistake the Holy Scriptures for elementary textbooks of astronomy, geology, biology, and anthropology. Only if symbols are construed to mean what they are not intended to mean can there arise imaginary, insoluble conflicts.
