In the information society conditions and social needs are constantly changing. The development of information technology together with the new methods of gathering and distributing information that have been generated open the way to alternative forms of education in knowledge society. Intensive development of distance education is a response to changes caused by the escalating pace of innovation in many areas of social and economic life. Computers and the Internet are replacing the previous model of traditional education. The development of technology has contributed to the search of mobile forms of learning, or e-learning. E-learning allows you to fill gaps in the traditional teaching. Modern techniques allow you to find previously unknown solutions that can be used to streamline the process of distance learning. Both traditional education and the world of business treat e-learning as an effective tool that supports science. The convenient application of this tool, the opportunity to individually decide about the time devoted to studying, low costs and easy access speak for applying e-learning as an educational method. This article attempts to present the role of the Internet in the educational process. The aim of the paper was to show the influence of e-learning on raising the efficiency of education.

Opis:
The evolution of theoretical learning concepts brings new stimuli to lifelong learning practice. One of the new theoretical bases appropriate for adult education is an experiential learning theory which analyses and evaluates educational projects and study materials for distance learning as well as e-learning educational programmes from the standpoint of potential learning effectiveness. At the same time, it can be a gnoseological theoretical basis of designing educational programmes for adults, either on a theoretical basis of distance learning, e-learning, or on the basis of their purposeful integration, which is becoming more and more frequent in andragogy. The study gives general tenets of andragogy, presents the main characteristics of experiential learning along with its two major developmental variants – Kolb’s cycle and Jarvis´ revised model of the processes of learning. It defines the basic features of distance learning and e-learning, and formulates general stimuli how to apply experiential learning within these relatively integral educational technologies. In conclusion, it brings about information on practical use of theoretical approaches to teaching pedagogical subjects within educational programmes at universities.

At work, distance learning methods have been compared in Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice (Poland) and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul (South Korea). The results of the empirical research among the academic teachers and students conducted in both universities are similar: distance learning is not satisfying for both groups and it is not effective.

This article examines distance learning in individual European countries and the Czech Republic. It analyses and compares the development of distance learning, and the supply of study options in the form of distance learning in European countries; it covers the development, conditions, and history of distance learning in European countries. The carried out analysis shows that currently there is an emphasis on lifelong learning, and the development of distance learning has become a priority. It can be further stated there are significant differences in the development of distance learning in individual European countries, and in the Czech Republic distance learning has only started to develop in the past twenty years.

The article considers the advantages and disadvantages of implementing distance learning for medical students’ training in quarantine. The issues of using e-learning methods in distance learning have been analysed. In the teaching methodology, the questions of determining the feasibility, advantages and disadvantages of implementing distance learning in the educational space and distinguishing between the concepts of “distance learning” and “e-learning” appear. The term “e-learning” is often interpreted as synonymous with “distance learning”, but the authors of this article note that this is not entirely correct. E-learning is only one of the forms used in combination with other forms of learning. Distance learning at the modern level involves the implementation of the educational process only by the network. Distance learning is a method of attending class even if students cannot be there physically. According to the Regulation “On distance learning” in Poltava State Medical University, “distance learning is a set of educational services provided through modern psychological, pedagogical, information and communication technologies”. The purpose of distance learning at the university is to introduce modern information and communication technologies to train the specialists at the educational and qualification levels “bachelor” and “master”, training programmes for interns, and advanced training of doctors according to national educational standards. The article analyses the modern pedagogical research of Ukrainian and foreign schools and presents the results of the analysis of students’ and teachers’ opinions on the introduction of distance learning in the educational process. The article also presents the results of implementing distance education at the Poltava State Medical University in the disciplines “Medical Physics” and “Medical Informatics”. The result of the study proved that distance learning has only advantages theoretically. In practice, many problems need to be solved.

The content of the main study was focused on defining the social and educational conditions of the distance learning application. Part of the article is a historical retrospective of distance learning from the implementation of the first milestones made in cooperation with the material. In the additional part, the modern reference of remote education from the point of view of didactics of a higher school was taken into account. The last point is a review platform for e-learning serving today in education.

The aim of this paper is to compare various forms of distance learning in terms of the effectiveness and efficiency of teaching and their subjective evaluation by students. Three forms of remote teaching were analysed for the elective general university course in the winter semester of the 2020/2021 academic year: G1 – with all materials embedded on an e-learning platform for fully asynchronous learning – and with no live meetings, but specially prepared video tutorials replacing them, G2 – with materials embedded on an e-learning platform and lectures conducted synchronously through videoconferences (without video recordings), G3 – with materials embedded on an e-learning platform, synchronous lectures via video conferences and their recordings available afterwards. Final grades, a record of activity at the e-learning platform and the results of questionnaires collected from all participants of the course were taken into account when carrying out the statistical analysis. The analysis proved that the most effective form of learning (the lowest number of hours devoted to learning in order to pass the subject, as well as the percentage of students who completed the course) was the one applied in group G1. According to the opinions of the students, the highest level of satisfaction from the classes was recorded for group G2. The research brings various implications for practice or policy: for teachers interested in improving the effectiveness of their online teaching; for teachers preparing an intervention with the aim of improving students’ remote learning engagement and its quality; supporting teachers’ research engagement in the improvement of educational standards and systems; and learning planners can use these insights helpful in planning online learning projects.

