Artyzm czy rzemiosło? Jakże często to pytanie można odnieść do nauczania informatyki w szkole. Przy czym nie chodzi tylko o przykłady oczywiste, związane z tworzeniem grafiki komputerowej czy projektowaniem witryn WWW, gdzie oprócz rzemieślniczej znajomości narzędzi informatycznych pojawia się wątek kreatywności, zmysłu artystycznego ucznia. Warto przejrzeć się choćby umiejętnościom związanym z myśleniem algorytmicznym i programowaniem, bardzo ważnym wobec właśnie wprowadzanych zmian programowych w nauczaniu informatyki. Dziś programowanie, także wobec bogactwa narzędzi, ale przede wszystkim w związku z inwencją ucznia, daje pełne pole do ujawnienia niekonwencjonalnych pomysłów, oryginalnego sposobu myślenia, nieszablonowych rozwiązań. Słowem, może być sztuką wbrew niekiedy kojarzącemu się z rzemiosłem słowu kodowanie.
There is a longstanding debate whether computer science education is art or craft. There is no doubt that computer graphics and website design, apart from technical skills, require some degree of invention and creativity, some artistic sense. Maybe the same concerns skills related to algorithmic thinking and programming, which are very important in view of changes in the syllabus of IT teaching that are being introduced. Today, programming provides a possibility to reveal unconventional ideas, original thinking and unconventional solutions due to the wealth of tools and, above all, students’ inventiveness. Thus, it may be treated as art, contrary to the widespread belief that coding involves pure craft.

Punktem odniesienia do analizy relacji między naukami o wychowaniu a pedagogiką jest niemiecka pedagogika, gdyż to w tym kraju nauki o wychowaniu stanowią odrębną dziedzinę badań. Odwołuję się do genezy powstania nauki o wychowaniu w krajach niemieckojęzycznych, ale ukazuję ich rozwój i status w Polsce. Proponuję trzy perspektywy poznawcze w polskim podejściu do nauk o wychowaniu, gdzie można je rozwijać w roli: 1) pedagogiki jako nauki o wychowaniu, której przedmiotem badań jest wychowanie człowieka; 2) nauki o wychowaniu, czyli pedagogicznej metanauki albo metateorii wychowania i 3) nauki nauk o wychowaniu, a więc nauki integrującej wyniki badań dyscyplin z różnych obszarów i dziedzin nauki, które czynią przedmiotem swoich badań wychowanie.
German pedagogy is the reference point for the analysis of the relationship between educational sciences and pedagogy, due to the fact that in Germany educational sciences constitute a distinct field of study. In my work, I refer to the origins of educational sciences in German-speaking countries and present their development and status in Poland. I offer three cognitive perspectives in the Polish approach to educational sciences. First, pedagogy as a science of education, whose purpose is human education. Second, the science of education which is like pedagogical metatheory of education or educational metascience. Third, the science of educational sciences, i.e. the science that integrates the results from different areas and fields of science which make education the subject of their research.

The author claims that the proposed amendment requires more work on the part of the legislature. Among the deficiencies of the bill he points out that it needlessly distinguishes among public and non‑public higher education institutions in relation to the legal framework of intellectual property rights resulting from research and development activities of scientific workers, students and doctoral students of. According to the author, there is no possibility to establish, on the basis of the bill, the results of which scientific research or development activity carried out by a particular employee of a public higher education institution has been achieved “within the performance of duties resulting from the contract for work in that educational institution”, which provides a reason for application of the proposed provisions of the above‑mentioned act in relation to those results. The author makes a lege ferenda proposal that the right of precedence should not be applied to intellectual property rights to scientific works. He also points out that the proposal does not contain an authorisation for public higher education institutions to specify the “procedure” for expiry of the mandate.

The paper presents the essence of the education for safety. There were analyzed both theoretical issues and curriculum of the education aimed at matters related to widely understood safety in the system of public education as well as system of education in the Ministry of the Interior and Administration. Analysis of the theoretical aspects as well as of the practice proves that education for safety is successful. The society is educated in the necessary scope and therefore protected from a broad range of threats. Officers of the uniformed services are also educated in the scope sufficient for a professional fulfillment of the statutory duties. Such broad scope of safety knowledge allows the society to feel relatively secure. Such a sense of security is also contributed by the fact that this education continues to evolve and that main determinants of it are history, culture, traditions, geographical location, needs and challenges – so in fact potential threats, which in turn affects the process of education, attitudes, as well as the awareness.

