Problematyka przygotowanego opracowania dotyczy sposobu promowania danego miejsca/obszaru przez wykorzystanie różnego rodzaju eventów jako atrakcyjnej destynacji turystyki biznesowej. W artykule zaprezentowano działania (w zakresie organizacji i udziału w różnego rodzaju spotkaniach) prowadzone przez Gdańsk Convention Bureau (GCB) w aspekcie promocji województwa pomorskiego jako miejsca spotkań. Celem rozważań jest wskazanie eventu jako narzędzia marketingu terytorialnego oraz identyfikacja i charakterystyka rodzajów spotkań, które mają właściwości promocyjne dla miejsc starających się o wizerunek destynacji turystyki biznesowej (na przykładzie działalności Gdańsk Convention Bureau w latach 2009-2013).Do części teoretycznej opracowania wykorzystano przede wszystkim metodę badawczą desk researchw postaci analizy literatury przedmiotu, doniesień branżowych oraz eksploracji portalu internetowego Gdańsk Convention Bureau, natomiast do części empirycznej – wyniki wywiadu bezpo-średniego nieustrukturowanego z przedstawicielem GCB.
The issues of the prepared study concerns the way of promoting a given place/area through the use of various events as an attractive business tourism destination. In their article, the authors presented the activities (as regards organisation and participation in various meetings) carried out by the Gdansk Convention Bureau (GCB) in the aspect of promotion of Pomeranian Province as a venue for meetings.An aim of considerations is to indicate an event as a tool of territorial marketing as well as to identify and characterise the types of meetings which have promotional properties for the places seeking for the business tourism destination image (on the example of activities carried out by the Gdansk Convention Bureau in 2009-2013). For the theoretical part of the study, the authors used, first of all, the desk research in the form of review of the subject literature, business coverage and exploration of the Internet portal of the Gdansk Convention Bureau, whereas for the empirical part – results of a face-to-face unstructured interview with a GCB representative.

This paper stems from a broader research project entitled Analog-based Modelling of Meaning Representations in English (Skrzypczak 2006), and aims to present grammatical aspect and lexical aspect as two modes of encoding the temporal profiles within the conceptualisation of processes (terminologically, in Langackerian sense, imperfective and perfective processes, otherwise, variously labelled as stative and dynamic verbs, i. e. states vs. discrete ‘unitary’ events and non-discrete ‘unbounded’ processes).It is assumed that aspect in both cases - as a process-profiling category - is analogous to the profiling of things and atemporal relations (in the sense of Langacker 1987, 1990, 2000), given the maximisation of the temporal domain in the characterisation of processes (perfective and imperfective, hence: dynamic and stative), and minimalisation of the temporal domain during the conceptualisation of things (conceptually independent entities) and atemporal relations (conceptually dependent atemporal configurations). The analogy between nouns and verbs in terms of ‘granularity’ has been so far variously addressed by Langacker (1990), Jackendoff (1991) and Talmy (2001), and also constitutes the core assumption in my research on topological modelling.

We have already examined the worldwide trends for outcomes (measured as accidents, errors and events) using data available for large complex technological systems with human involvement. That analysis was a dissection of the basic available, published data on real and measured risks, for trends and inter-comparisons of outcome rates. We found and showed how all the data agreed with the learning theory when the accumulated experience is accounted for. Here, learning includes both positive and negative feedback, directly or indirectly, as a result of prior outcomes or experience gained, in both the organizational and individual contexts. Our purpose here and now is to try to introduce some predictability and insight into the risk or occurrence of these apparently random events. In seeking such a general risk prediction we adopt a fundamental theoretical approach that is and must be testable against the world’s existing data. Comparisons with outcome error data from the world’s commercial airlines, the two shuttle failures, and from nuclear plant operator transient control behaviour, show a reasonable level of accord. The results demonstrate that the risk is dynamic, and that it may be predicted using the MERE learning hypothesis and the minimum failure rate, and can be utilized for predictive risk analysis purposes.

