    This paper follows Iris Murdoch in an ongoing critique of existentialism that saw the beginnings of her philosophical work with Sartre and its conclusion with her manuscript on Heidegger. The continuity of her critique focuses upon her concern with the magnetism of the ego over and against attention toward the other. Heidegger, as a metaphysician working to close the post-Enlightenment subject/object separation, engages her thought regarding new possibilities for a future metaphysics. For Murdoch, seeking an ontology that rejects a transcendent God requires a notion of goodness that provokes a point of contention with Heidegger’s ontology of Being, where a new dualism of authenticity and inauthenticity toward Being undermines any ethos of the other.

    The paper discusses the unique relationship that exists between the ego and one’s own body. There are two fundamental possibilities to grasp it – using the verb “to be” or “to have,” which results in two known formulas: “to be the body” or “to have the body.” However, after careful examination, it turns out that they are one-sided and entangle us in numerous aporias. A more complete picture of the relationships with one’s own body is made possible by a phenomenological description, which is a first-person and direct approach. The body, given in numerous experiences, turns out to be paradoxical and ambiguous. This is also my relation with it – it is feeling myself and others, getting to know myself and the world; an internal and at the same time external bond, at most my own experience along with the need to transcend the body. Finally, we consider whether the category of “relationship” resp. “relation” matches the experience of one’s own body. Perhaps a better solution is to give up this term and describe the body as a character of human being.

    In this essay there are led ways to man’s heart of hearts, to ego resembling an inaccessible monad, which evades our control, but attracts always attention. The unattainable destination inside our inside is reflected in thinking and action in outer world; here the man can recover himself. Kant’s I think shows the way to ego and to looking for myself outside. The essay presents the dual exposition of the essence of human being. Though ego belongs to man’s inside, it can be hardly dabbed by philosophical thought, but on other hand the landscape of our thinking and action is idealizing or blurred. My essay only describes problems roughly. The rest waits for description.

    The aim of this article is to consider the relation between narrativity of autobiographical text and Kantian concept of transcendental entity. The author claims that the connection between time and identity of the subject, which is fundamental to modern autonarratives, can also function as a theoretical background in non-narrative intimate writing (e.g. an autobiographical essay). Examples of Szymutko’s and Przybylski’s works prove that selfconscious turn towards non-narrative forms of self-expression makes the Kantian concept of ego a negative, but (still) inherent waypoint. Stefan Szymutko’s Nagrobek Ciotki Cili (Aunt Cila’s Gravestone) and Ryszard Przybylski’s Uśmiech Demokryta (Democritus’ Smile) can be therefore described as quasi-autobiographies.

    In this essay we will try to undercover some aspects of freedom and free will of person, which are hidden in the philosophy of St. Augustine of Hippo. As we know, this great philosopher, early Christian theologian, has influenced European Philosophy very much, and a lot of his apposite thesis are present in philosophy even today. Using the phenomenological method of Max Scheler, Karol Wojtyła, and Jean-Luc Marion we will try to present some aspects, discovered and described by Saint Augustin of Hippo, which are necessary for such ideas like subjective Ego.

    Opis:
    Within the broadly defined field of human communication an important aspect is related to the teacher-students interactions. The character of these interactions may decisively determine students’ achievements. The opinion on the transactional nature of the interaction requires the individuals organising the education process to deconstruct the paradigm on the unidirectional process of human communication and to contribute to the creation of conditions promoting reciprocity of interactions. This paper presents the contemporary concept of communication and the term “interaction” was analysed using respective examples given in literature on the subject. Moreover, results of studies de- scribing the nature of teacher-students interactions are presented and key factors determining their course are characterised.
    W szerokiej problematyce komunikowania się między ludźmi ważne miejsce zajmują interakcje nauczyciel-student. Ich charakter w zasadniczy sposób może determinować osiągnięcia uzyskiwane przez studentów. Pogląd o transakcyjnej naturze interakcji wymaga od osób organizujących proces kształcenia dekonstrukcji paradygmatu o jednokierunkowym procesie komunikacji międzyludzkiej i wniesienia wkładu w stworzenie warunków sprzyjających wzajemności oddziaływań. W pracy przedstawiono współczesną koncepcję komunikowania się i poddano analizie pojęcie interakcji z zastosowaniem odpowiednich przykładów z literatury przedmiotu. Zaprezentowano także wyniki badań opisujące naturę interakcji nauczyciel-student oraz scharakteryzowano kluczowe czynniki determinujące ich przebieg.

    Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza Jungowskich wątków w tekstach grającej progresywny metal amerykańskiej grupy Tool. Maynard James Keenan, wokalista i autor tekstów, zawsze przyznawał się do swojej fascynacji teoriami Carla Gustava Junga i Josepha Campbella, a tropy Jungowskie, poza piosenkami, można odnaleźć również w grafice okładek albumów, w promocyjnych teledyskach oraz w oprawie wizualnej koncertów zespołu. W słowach piosenek Keenan bezpośrednio lub pośrednio nawiązuje do kolejnych etapów Jungowskiego procesu indywiduacji, ewolucji duchowej i transformacji, którego celem jest całkowita integracja świadomych i nieświadomych treści psychiki. W tekstach z albumów Opiate i Undertow Keenan wyraża poczucie konieczności duchowego rozwoju oraz integracji persony, maski służącej kontaktom ze światem zewnętrznym. Powracającym motywem na pierwszych płytach Toola jest również konfrontacja z cieniem, którego wyparcie powoduje fragmentację i dezintegrację psychiki. Płyta Ænima podejmuje wątek potrzeby zrozumienia i integracji animy, nieświadomego pierwiastka żeńskiego w psychice mężczyzny, oraz koncentruje się na wynikającym z tego duchowym oczyszczeniu. Końcową fazą procesu indywiduacji jest dotarcie do Jaźni – przekroczenie wszelkich przeciwieństw i odkrycie boskiego pierwiastka w człowieku. Oznacza to całkowitą równowagę funkcji psychicznych symbolicznie odzwierciedloną w perfekcyjnym kształcie spirali. Ten etap rozwoju duchowego jest przedmiotem refleksji w tekstach niektórych piosenek z albumu Lateralus.
    The aim of this paper is to analyse Jungian tropes in the lyrics of an American progressive rock band, Tool. Maynard James Keenan, the singer and lyricist, has always admitted to his enduring fascination with the theories of Carl Gustav Jung and Joseph Campbell and, apart from the songs, Jungian tropes are also evident in the album covers, promotional videos and the visuals of the group’s live shows. In his lyrics, Keenan directly or indirectly refers to the consecutive stages of Jung’s process of individuation, continuous spiritual evolution and Ewolucja duchowa i lewatywa: Jungowskie tropy w twórczości zespołu Tool transformation. Its aim is the complete integration of the conscious with the unconscious in the psyche. In the songs from Opiate and Undertow, Keenan expresses his sense of the need for spiritual development and integration of the persona, the mask used in one’s contacts with the outside world. Another recurring motif in the first albums is confrontation with the shadow, which, when repressed, brings about the fragmentation and disintegration of the psyche. The album Ænima focuses on the necessity to understand and realise the anima, an unconscious female element in a man’s psyche, which leads to spiritual cleansing. The final phase of individuation is the Self – the transcendence of all opposites and the discovery of the divine in a human being. It means a total balance of all mental functions, which is symbolically reflected in the perfect shape of the spiral. This stage of the spiritual evolution is addressed in the lyrics of several songs from Lateralus.

    Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie sformułowanej przez Stanisława Brzozowskiego koncepcji wartości jako próby wyjścia z kryzysu filozoficznego spowodowanego przez paradygmat pozytywistyczny i wynikający z niego światopogląd modernistyczny. Czerpiąc z dokonań Kanta i Fichtego, Brzozowski czyni wartość centralną kategorią swojej koncepcji. Przypisuje jej funkcje ontologiczne, a tym samym przedstawia wizję rzeczywistości alternatywną w stosunku do koncepcji pozytywistycznej, która zakłada redukowalność wartości do faktu. Jego tezy metafizyczne stanowią zarazem fundament, inspirowanej myślą Marksa, krytycznej teorii społecznej.
    The aim of the article is to present the concept of values (created by Brzozowski) as a way of recovering from a philosophic crisis caused by positivist paradigm and modernist world-view resulting from it. Brzozowski based his philosophy on Kant and Fichte philosophy and the central category of his concept is value. He assigns value ontological functions and presents his vision of reality, which is alternative to positivist approach. His metaphysical theses are groundwork for critical social theory inspired by Marx idea.