Nowadays it is difficult to talk about the real and virtual world in the context of contemporary students. Perhaps even talking about „on-line” vs „off-line” is a thing of the past, since some of us are always online. Remote learning changes the approach to school and extracurricular education and affects all levels of education. An important aspect of considerations on school and academic e-learning is so called the bottom-up push, i.e. the involvement of enthusiasts discovering the secrets of e-learning platforms in front of their pupils and the willingness of these pupils and students. Observing the changes implemented in the education system over the last decades, we can honestly state, that these were rather sham movements, unable to change the class-lesson system and its elements burdening us as the subjects of the education process. What happened, then? What powers have changed school and academic education, so that we have found ourselves in the digital world? Have we started using mobile solutions? Can we conduct online classes? Is this a necessary evil or an opportunity for tomorrow (for universities/schools, students/pupils, lecturers/teachers and for modern, constantly learning societies)? Distance learning contributes to creating new spaces for educational interactions. It enables both mass and individual education in synchronous and asynchronous modes.

Celem artykułu jest wskazanie możliwości wykorzystania systemów ekspertowych w nauczaniu na odległość. W artykule przedstawiono standardy e-learningu, inteligentne systemy nauczania, zaliczane do najwyżej zorganizowanych systemów komputerowego wspomagania procesu edukacyjnego, oraz przykłady zastosowań systemów ekspertowych. Literaturę przedmiotu zebrano na podstawie analizy zawartości bibliograficznych baz danych: ERIC (1966-) i INSPEC (1969-). Wybrano reprezentatywne przykłady systemów stosowanych w edukacji, do nauczania języków obcych, matematyki i muzyki. Omówiono zintegrowany system szkoleniowy, pozwalający na dostosowanie nauczania do indywidualnych cech ucznia. Zwrócono szczególną uwagę na systemy ekspertowe z interfejsem w języku naturalnym. W zakończeniu wskazano na możliwości zastosowania e-learningu z wykorzystaniem systemów ekspertowych do wspomagania nauczania i uczenia się oraz w kształceniu użytkowników bibliotek.
This article aims to identify the possibilities of using expert systems in distance learning. This paper presents the standards of e-learning, intelligent teaching systems classified as the most organized computer aided learning process and examples of applications of expert systems. Literature was collected on the basis of analysis of bibliographic databases: ERIC (1966 -) and INSPEC (1969 -). Representative examples of systems used in education, teaching of foreign languages, mathematics and music were selected. An integrated training system that allows you to adjust the curriculum to individual student characteristics was discussed in the article. Particular attention was devoted to expert systems with natural language interface. The possibility of using e-learning with the use of expert systems to support teaching and learning and training for library users was indicated at the end.

The paper deals with new training technologies development based on approach to distance learning website, implemented in the laboratory of a Traffic Engineering study branch at Faculty of Transport. The discussed computing interface allows students complete knowledge of traffic controllers' architecture and machine language programming fundamentals. These training facilities are available at home; at their remote terminal. The training resources consist of electronic / computer based training; guidebooks and software units. The laboratory provides the students with an interface entering into simulation packages and programming interfaces, supporting the web training facilities. The courseware complexity selection is one of the most difficult factors in intelligent training unit's development. The dynamically configured application provides the user with his individually set structure of the training resources. The trainee controls the application structure and complexity, from the time he started. For simplifying the training process and studying activities, several unifications were provided. The introduced ideas need various standardisations, simplifying the e-learning units' development and application control processes [8], [9]. Further training facilities development concerns virtual laboratory environment organisation in laboratories of Transport Faculty.
Artykuł opisuje wybrane aspekty rozwoju nowych technik kształcenia opartych o technologie internetowe. Opisane prace zostały zaprojektowane i zaimplementowane w laboratorium Cyfrowych Systemów Sterowania, na specjalności Inżynieria Ruchu, kierunku Transport w Politechnice Śląskiej. Opisane elementy interfejsu użytkownika pozwalają dokonać indywidualnego doboru tematyki kursu / lekcji w zakresie podstaw architektury sterowników ruchu drogowego oraz zasad ich programowania na poziomie języka maszynowego. Oferowany serwis kształcenia można udostępnić do pracy domowej studenta; na jego odległym terminalu. Zasoby systemu zawierają zarówno elementy elektronicznego kształcenia jak i przewodniki tradycyjne, wspomagające samodzielną pracę studenta. Portal komunikacyjny udostępnia studentowi blok symulacyjny sterownika wraz z narzędziami samodzielnej konfiguracji lekcji. Poziom złożoności lekcji zostaje dopasowany do aktualnego poziomu wiedzy użytkownika. To jedno z najtrudniejszych zagadnień projektowania inteligentnych systemów kształcenia. Dynamicznie konfigurowanie aplikacji umożliwia bieżące sterownie poziomem złożoności lekcji. Interakcje ćwiczącego sterują na bieżąco stopniem złożoności lekcji, od chwili jej uruchomienia. Dla uproszczenia procesów kształcenia oraz aktywności studenta zaproponowano szereg unifikacji systemu, prowadzące do uproszczenia stopnia złożoności dalszych aplikacji, w systemu kształcenia na odległość. Dalsze prace na tym polu będą rozwijane w kierunku Uniwersytetu Wirtualnego w laboratoriach Wydziału Transportu.