The article contains the definition of stress and lists its types. The author presents stressors which are characteristic in the police profession. These are among others: participation in situations connected with death, apprehension of aggressive (attacking) person, contact with victims of violence, the obligation to inform family and relatives about the death of their loved ones, searching for missing persons, participation in court proceedings as a witness, providing protection of mass events and public events. In the article, there are presented statistical data concerning factors influencing stress prevalence among policemen. The issue of stress prevalence in the police profession was undertaken due to the gravity of police tasks connected with security of citizens. Many medical representatives and psychological it observed, that threat grows up in epidemic sizes with stress. This concerns also policeman’s profession.

In the field of comics studies, which evolved from a mere topic area into a burgeoning field of inquiry at the turn of 1980s and 1990s, the dialogue about meaning in comics was initiated by practicing cartoonists, who proposed new lines of research and introduced serviceable terminology which remains in use even today. These early contributions may have provided a solid basis for the investigation of meaning in comics, but they were repeatedly criticized for their lack of an academic orientation prerequisite for serious-minded comics scholarship. With the onset of the new millennium, it was linguistic theory that came to be called upon with increasing frequency to provide the missing orientation. Recent observers point out that for over a decade linguistics in general, and cognitive linguistics in particular, has informed much of the most insightful comics research. This paper is an attempt to contribute to the intersection of cognitive linguistics and comics scholarship by demonstrating that a number of conceptual metaphors whose linguistic manifestations have been studied in considerable detail facilitate, either separately or jointly, the conceptualization of the main formal unit of comics: the so-called panel. It appears that depending on what individual panels are taken to refer to (events, states, periods of time, visual fields, portions of the world of the story), they are metaphorized in different ways (as objects, containers, windows onto the world of the story), in accordance with a central tenet of conceptual metaphor theory whereby metaphors highlight some aspects of the metaphorized concept and simultaneously hide others. On the one hand, this paper adds to the growing body of research demonstrating that metaphor is a conceptual mechanism which transcends language; on the other, it adds to the dialogue about how comics achieve meaning by discussing the metaphorical underpinnings of the panel, and by framing this discussion in terms of cognitive linguistics, a scholarly tradition with which comics studies have successfully intersected.

Events organized in cities are perceived as an important stimulus of tourism development. This refers especially to post-industrial cities, having problems with, among others, a negative image, which hinders them from staying competitive in the market. The aim of the paper is to evaluate the level to which selected post-industrial cities located in Southern Poland use events to support their development in the field of tourism. The author made a literature review to show the functions that cultural, sports, and business events can fulfil in the cities they are organized in. What is more, ways of measuring the impact of the events on achieving the aims included in the cities development strategies were indicated. The development strategies of post-industrial cities were analysed to draw conclusions concerning the aim of the article.

