    Today, economic sustainability is a social priority and it implies positive, rewarding, and creative relationships in the workplace. Creativity, innovation, and subjective welfare will remain extremely important for sustainable production models in an age of technological acceleration, ecological threats, and digital globalization. With the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the new ways to organize work, this is even more important. The basis for this is to be found in education, especially in secondary and higher education. Good mentoring is becoming essential in professional development; this activity is based on words and silence, using corporate and individual coaching tools to open new doors of creativity. Following Peter Drucker’s (1954) work in management thinking and the approach of positive psychologists, this paper presents a new concept of sustainable working relationships for the 21st century based on words and narratives.

    The article presents the possibilities it creates using pedagogical innovations such as tutoring, mentoringand coaching supporting the traditional model of education at work with students with school difficulties. Problems withfinding your own path for children and youth, coping skills in a dynamically changing reality,in consumer times with many difficult situations is often undertaken on the basis of school practice and and scientific research. Young people are expected to have knowledge and skills flexible, mobility in various spheres of life because the change is inscribed in the surrounding reality. Important task of modern school and educational institutions is making young people aware of challenges, that stand before them and prepare them to the right life, educational and professional choices in accordance with their capabilities andrequirements of the labor market.

    Numerous activities and tasks are performed in the course of the tutorial during student training, but not all have the same importance for the tutor. We approach this answer through a wider investigation (Martinez, 2010) conducted in two phases: an initial qualitative one using an interview as a tool for obtaining information, and a second one more quantitative with an electronic questionnaire. The results show the importance that tutors attribute to “being available for students”, “integration into the center” and “providing contextual knowledge and access to documentation of the institution”.

    Celem tego tekstu jest wyostrzenie świadomości krytycznej dyskursu całożyciowego uczenia się. Opierając się na myśli M. Foucaulta i posługując wypracowanymi przezeń pojęciami, takimi jak: władza dyscyplinarna, władza pastoralna i bio-władza, normalizacja i optymalizacja, ujarzmienie, zarządzanie mentalnością, techniki siebie, badam główne założenia i cele tutoringu/mentoringu/coachingu i próbuję je kwestionować poprzez dostrzeżenie w nich technik władzy skrycie pracującej na rzecz trenowania nowego, społecznie i ekonomicznie pożądanego typu podmiotowości w dobie turbokapitalizmu. Moją intencją nie jest potępianie teorii i praktyki nowych metod kształcenia, takich jak tutoring. Co mnie interesuje, to pokazanie dzięki narzędziom oferowanym przez teksty M. Foucaulta, że szczytne cele, jakie przyświecają samej idei lifelong learningu mogą mieć swoją drugą, bardziej ambiwalentną stronę, którą nie wszyscy pedagogowie umieją czy chcą uwzględnić. W twórczym dialogu z ustaleniami pedagogiki emancypacyjnej usiłuję zatem zarysować alternatywną przestrzeń dla dyskusji o polityce całożyciowego uczenia się i jej kolejnych wynalazkach – dyskusji wykazującej być może niższy poziom entuzjazmu od tego, jaki płynie z publikacji niektórych teoretyków kształcenia ustawicznego, za to osadzonej głębiej pod względem krytycznym i filozoficznym.
    My goal in this paper is to strengthen the critical awareness of educators working within the discourse of lifelong learning. In my analysis of the main assumptions and aims of the discourses of tutoring, mentoring and coaching, I employ Michel Foucault’s critical concepts such as disciplinary and pastoral power, bio-power, normalisation and optimisation of individuals, subjectivisation, and techniques of the self. I further argue that the Foucauldian critique of these “methods” of education, newly bred within andragogy and counselling, allows one to identify them as menacingly effective strategies of power, which works towards generating a new model of human subjectivity, socially and economically desired in the era of rabid capitalism. My intention is not to condemn the theory and practice of the new educational methods, such as tutoring. What interests me is to demonstrate that, thanks to tools offered by M. Foucault’s texts, lofty goals of the very idea of lifelong learning can have its second, more ambivalent side, which not all pedagogists can or want to consider. In a creative dialogue with the assumptions of the emancipatory pedagogy I try to outline an alternative space for a discussion about the policy of lifelong learning and its subsequent inventions – a discussion that perhaps shows less enthusiasm from the one in publications of some lifelong learning theoreticians, but regarding the critical and philosophical aspects it is embedded deeper.

    Artykuł dotyczy edukacji sukcesorów i opiera się na wynikach autorskiego badania, którego celem była próba ustalenia, w jakim stopniu i zakresie praktyki mentoringowe przyczyniają się do nabywania wiedzy przez potencjalnych i rzeczywistych sukcesorów w przedsiębiorstwie rodzinnym. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na możliwości i ograniczenia wykorzystania praktyk mentoringowych podczas międzypokoleniowego transferu wiedzy w przedsiębiorstwie rodzinnym. W warstwie teoretycznej artykuł opiera się na wynikach przeglądu literatury naukowej. W części empirycznej wykorzystano analizę wtórną danych zastanych. Przedstawiono fragmentaryczne wyniki zrealizowanego badania, którym objęto potencjalnych i rzeczywistych sukcesorów przedsiębiorstw rodzinnych w Polsce. Wyniki badań wskazują, że praktyki mentoringowe podejmowane przez nestora pozwalają na realizację kolejnych etapów w rozwoju zawodowym młodszego pokolenia, a także jego przygotowanie do kontynuacji tradycji i zwyczajów rodzinnych w przyszłości.
    This article concerns the education of successors and is based on the results of the author’s research, which attempted to determine to what extent and scope mentoring practices contribute to the acquisition of knowledge by potential and actual successors in a family business. Particular attention was paid to possibilities and limitations of using mentoring practices during intergenerational knowledge transfer in a family business. In the theoretical part the article is based on the results of the review of scien‑ tific literature. In the empirical part secondary analysis of data was used. Presented fragmentary research results covered potential and actual successors of family businesses in Poland. The results of the research indicate that mentoring practices undertaken by the nestor allow for the realization of successive stages in the professional development of the next generation, as well as its preparation for the continuation of family traditions and customs in the future.
