    The awareness of the society that it is responsible for what the nature looks like, as well as for developing human relations, results in the popularization of the idea of sustainable development. The aim of thos study is to present an analysis of the literature on the subject focused on the description of the reality and possible directions of changes in education, considering it as global challenges in three aspects of sustainable development: the economic, ecological and social. The greatest challenge today is to create a multidimensional view of a constantly deepening social and environmental crisis. The change that should be made in education should concern the processes that are aimed at combining the three aspects and at balancing their importance. The essence of education for sustainable development was shown in shaping the values, empathy and awareness that are needed to act for society, as well as the environment and the economy on a global scale.

    El presente trabajo aborda el fenómeno del calentamiento global como consecuencia de la actividad de una civilización que basa su desarrollo en el uso de los combustibles petrofósiles. Por lo tanto, el análisis abarca los siguientes temas: la globalización, las ciudades, el ambiente, las acciones contra del calentamiento global, el proto colo de Kyoto, la negativa de los Estados Unidos a suscribirlo, así como ejemplos específicos de los esfuerzos de reducir las emisiones de gases perjudiciales a la atmósfera por parte de algunos suscriptores. Se ejemplifican algunos efectos del calentamiento global en el área de la seguridad alimentaria, la salud, la biodiversidad.
    This paper analyzes global warming as a result of the activity of a civilization that depends in its development on the use of fossil fuels. Therefore, the author undertakes and discusses the following topics: globalization, cities, environment, actions against global warming, the Kyoto Protocol, the U.S. refusal to sign it, as well as specific examples of efforts to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases by some protocol subscribers. A few examples of the effects of global warming in the areas of food security, health and biodiversity are also briefly analyzed in the text

    The purpose of this article is to identify and assess environmental risks that may have the greatest impact on the future of humanity. They were divided into two basic groups, i.e. for natural processes and resources. In addition, climate change is described as different group. The authors decided, that a holistic approach to this issue is more desirable than dividing it into two above-mentioned groups. The comparison of various threats was possible due to the application of identical assessment criteria, such as: the harmfulness, rate of spread, scope and moment of occurrence of a given group of threats. Each of the listed criteria has been evaluated on a fi ve-point scale, where 1 has the smallest and 5 the largest impact force. The obtained results show the leading importance of natural processes in maintaining the existing Earth system. In addition, the authors point to a greater risk of problems related to renewable resources than non-renewable one. As a result, it can be assumed that the current degradation of natural processes and excessive use of resources is likely to lead to the risk of global disasters.

    Artykuł jest próbą wprowadzenia do praktyki szkolnej nowego nurtu interdyscyplinarnego – humanistyki ekologicznej. W związku z dokonującym się zwrotem ku Ziemi, trwającymi klimatycznymi strajkami młodzieżowymi i zainteresowaniami uczniów tematem globalnego ocieplenia planety, warto profilować czytanie, zwracając uwagę na relację człowieka ze środowiskiem. Ponadto konieczne staje się wprowadzenie do edukacji nowych treści, dzięki którym możliwy będzie namysł nad wspólną przyszłością oraz krytyka arogancji i krótkowzroczności człowieka.
    The article is an attempt to introduce into the school practice a new interdisciplinary trend – ecological humanities. As we observe the return on Earth, ongoing youth climate strikes and students’ increased interest taken in global warming, reading of the current literature canon should be profiled in order to emphasise the relationship between a human and the environment. Additionally, it is essential to introduce new content to education, as it will enable a critique of human arrogance and short-sighted approach, as well as a more profound reflection on the future.