2020 is another special year in the history of the Police College in Szczytno. The fourth decade of its existence begins in this year. At the same time, it is a good time to take a retrospective look at the past 30 years of functioning of this university. This is all the more valuable because its author has actively participated in its life for almost all of these years, as a listener and then as an employee (policeman) at the executive and management levels. The perspective of thirty years of functioning of the Police College presented in the article concerns primarily its evolution, which is a consequence of the expectations of the police management and the interior ministry. At the same time, it presents its development as an academic centre, providing education at an increasingly higher level. The real dimension of this direction of development is the University’s ability to award further, increasingly higher titles and degrees. This is the result of the involvement of the academic and teaching staff of the university, but also of its management. This article shows the path taken by the Police College in Szczytno from the university, being the resultant of the socio-political changes of the late 1980s and early 1990s of the last century, to the university being the leading academic centre in the Republic of Poland which educates in the field of social sciences and conducts research showing the relationships between the disciplines included in this one field of science. It not only allows the professional staff of the department’s services to be trained, but also to discover new opportunities for providing safety.

The aim of this article is to determine the status of philosophy of education among the other philosophical disciplines and to consider its place within the framework of pedagogical sciences. The relationship between pedagogy and philosophy has been analysed with emphasis on the conditions to be met by philosophy that it could be useful as an instrument helping in reflection on education. The article also discusses the way in which could be useful. Successively, the question in posed on how data obtained during the pedagogical reflection can influence philosophy itself. In conclusion, referring to the achievements of Alasdair MacIntyre, an attempt to draw philosophical procedures allowing to assess given pedagogical concepts is presented.

INTRODUCTION: : Patients develop different types of respiratory diseases and conditions which require opening of the airways with instrumentation. If endotracheal intubation for emergency oxygen supply is impossible, the Orly remaining way is conicopuncture. The study aimed to assess the skill of localisation of the cricothyroid membrane by students of medical rescue. MATERIAL AND METHODS: 27 students of medical rescue at a University in Poland were enrolled in the study. The inclusion criteria were to pass an exam conducted on dummies. A head-and-neck preparation was the research tool: the students were to locate the cricothyroid membrane on it. The Delphi method was employed and a statistical analysis was carried out on figures. RESULTS: The study enrolled 9 women and 18 men. The mean age was 22.15 (SD±1.53). Only 13 students localised the cricothyroid membrane correctly (48.15%). The students showed a high level of satisfaction from participation in classes (4.81 points in the five-point Likert scale). CONCLUSIONS: The study showed that classes with dummies do not prepare students sufficiently for correct location of the cricothyroid membrane, which may lead to inability to perform conicopuncture to save lives. Implementation of classes with aid of cadavers in the curriculum of the medical rescue study programme must be considered.

The National Education Commission for the duration of the appointment on October 14, 1773 as the central body of educational authority. KENrodu at the request of King Stanisław August Poniatowski, sanctioned by the Partitioning Council, approving the first partition of Poland. The Committee was composed of Lithuanian subcontractors: Joachim Chreptowicz, General of the Podole Lands and Cadet Cadet Adam Czartoryski, Vilnius Bishop Ignacy Massalski, Bishop of Płock Michał Poniatowski, Kopajnic Staroste Antoni Poniński, the youngest in the group, pedagogically gifted Ignacy Potocki, Gniezno Governor August Sułkowski and Chancellor crown Andrzej Zamojski. The National Education Commission faced the extremely difficult task of reforming Polish education, which, like the state, was plunged into a deep decline. A new era of turbulent development of civilization was approaching. The natural and mathematical sciences have been developing. The prestige of knowledge and education grew in Europe. Light and well-read people saw the necessity of making changes in the education of children and youth, which was not supported by the indifference to the affairs of the nobility and magnates.

