The situation of man in the beginning of 21st century is known as the postmodern. The concept of postmodernism indicates theoretically more or less elaborated opinions on current status of the process of globalization. The process of globalization does not produce only progress and positives but also threats, risks and transformation of man which are not only humanizing. The problem of postmodernism is mastery of plurality, heterogenity and otherness of ways, values and experiences of life, specialization of branches of science and societal development trends so that it contributes to digni ed human life in society. The concept of postmodernism and its consequences for education of the younger generation project into conceptions of educational institutions, education in the family, but they also nd their re ection in state policy due to the younger generation. Social changes, which occured at the end of 20th century, are part of global context of economical, political, social and cultural evolution. Their reach and importance must be seen into the future and in these wider connections.

Opis:
The paper is aimed at fiction as a content part of Slovak education system. Explication frame of the paper is not didactical, but literary: based on the constructivic theory of S.J. Schmidt it reflects literature as a social system within another social system (education). Paying attention to secondary grammar schools, the author observes a basic principle of literary education planning in official documents. Nowadays the principle is literary theory and it has replaced the long lasting principle of literary history. The author discusses results of the change, which have not met reform authors expectations. The next area of the paper is connection between teaching literature and formative goals of educational system.

By conducting three-year action research among students in grades 1-3, sustainable development manifests itself as an internal value related to human activity, his actions and attitude towards the problems of the world and society. The image of the present generation and the next generations of the Earth's inhabitants must take into account the quality of life of the human population as well as the fauna and flora. The awareness of the need to balance these spheres from an early age gives the opportunity to create a conscious and engaged society in the fight for our Mother Earth.

The aim of this article is to identify the main principles for how the public sector functions in a post-industrial society. The research method adopted was a meta-analysis of the results of research by various authors on the issues of managing the development of post-industrial society. The subject of the meta-analysis was primarily literature in the field of knowledge management, development economics and new growth theories. The post-industrial society presented in the article appears as a land of happiness, where everyone works together to multiply the common good, guided by the following principles: knowledge gives access to power because post-industrial society is a meritocracy; social standing depends on diligence and willingness to take advantage of the offers of the educational system; the role of the state is to provide and safeguard open access to the ruling elite for anyone who wishes to learn and improve their conduct by developing objectively formulated, fair and impartial procedures for filling public sector positions. Decision-makers, i.e. those who have power, are not only professionals but also people who put the common good before self-interest. Representatives of the science sector set the directions of state policy and prepare strategies for achieving them. The science sector is independent of government and business, which is manifested in the freedom of to teach and conduct research. Social inequalities are being tackled and citizens can monitor the spending of public funds, since we are dealing with a welfare state. The prevailing political system is participatory democracy. Citizens participate in the life of society on an equal footing, and decisions about the future of society are consulted with them. Political decentralization in the management of public administration is common.

BACKGROUND: According to statistical data, since 2014, only about 20% of incoming calls to the emergency call centre have been actual emergency calls, others are classified as non-emergency or false calls. This leads to the question: Why is this situation happening in the Republic of Poland? OBJECTIVES: The aim of this article is to show the public’s awareness with regard to the purpose of 112 emergency number and to indicate the causes and effects of the discussed phenomenon as well as proposals aimed at changing the existing state of affairs. METHODOLOGY: Theoretical and empirical methods were used. An analysis was made of, inter alia, available literature on security and education for safety, sources of law and reports on the functioning of the emergency communication system. Interviews with experts, who are the 112 emergency number operators, were also conducted. CONCLUSIONS: There are many problems generated by the Polish citizens that prevent the proper functioning of the 112 emergency telephone number. The reasons lie primarily in two areas: the lack of adequate education within the context of all social groups and the lack of strict penalties for deliberate performing non-emergency calls or blocking the emergency line.

The subject of the article is the problem of formation of moral attitudes towards the deceased fellowmen in the preaching of the carmelite Serapion Kociełkowicz. The analysis concerns mainly sermons on All Saints’ Day and the Feast of the Dead from a collection of festive sermons written in 1701–1704, enriched with sermons taken from other collections of his authorship. The reflections are mainly focused on the issue of Purgatory and the idea of the Church - Mystici Corporis Christi. The shaping of attitudes towards the deceased was based mainly on persuasive procedures whose task was to influence the listeners of the sermons in order to develop a responsible and mature moral attitude. Helping the dead was a community duty based on universal values, the duty of Christians towards their fellowmen, as well as social values and norms.

The main goal of the article is indication the need of intercultural education in a local society. In the paper is discussed an example of Sejny – the small city in north-east part of Poland. Taking up Jacques Derrida's concept of „the university without condition”, we try to argue that the fundamental role of the university in the history of Europe has consisted in a specific kind of radicalism which, on the one hand, allows the individual for the exploration and pursuit of his/her interests and vocation, and, on the other, makes it mandatory to realize that the development of the individual always takes place in the space of conjoint communicative experience. Thus, what is at stake in any discussion of the university education is a future of democracy and citizenship. Using the works of, among others, Hanah Arendt, Immanuel Kant, Plato, Dewey, and Friedrich Hölderlin the essay makes a point that to save what holds between people, i.e. to redeem the human bond in the society, the university always aims at the acts of Deweyan deliberation thus discussing and thus determining appropriate significance to the public and the individual.

The authoress claims that civic education must be grounded in a deep sense of belonging, which, in turn, involves values such as freedom, equality, civility, justice, pluralism and, above all, ensures the development of dialogue and tolerance in the individual, dialogue and tolerance which are essential attributes of a democratic attitude. Many African societies are patriarchal, based on the supremacy of the male over the female. According to Mba (2009, p.322), “emancipation of females is one of the greatest achievements of the women’s struggle globally”. As a continent, African culture accords a superior status to the male such that strength, freedom, independence, honour, courage and other positive attributes are ascribed to the male gender, while attributes of weakness, fear, dependence among others are ascribed to the female gender. Crimes of less magnitude are considered as “female” crimes and attract less stiff punishment. The killing of Ezeudu’s first son by Okonkwo in Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart for example, is described as a female crime. On the nature of the crime, Achebe writes “the crime was of two kinds, male and female, Okonkwo committed the female because it had been inadvertent. He could return to the clan after some years” (p.87). In this paper, the Feminist theory is used to examine the portraiture of females in two short stories by two African female writers. In this article, the family is categorise as a fundamental part of the social life of Africans, it attempts to expose the bias of African culture against the female in favour of the male, and consider how this social reality impacts negatively on the female psyche. The stories reveal that women themselves aggravate the situation by working against themselves. We conclude that female empowerment is a must for all females, and that just as governments are projecting education for all by the year 2020, the women’s movement should also target education for all females by the year 2020, because as the stories reveal, the educated female character fares better in the society than her less literate counterpart.