Introduction and aim. In Poland, on 25 March 2020, distance learning, which for many people was known only from literature, entered into force. As a result, education could no longer be provided in its current form and was therefore provided online. Therefore, the main aim of the presented research was an attempt to verify the pandemic and distance education impact on students psychophysical conditions and satisfaction. Material and methods. Some primary school students (grades 6th-8th), secondary school students from the Subcarpathian Voivodeship in Poland and also some university students from foreign countries completed an anonymous survey on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on their physical and mental condition as well as on some aspects of distance education. The research was conducted in December 2021 and 804 students (Primary and Secondary School) and 64 university students completed the survey. Results. Both the primary and the secondary school students claimed they were quite satisfied with distance education. The mostly approved aspect of online education was the fact that the time of learning was fitted to students’ needs. Difficulties in distance learning indicated by students were mainly connected with their mental health. Therefore, many students suffered from mental health and concentration problems, unwillingness to be active, apathy. The pandemic was also a stress factor for students and a reason why they were in a bad mood. The pandemic was the reason for an increased interest in natural sciences among 31.3% of primary school students, among 20.8% of secondary school students and among 17.3% of university students from foreign countries. Distance education influenced physical health of almost half of the respondents in both types of schools. The pandemic had an impact on mental health state of almost half of primary school students. 65% of secondary school students said that the pandemic influenced both their mental and physical health. In case of university students the pandemic did not influence their physical health in a significant way (65.4%). The study shows that primary school students used the Internet mainly to play games (almost 50% of the respondents), watch films, listen to music, do homework. Online lessons were only 20% of the answers. Conclusion. There has been a significant impact of COVID-19 on students in elementary school, high school, and university. This resulted in negative mental and physical effects. Respondents were stressed, depressed, and unmotivated. Approximately half of them engaged in physical activity very rarely or rarely. Even though they were satisfied with online learning, which was caused by the COVID-2019 pandemic, the greatest problem was mental concentration problems, lack of motivation, and social isolation.

Opis:
The article concerns theoretical considerations on psychological concepts of learning in the context of e-learning. The author begins the theoretical analysis by reviewing the literature, including behavioural, cognitive and humanistic theories. Based on a detailed analysis, cognitivism is indicated as a theory that has particular application in e-learning, especially due to the continuity of the teaching process and adapting the content to the student’s level. An example of a cognitive model is D. Kolb’s model, which can be effectively used in e-learning because it includes closed cognitiveexperimental processes. The basic argument for adopting cognitive theories as dominant in e-learning is their ability to maintain the continuity of the educational process, which can be effectively implemented via e-learning platforms. A key element connecting cognitive theories with e-learning is the Multiple Coding Theory, which suggests that the transfer of knowledge becomes more effective when it takes place through different channels, enabling reception through several senses.

Opis:
Przedstawiono problem pobudzania aktywności studentów w procesie kształcenia. Problem związany jest z zachęceniem studentów do systematycznej pracy. Analiza została dokonana na podstawie kursu e-learningowego wspomagającego tradycyjny proces kształcenia na studiach zaocznych dla specjalności Technika komputerowa w inżynierii rolniczej. Podjęto próbę określenia głównych czynników stymulujących aktywność studentów przy opanowywaniu materiału.
A problem of stimulation of students' activity in learning process is presented. It is connected with encouraging of students to work systematically. The analysis was made on the ground of e-learning course assisting traditional learning process on extramural studies on speciality: computer technology in agricultural engineering. It was attempt to define main factors stimulating students' activity during mastering a subject.
