Remote Education in the Foreign Language Preschool Education — Practical Approach Even though the children’ motivation to learn and cooperate with others is undeniably high, this tendency can still be disturbed by numerous aspects depended on the teacher, such as the classroom management, the selection of teaching aids or methods. This task become even more demanding with the necessity of remote education of preschool children. The aim of this article is to present the practical approach of the remote education in the foreign language preschool teaching process. First, the role of language teaching among the preschool children will be described. The aspects such as special needs and abilities will be emphasized. Secondly, the methods and difficulties of remote language teaching in kindergarten will be presented. Finally, the description of the practical approach will be divided into synchronous and asynchronous solutions, containing some examples of exercises.

The aim of the article is to present vital issues related to the school situation of foreign children in Poland. The first part concerns the processes of education and integration of this group of students and legal possibilities to support them. The second one is devoted to the presentation of two (co-written by the author of the article) pedagogical innovations (intercultural portfolio and intercultural tales), which allow us to work with foreigners (kindergarten or first grade) and culturally diverse groups. They serve teaching Polish as a foreign language and forming sensitivity towards otherness. Poland is a country with a relatively low degree of cultural diversity. Working with foreign students is still a big challenge for the teaching staff. Properly chosen educational methods are an important part of the success of the education and integration of foreign students. Evaluation studies show that the methods presented in the text, because of their specificity (possibility of an active and creative learning), gained approval of students and teachers, and are effective. They motivate students to learn and share knowledge about their own culture. They can be used in the course of various activities in the area of education. This article is for everyone interested in intercultural education of children.

Dynamizacja procesów migracyjnych i nierozerwalnie związana z nią akcelerująca mobilność zawodowa są wszechobecne w otaczającym świecie. Kształtują one współczesny rynek pracy, implikując jednocześnie imperatyw ciągłego doskonalenia się i nabywania nowych, aktualnie poszukiwanych przez pracodawców kompetencji. Paralelnie wpisują się więc w ideę całożyciowego uczenia się (ang. lifelong learning). Jednym z rodzajów powyższych kompetencji jest znajomość języków obcych. Jej brak stanowi barierę w poszukiwaniu pracy w innym kraju, staje się inhibitorem awansu zawodowego, sprzyja ponadto ekskluzji społecznej migrantów- prowadząc niejednokrotnie do dezintegracji ich rodzin. Dlatego też celem niniejszego artykułu jest ukazanie oraz zaakcentowanie obligatoryjności kształcenia języków obcych w świetle wymogów rynku pracy dyktowanych przez wszechobecne, wielowymiarowe procesy migracyjne.
The dynamics of migration processes and the inherent accelerating labour mobility are ubiquitous in the surrounding world. They shape the contemporary labour market, implying the imperative of continual improvement and acquisition of new competences sought by employers. Parallelly, they fit into the idea of lifelong learning. One of the above competences is the knowledge of foreign languages. Its lack is a barrier while looking for a job in another country, it poses an inhibitor of career advancement and can lead to social exclusion of the migrants, often causing the disintegration of their families. Therefore, the aim of this article is to discuss and stress the compulsory nature of the foreign language education in the light of labour market requirements dictated by the omnipresent multidimensional migration processes.

Opis:
Using various forms of computer-assisted instruction in foreign language teacher and translator training has become an obvious fact. While fully distance programs are rather scarce, more and more projectsadopt the blended learning approach mediated by different webbased tools. The purpose of the paper is to critically describe and analyse a myriad of tools used as e-learning platforms: Learning Management Systems, glottodidactic platforms, virtual worlds, wikis and social networking tools. It is essential to see different dimensions of innovation in language teacher and translator training, in terms of technology, course management and task design. The discussion will be based on examples of projects run through the tools under analysis in different university programmes all over Poland.

Foreign languages have been an obligatory educational area in early integrated education since 2008 and, as a result, there should be integrated content, methods and didactic devices in the process of the foreign language teaching of young learners. The aim of this article is to describe the situation of the integration of the teaching of foreign languages into integrated educational studies of I‒III classes. However, the main question of this research is if the foreign language is integrated enough in that area of education of the young learners. The research of that article was conducted thanks to quantitative methods ‒ namely a survey. After the analysis of the research, some conclusions are suggested that all foreign language teachers should understand the idea of integration, consult the content, didactic methods and didactic devices with the main teacher and integrate it with other educational areas of early education. According to the research, an insufficient number of groups do so. There have been many valuable publications about the early education integrated studies but there are only a few books and articles about the integration of foreign languages. The theme of the teaching of foreign languages in the model of integrated studies has not yet been developed and this is why this research offers something quite new and interesting, albeit in need of further study.
Obcy język został wprowadzony w edukacji zintegrowanej jako obowiązkowy obszar edukacyjny w 2008 roku, czego rezultatem powinny być zintegrowane treści, metody i środki dydaktyczne w procesie nauczania języka obcego młodszych uczniów. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest ukazanie sytuacji integracji nauczania języka obcego w przestrzeni edukacji zintegrowanej w klasach I‒III. Głównym pytaniem tego artykułu jest, czy język obcy jest dostatecznie zintegrowany w przestrzeni tej edukacji młodszych uczniów. Badania zostały przeprowadzone dzięki metodzie ilościowej – ankiecie. Po analizie badań nasuwają się następujące wnioski. Wszyscy nauczyciele języka obcego powinni rozumieć ideę integracji, konsultować treści, metody i środki dydaktyczne z nauczycielem klasy i integrować je z pozostały obszarami edukacji wczesnoszkolnej. Według badań niewystarczająca grupa nauczycieli obecnie tak czyni. Jest wiele cennych publikacji na temat integracji w edukacji wczesnoszkolnej, ale tylko parę książek i artykułów na temat integracji języka obcego. Temat nauczania języka obcego w modelu zintegrowanej edukacji nie został jeszcze dostatecznie zgłębiony. Dlatego badania związane z tym artykułem są stosunkowo nowe i interesujące, jednakże są fragmentaryczne i wymagają kontynuacji.