Constructing catalogue of temporal situationsThe paper is aiming to create a common basis for description, comparing, and analysis natural languages. As a subject of comparison we have chosen temporal structures of some languages. For such a choice there exists a perfect tool, describing basic temporal phenomena, namely an ordering of states and events in time, certainty and uncertainty, independency of histories of separate objects, necessity and possibility. This tool is supported by the Petri nets formalism, which seems to be well suited for expressing the above mentioned phenomena. Petri nets are built form three primitive notions: of states, of events that begin or end the states, and so-called flow relation indicating succession of states and events. This simple constituents give rise to many possibilities of representing temporal phenomena; it turns out that such representations are sufficient for many (clearly, not necessarily all) temporal situations appearing in natural languages.In description formalisms used till now there is no possibility of expressing such reality phenomena as temporal dependencies in compound statement, or combination of temporality and modality. Moreover, using these formalisms one cannot distinguish between two different sources of uncertainty of the speaker while describing the reality: one, due to the lack of knowledge of the speaker what is going on in outside world, the second, due to objective impossibility of foreseen ways in which some conflict situations will be (or already have been) resolved. Petri net formalism seems to be perfectly suited for such differentiations.There are two main description principles that encompassed this paper. First, that assigns meaning to names of grammatical structures in different languages may lead to misunderstanding. Two grammatical structures with apparently close names may describe different reality. Additionally, some grammatical terms used in one language may be absent and not understandable in the other. It leads to assign meanings to situations, rather than to linguistic forms used for their expression. The second principle is limit the discussed issues to such a piece of reality that can be possible for precise description. The third is to avoid introducing such information to the described reality that is not explicitly mentioned by linguistic means. The authors try to following these principles in the present paper.The paper is organized as follows. First, some samples of situations related to present tense are given together with examples of their expressions in four languages: English, (as a reference language) and three Slavic languages, representing South slavonic languages (Bulgarian), West slavonic languages (Polish), and East slavonic languages (Russian). Within the same framework the next parts of the paper are constructed, supplying samples of using Past tenses and, finally, future tenses and modalities.The formal tools for description purposes are introduced stepwise, according to needs caused be the described reality. There are mainly Petri nets, equipped additionally with inscriptions or labeling in order to keep proper assignations of description units to described objects.

W najnowszej historii Polski kryzys migracyjny w Europie w drugiej dekadzie XXI wieku stał się przedmiotem wielu burzliwych debat społecznych i politycznych zarówno w kraju jak i wewnątrz Unii Europejskiej. Wynika to z wielu zagrożeń, w tym terrorystycznych, społecznych, kulturowych, religijnych i ekonomicznych. W trwającym światowym procesie migracyjnym, to właśnie wydarzenia w międzynarodowym środowisku około europejskim drugiej dekady XXI wieku wywarły duże znaczenie na sytuacje kryzysowe wielu krajów Unii Europejskiej. Proces migracyjny do Europy ma dwa kierunki. Pierwszy kierunek od południa i południowego wschodu wynika z przemian społeczno-politycznych okresu Arabskiej Wiosny 2011 roku. Główną spuścizną tych wydarzeń są trwające do dziś konflikty etniczno-polityczne w Libii oraz wojna domowa w Syrii. Drugi kierunek procesu migracyjnego to rosnąca liczba migrantów społeczno-ekonomicznych ze wschodniej Europy oraz Azji. I to właśnie z tych obszarów pochodzą migranci kierujący się do Polski. Mianownikiem tych dwóch nurtów migracyjnych jest fakt, że wielu migrantów jest wyznania muzułmańskiego, co w porównaniu z atakami radykalnych islamistów w Europie powoduje stan zagrożenia, również w Polsce.
In the recent Polish history, the migration crisis in Europe in the second decade of the 21st century has become the subject of many stormy social and political debates both in the country and within the European Union. This is due to many threats, including terrorism, social, cultural, religious and economic. In the ongoing global migration process, it is the events in the international environment around Europe that have greatly influenced the crisis situations of many European Union countries. The migration process to Europe has two directions. The first direction from the south and southeast is due to socio-political changes in the Arab Spring of 2011. The main legacy of these events are the ethno-political conflicts in Libya and the civil war in Syria that continues to this day. The second direction of the migration process is the growing number of socio-economic migrants from Eastern Europe and Asia. Immigrants heading to Poland come from these areas. The name of these two migration trends is the fact that many migrants are Muslim, which in comparison with the attacks of radical Islamists in Europe causes a state of threat, also in Poland.

