phytotoxicity - Opis:
- The aim of this study was to estimate the ecotoxicity of the soil from the Irrigated Fields in Wroclaw (SWPoland). Research was carried out in 2011 using Phytotoxkit microbiotests, which measured the inhibition of seed germination and root growth retardation of three plant species of dicotyl Lepidium sativum, Sinapis alba and monocotyl Sorgum saccharatum. The sensitivity of the plants increased according to the following gradient: S. saccharum < L. sativum < S. alba. However, the average phytotoxicity remained at the level between -6.48 and 16.03% (class I- no significant toxic effect) of seed germination inhibition as well as between 12.28 (class I - no significant toxic effect) and 71.33% (class III - toxic sample) of root growth inhibition. The results show spatial variability in phytotoxicity, probably due to a local change in physical and chemical properties of the soil. Average values of phytotoxicity (38.68%) have indicated the toxicity class II interpreted as a low toxic effect. A positive correlation between root growth inhibition and: hygroscopic water content (r = 0.62; p = 0.025) and with organic matter content (r = 0.72; p = 0.005) in the soil were recorded. The effect of the long-term sewage irrigation and heavy metals contamination on the soil phytotoxicity in the context of the planned change of land useis are discussed.