Celem opracowania było wykazanie użyteczności analizy ważności-realizacji do pomiaru i oceny jakości usług nauczania języków obcych. Badanie przeprowadzono metodą ankietową. Kwestionariusz ankiety składał się z dwóch części. Pierwszą stanowiły pytania metryczkowe, charakteryzujące uczniów, a drugą, merytoryczną, atrybuty jakościowe usług nauczania języków obcych. Analiza wyników przeprowadzonego badania pozwala stwierdzić, że należy dążyć do doskonalenia parametrów związanych z niezawodnością oraz dostępnością świadczonych usług. Przeprowadzona analiza literatury wykazała, że skale ważności-realizacji dotychczas nie były wykorzystywane do pomiaru jakości usług nauczania języków obcych, zatem wypełnienie tej luki stanowi element innowacyjny w opracowaniu.
The purpose of this paper was to prove the usefulness of importance-performance scales in measurement and evaluation of the quality of foreign language education services. The study was carried out with the use of a survey method. The questionnaire was composed of two parts. The first part consisted of demographical questions characterizing students and the second part, the substantial one, encompassed quality attributes of foreign language education services. The analysis of the results of the study demonstrates that it is necessary to improve parameters connected with reliability and availability of provided services. The analysis of literature demonstrates that importance-performance scales have not yet been used for the measurement of the quality of foreign language education services, therefore filling this gap constitutes the innovative element of the study.

Prezentowany poniżej artykuł dotyczy istotnej kwestii staropolskich podróży po Europie w epoce nowożytnej. Rozważania oparte są na kanwie jednego z ciekawszych i obszerniejszych dzienników podróżnych napisanych przez Polaka i po polsku – wileńskiego księdza Kazimierza Jana Wojsznarowicza. Podróż, która miała miejsce w latach 1667‒1669 objęła kilka krajów europejskich: Niemcy, Holandię, Niderlandy Hiszpańskie, Francję i Włochy. Relacja podróżna zawiera wiele spostrzeżeń autora nt. sztuki, religii, ustroju politycznego, obyczajów. Ks. Wojsznarowicz opisał szczegółowo w dzienniku podróży także swoją pracę naukową i działalność wydawniczą oraz postępy w edukacji czynione przez jego podopiecznego – Aleksandra Janusza Zasławskiego-Ostrogskiego.
The main purpose of the article is a question of old Polish journeys across Europe in the modern epoch. Our considerations are based on the ground-work in the form of journal of travel written in the second half of 17 th century. This account of travel was written by the Polish priest from Vilnius Kazimierz Jan Wojsznarowicz. He wrote this text in Polish using also numerous Latin expressions. This journey took place in the years 1667‒1669, in times of mature baroque. It included coverage of several European countries (Germany – various duchies, Holland, Spanish Netherlands, France, Italy and Austria). This account of travel includes many observations of its author about different questions of culture, nature, politics (system of government) and realities of traveling: art, religion, landscapes, flights boats, means of communication, administration, political structure, science, theater, customs of populations and many others. Father Wojsznarowicz described in his account of travel in detail also his research work and publishing activity (writing and publishing printed sermons) and also progress in education of his pupil, he took care of during the journey – young polish magnate Aleksander Janusz Zasławski-Ostrogski, descendant of famous parentage.

The aim of the research study was to investigate the opinions of the Slovakian secondary school foreign language teachers and learn about their views on the system of education in the field of enhancement of teachers` professional qualifications. Methods. To perform the results of the study the method of focus group was used. Results. The results of the presented research show the differences between the perception of foreign language education in the past and how it appears today through the views of selected number of foreign language teachers in Slovakia. The pivotal role is played by the technological skills of the students and their ability to use information technologies instructed in foreign languages. The research results also indicate the possibilities of teachers to get in direct contact with the target foreign language as a part of their professional development. The research participants also specified the factors that they considered the most influential in the process of foreign language learning. Conclusion. The purpose of the article is to discuss the urge to achieve highly professional foreign language education in today`s technological society. As shown by the results obtained from the focus group, the teachers/participants agreed on a single highly impactful factor: family.