Jacob is the son of Isaac and Rebekah. In his attitudes and acts he is not irreproachable, righteous and transparent, but all the same it is with him that God creates history! Already when he was being born he grasped his brother Esau by his heel. Using a trick he bought the birthright and his father’s blessing. So he has to escape. In Laban’s home he marries Leah and Rachel who give birth to his children. When he was returning home with his whole family he had an encounter with God, during which encounter God changed his name to Israel. This was also the moment of Jacob’s inner transformation, when a treacherous and dishonest man was changed into an indomitable, subject to God one. The article shows these stories in a certain very important key. The history of Jacob’s life and various events connected with it is the way the inspired author shows how God led his chosen one towards himself. This is important for us, who are chosen by God and called to be saint by the mandate of holy baptism, as also each of us has his own history of life, including good and edifying events, but also difficult and ambiguous ones. And if it is so, maybe God—like in Jacob’s life—also in our lives, through exactly such events leads us to himself!

The aim of this article is to make an attempt at discovering how events, as a communication channel of event marketing, complement promotional strategies of towns and regions through their psychological impact on tourists. The study is based on the concept of event marketing, which emphasises the undeniable role of emotions and experiences in the process of satisfying social needs. It can be assumed that the presented conclusions are true for all events dedicated to tourist promotion of the region. Providing theoretical foundations, the article demonstrates that self-government units are ever more often using event-based strategies, since they increasingly employ the model of competition in the tourism market based on tourists’ emotions and experiences rather than on the material resources of the place.

Celem artykułu jest identyfikacja kluczowych przesłanek dla uznania wydarzeń biznesowych jako atrakcyjnych produktów współczesnych obiektów sportowych. Dla osiągnięcia celu pracy zastosowano metody analizy i syntezy, głównie z wykorzystaniem źródeł wtórnych, z dostępnych raportów instytucji krajowych i zagranicznych oraz informacji zawartych w ofertach wybranych stadionów. Badania autora wskazują na kilka czynników przemawiających za dużym znaczeniem wydarzeń biznesowych jako produktów uzupełniających ofertę współczesnych stadionów i oddziałujących na różne aspekty funkcjonowania oraz rozwoju tych obiektów i regionu. Badanie i wnioskowanie koncentruje się na stosunkowo nowych, wielkich, znanych i wielofunkcyjnych obiektach sportowych. Tematyka zastosowania wydarzeń biznesowych w różnych obiektach spotkań w Polsce jest przedmiotem wielu publikacji, jednak próby pokazywania ich jako uzupełniającego produktu stadionów są jeszcze rzadko spotykane i wymagają ich dalszych badań. Artykuł ma charakter przeglądowy, a zarazem prezentuje pewną koncepcje teoretyczną możliwości rozwoju produktu współczesnych stadionów.
The aim of the article is to identify key premises to recognize business events as attractive products of contemporary sports stadiums. To achieve this goal, the autor used methods of analysis and synthesis, facilitating mainly secondary sources, available reports from national and foreign institutions, as well as the information available on offer of chosen stadiums. The author’s research points to a few factors in favor of the significance of business events as products supplementing the stadiums’ offer, and influencing various operational and developmental aspects of these facilities and their regions. The research and reasoning is concentrated on relatively new, large, well-known, and multifunctional sports facilities. The topic of using business events in various meeting spots in Poland is the subject of many publications, but the attempts to show them as stadiums’ supplementary products are still rarely seen and require further research. The article is a survey in nature, at the same time presenting a certain theoretical concept of the ability of developing the product of contemporary stadiums.

Opis:
The history of Jesus of Nazareth makes always the very important subject of Theology and practice of the Church. Taking the criterion of events as the key of interpretation of Gospel according to Luke, the author proposes the analysis of work of Luke. Biblical exegesis doesn’t often lay an accentuation on the history which constitutes one of essential elements of Gospel – in this case the one according to St. Luke. A lot of events narrated there allow to follow the evangelical narration. The event which constitutes the historical top is the Pesah of Jesus Christ. The events searched and qualified help to elaborate some literal structure of the Gospel which is the matter. Entirety of evangelical work of Luke may be conceived better through an effort to give the new title to the Gospel. The following title: The historical narration of Jesus Christ the founder of the Church permits better apprehend the ecclesiastical aspect of the Gospel according to St. Luke.
