    Opis:
    The article attempts to determine the usefulness of the concept of resourcefulness for research in the field of social history of the People’s Republic of Poland. On the basis of examples concerning problems with provisions, housing, professional work and retirement benefits, an analysis of specific issues was made, where this resourcefulness manifested itself particularly intensively. The research shows that in many cases it was pathological. It meant a strategy of behavior consisting in achieving the assumed goals by individuals or various groups of people using means that are in conflict with the norms, rules, procedures accepted as appropriate in a given political and socio-economic order.

Jest to źródło nadal rzadko wykorzystywane do badań nad postawami i zachowaniami społeczeństwa powojennego, choć jego masowy charakter doskonale się do tego nadaje. Small ads in 1945–1949 as an informant about health and diseases in SilesiaThe article is devoted to the subject of health and diseases in Silesia in 1945–1949 seen through the eyes of people. It was written on the basis of a seldom used historical source in the form of small advertisements published in the three Silesian dailies: Pionier, Słowo Polskie, and Dziennik Zachodni, which had the largest number of small advertisements and were the most popular source of information. This type of historical source makes it possible to gain valuable additional information about physicians, places of their practice, ways in which people dealt with diseases in the first extremely difficult years after the war. At the same time it gives the possibility to answer many questions and offers information that cannot be found anywhere in documents issued by the local or state administration.

    Cinematographic shows were held in Pomerelia several months after the invention of the Lumiere brothers had been presented for the first time in Paris. At the beginning of the 20th century such shows, originally organised as touring forms of entertainment, were very popular both in the major and smaller towns of the region. The fascination with the new medium affected the whole population irrespective of the ethnic origin of the inhabitants of the region. WW I resulted in an increased ideologisation of cinematography; the forms of state control over the content of films became stricter. In the interwar period, cinematography became an element of cultural competition between Poland and Germany. The prevalence and popularity of film along with the influx of American images influenced the morality and mentality of people living in the Pomeranian voiodeship in the interwar period.

    Artykuł poświęcony jest wybranym aspektom funkcjonowania młodzieży w międzywojennym Tarnowie w opinii lokalnej prasy. Główne źródło stanowiły ukazujące się w latach 1918–1939 na tamtym terenie wybrane periodyki. Dobór tytułów uwzględniał strukturę społeczno-etniczną miasta. Analiza zawartości pozwoliła odtworzyć charakter i treść oczekiwań formułowanych wobec młodych ludzi.
    The article discusses selected aspects of the life of young people in interwar Tarnów as described in the local press. The principal source used in the paper are selected periodicals published in the city in the years 1918–1939. Their selection reflects the social and ethnic structure of Tarnów in the discussed period. The analysis of their contents has helped reconstruct the nature of the expectations towards the youth and how they were expressed in the press.

    Artykuł omawia powstanie i specyficzny charakter pierwszych książek kucharskich wydanych w XIX w. i na początku XX wieku w języku serbskim i ich rolę w procesie kształtowania serbskiej kultury kulinarnej. Pierwsze próby kodyfikacji serbskiej kultury kulinarnej zostały ukazane na tle rozwoju książek kucharskich na Półwyspie Bałkańskim w XIX i w początkach XX wieku. Dzieła Jeroteja Draganovicia, Katariny Popović Midžiny, jak również publikowane w prasie belgradzkiej porady kulinarne Spasenii Paty Marković wpisywały się w realizowany od końca XIX w. projekt modernizacji i westernizacji społeczeństwa serbskiego, obejmujący także codzienną dietę i organizację życia towarzyskiego.
    The article discusses the emergence and specific character of the first cookbooks published in the 19th century and early 20th century in the Serbian language and their role in the process of establishing Serbian culinary culture. The first attempts to codify Serbian culinary culture are shown against the background of the development of cookbooks on the Balkan Peninsula in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The works of Jerotej Draganović, Katarina Popović Midžina, as well as Spasenija Pata Marković’s culinary instructions published in the Belgrade press were part of the project of modernisation and westernization of Serbian society, which had been implemented since the end of the 19th century and which also included daily diet and organization of social life.

Rozmowę poprzedza teoretyczny wstęp, w którym wprowadzone są podstawowe kategorie z zakresu badań nad pamięcią i perspektywy genderowej. Ważnym elementem jest również nakreślenie kontekstów i skupienie się na biografii zarówno interlokutorki, jak i jej matki.
    The article is a record of an interview with the Holocaust survivor, Aviva Blum-Wachs, and reveals the tension between biography, memory, concealment and oblivion. The interview is preceded by the theoretical introduction, where authoresses introduce main categories from the field of memory and gender studies. An important element of the article is an outline of contexts and deep focus on both interlocutors’ and her mother’s biography.

    The issues of everyday life in the military camp in the first part of early modern period wasn’t, as long as that (instead of few exceptions), the main theme of individual study. Discussing of this problem according to Stephan Bathory’s campaign in Livonia, especially the last one (Psków – 1581) is particularly interesting. The reason of that situation is fact, that we can use not only political documentary and well-preserved history sources relevant to militaries and public treasury, but also a diary of Jan Piotrowski, participant of those episodes. In many comprehensive letters he informed about the course of the military actions, but also about the moods and spirits of the soldiers. Many times he wrote about conditions of the soldiers’ everyday life in the camp (during march-pastes and siege), ways and circumstances of gaining the food, conditions of living in the military camp, sanitary and health issues too. His jottings are supplied by Łukasz Działyński and Jan Zborowski’s diaries.
    Problematyka życia codziennego w obozie wojskowym w epoce wczesnonowożytnej nie była, jak dotąd (poza nielicznymi wyjątkami), przedmiotem osobnego studium. Szczególnie interesujące wydaje się skupienie na tej kwestii w odniesieniu do wypraw inflanckich Stefana I Batorego, zwłaszcza ostatniej z nich (Psków – 1581 r.). Prócz oficjalnej dokumentacji o charakterze politycznych oraz stosunkowo nieźle zachowanych źródeł natury wojskowo-skarbowej, dysponujemy bowiem dziennikiem Jana Piotrowskiego, uczestnika tych wydarzeń. W formie obszernych listów informował on o przebiegu działań zbrojnych, ale również o nastrojach wśród żołnierzy. Niejednokrotnie pisał także o warunkach codziennego bytowania wojska w obozie (w marszu i podczas oblężeń), sposobach i okolicznościach zdobywania żywności, warunkach pomieszkiwania w obozie wojskowym, kwestiach sanitarnych i zdrowotnych. Jego zapiski doskonale uzupełniają diariusze Łukasza Działyńskiego i Jana Zborowskiego.