The article is aimed at presenting the category of science capital as a new category in the field of pedagogical research. Science capital as a construct was proposed in the second decade of the 21st century by the team of Louise Archer from King’s College. This category consists of: (1) scientific forms of cultural capital, (2) behavior and practices related to science, and (3) scientific forms of social capital. The text presents the development of this concept together with a discussion of its elements and their meaning. Scientific capital can be one of the greatest wealth of society, and its use depends on the future development of not only individual units, but also the country and the possibility of high achievements in the fields of science. This is a very current issue, therefore it is important to better understand the shaping of the science capital of young people. The text also reviews the previous empirical studies devoted to the analyzed category. On this basis, it was concluded that scientific capital as an educational variable is still subjected to reconceptualization, requires refinement and further exploration.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest rekonstrukcja stanowiska Horkheimera w odniesieniu do relacji między filozofią i nauką. Autorka wykazuje, że lider Szkoły Frankfurckiej poddaje krytyce zarówno neopozytywistyczny scjentyzm, który czyni naukę monopolistką poznania, jak i neoromantyczny antyintelektualizm, który poznanie naukowe deprecjonuje, pozbawiając je waloru prawdziwości. Jest on bowiem zdania, że filozofia ani nie może zastąpić nauki, ani nie powinna służyć jej za narzędzie. Ślepą wiarę w naukę uznaje za odpowiednik ślepej wiary religijnej, równie zgubny w skutkach dla myślenia i rozwoju kultury a w rezultacie – także dla ludzkiego życia. Opowiada się za autonomią myśli filozoficznej wobec wszelkiego rodzaju dogmatyzmu. Uważa, że jej niedostatek we współczesności prowadzi do kulturowego kryzysu. Nadzieję na jego złagodzenie wiąże z postulowaną reformą edukacji akademickiej; chodzi mu o to, by owocowała ona nie tylko określonymi kompetencjami zawodowymi, ale i rekomendowaną już przez Kanta postawą duchowej pełnoletniości.
This paper reconstructs Max Horkheimer’s views on interrelations between science and religion. It is shown that Horkheimer criticizes both the neopositivistic scientism which renders science the role of monopoly of cognition, and neo-romantic anti-intellectualism which depreciates scientific cognition by removing from it truth. According to Horkheimer, philosophy is not able to substitute science, and it should not be its instrument. He equalizes blind faith in science with blind faith in religion, treating both as equally disastrous for thinking and the development of culture, and, in consequence, for human life. He proclaims himself in favour of the autonomy of philosophical thinking towards all forms of dogmatism. He considers the lack of autonomy in modernity as leading to a cultural crisis. He sees a hope for its weakening in the postulated reform of academic education; he postulates that it should offer not only professional competencies, but also the attitude of mental maturity recommended already by Kant.

The Polish School of Logic flourished in the period 1920-1939. Philosophically, it was influenced by Kazimierz Twardowski, professor at the University of Lwow (now Lviv in Ukraine), who established the Lwow-Warsaw School, to which the mentioned logical group belonged. Twardowski claimed that logic is very important in every kind of human activity, professional as well as private. Hence, every argument should be clearly formulated and proceed by correct inferential rules. These postulates involved semiotics, formal logic, and methodology of science — that is, logica sensu largo. This position was accepted by Twardowski’s most distinguished students, such as Jan Łukasiewicz, Stanisław Leśniewski, Kazimierz Ajdukiewicz, and Tadeusz Kotarbiński, who graduated before 1914, as well as the next generation of logicians and philosophers, particularly by Alfred Tarski. Although all these people considered logic, philosophy, and science as completely neutral with respect to politics and ideology, they treated logical skills as indispensable in political activities. In philosophical specialized terminology, Polish logicians regarded logic as a weapon against irrationalism. This position was also represented by Polish logicians who did not belong to the group of Twardowski’s students.

This article covers the basic terms in educational sciences in English and their equivalents in Polish, including definitions, difficulties in the selection of appropriate equivalent and linguistic traps which may influence on how the particular term is interpreted in the context of a text it is contained within and both Polish and American/British educational reality. The purpose of this paper is to increase awareness of a Polish reader of educationrelated texts that have been translated from English in terms of issues concerning meanings and interpretation, to make the Polish authors of educationrelated texts more sensitive to such issues and to provide them with a basis to be used when they create their own works which are meant to be populated in the multilingual environment of educationists or when they refer to the English literature in educational sciences in Polish books and articles.

The Marceli Nencki Foundation for Supporting Biological Sciences is a non-go- vernmental organization that conducts public benefit activities. The statutory goal of the Foundation is to support scientific, popularization, and educational efforts in the field of biological sciences. The Foundation focuses its activities primarily on students and young scientists who wish to bring biological sciences closer to young people and foster their creative development. Close cooperation with the Nencki Institute and the promotion of its scientific heritage result in many joint initiatives, including lectures, workshops, study visits, Art and Science, and co- organized scientific conferences. The Foundation began its activities on Novem- ber 14, 2012. Its founders were professors from Nencki Institute and members of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

The author works with a sociological definition of bureaucracy as a form of rational management of big organizational units, specifically educational system. He observes expected model activity of a literary education participant in upper secondary education. He points to certain negative features of current model of literary education as a result of tension between two diverse functions of two social systems – literature and education. Findings are demonstrated on two examples: declared reading experience at school together with inhibiting experience by setting content and performance standards of education; reading nonfiction to “train“ reading literacy in its wide and pragmatic meaning.