Celem opracowania była ocena poziomu jakości usług nauczania języków obcych. Badanie przeprowadzono metodą ankietową. Kwestionariusz ankiety składał się z dwóch części. Pierwszą stanowiły pytania metryczkowe, charakteryzujące uczniów, a drugą, merytoryczną, stanowiły atrybuty jakościowe usług nauczania języków obcych. Analiza wyników przeprowadzonego badania pozwala stwierdzić, że najniżej oceniono wystrój pomieszczeń, najwyżej zaś kwalifikacje personelu.
The purpose of this paper was the evaluation of the quality of foreign language educational services. The study was carried out with the use of a survey method. The questionnaire was composed of two parts. The first part consists of demographical questions characterizing students and the second part, the substantial one, encompasses quality attributes of foreign language education services. The analysis of the results of the study demonstrates that the decorations of the rooms were evaluated at the lowest level and the teachers qualifications were evaluated as the highest ones.

Niniejszy artykuł porusza kwestię zmian, jakie zachodzą w obszarze nauczania języka obcego, a które związane są z wprowadzaniem nowych technologii do szkół w Polsce. Porównano, jak zmiany te wpływają na uczniów oraz nauczycieli tak w Polsce, jak w Stanach Zjednoczonych. Podkreślono również, że polscy nauczyciele bardzo niechętnie podchodzą do wdrażania narzędzi cyfrowych do procesu edukacji. Wyodrębniono także przyczyny lęków i obaw nauczycieli na całym świecie, związanych z takim zmianami.
The paper addresses the issue of changes taking place in an area of foreign language education, which are related to the introduction of new technologies into schools in Poland. The article compares how these changes affect students and teachers both in Poland and in the United States. It also stresses that Polish teachers are reluctant to implement the digital tools in the process of education. Also, there were isolated the causes of anxiety and worry amongst the teachers worldwide, associated with such changes.

In the study LACE (Languages and Cultures in Europe), which was carried out in 2008 for the European Commission’s Directorate for Multilingualism, the team started from the perception that education – and especially foreign language teaching – can fulfil at least a part of the expectations, if it focuses concretely on the development of abilities, skills and, above all, intercultural competences of pupils. The project LACE was built on theories of intercultural competences (Chen and Starosta 2005; Byram 1997, 2000, 2001, 2002) with an objective to deliver some evidence to form a basis for devising appropriate policies in the European multilingual space.

The aim of the article is to outline the foundations of critical foreign language didactics, which refers to critical and post-Foucauldian discourse analysis as well as dispositive analysis. The first part of the paper forms a reconstruction of the enmeshment of vocational language education in a number of contexts (political, migrational, and integrative). Constituting a transformative variant of language didactics and examining vocational language education, critical foreign language didactics will be perceived as a research program pertaining to the reflection on education and pedagogical activity (under the framework of critical pedagogy), teaching and learning (from the standpoint of the critical trend in general didactics), and language education and its specificity within teaching and learning particular languages (in the context of foreign language didactics). The final part of the paper will present methodological implications by indicating potential directions for – and levels of – vocational language education analysis. It will also offer an attempt at their further clarification aimed at a critical analysis of subject formation and forms of subjectification that draws from the dispositive analysis.

My paper deals with the significance of introducing the cultural component in foreign language teaching as well as the necessity of developing young people’s sensitivity to culture, especially to art and literature. In the article, the basic definitions and relevant terms connected with culture are discussed, according to the current status of glottodidactic knowledge. The question of how and to what extent should the cultural component be introduced in the school is also raised. Moreover, the aims of teaching cultural elements as well as their role and importance in foreign language learning are presented. In the final part of the text I describe an example of a practical pedagogical application of the cultural component, which can be used during English classes. This crosscultural studies project consists of three lessons, focused on a chosen aspect of British culture, namely the creation of two representatives of the 18thcentury art and literature. The presentation of this project supports the thesis that the combination of teaching language together with cultural elements is possible. It also serves as an example of how to achieve this aim and, simultaneously, how to make lessons both educational and untypical, which means more entertaining for the students. All in all, the aim of the article is to emphasise the need for aesthetic education as well as to raise teachers’ and educators’ awareness of the aforementioned problem.

The aim of the paper is to answer the question of what is the role of Feedback in the process of learning English as a foreign language. Feedback is an important element of student-teacher interaction in the classroom. Even experienced teachers admit that it is beneficial to put oneself in the student’s position in order to understand their individual needs, and hence adjust the instruction, assessment and feedback moves to aid language acquisition. Since errors are an unavoidable part of the learning process and teachers feel compelled to address students’ spoken errors, it seems significant to consider how the learners perceive the feedback they receive.
