    The results of field soil-and-geobotanical research study of the pastures near settlement Lepsy located in the desert area of the Almaty region are shown. The particularities of the climatic conditions for the formation of desert pastures in Southern Balkhash area are described. The characteristics of the plant cover of the pastures and the graybrown soils formed under them are provided. The effects of long unsystematic use of the pastures in the conditions of the growth of concentrated grazing areas near settlements on the degradation of the plant and soil covers have been identified, and four stages of degradation have been outlined by seven indicators. In determining the boundaries, the spectrometric characteristics of the surface of the pastures in the spectrum of near-infrared (600–750 nm), blue (400–500 nm), and red (500–600 nm) bands were used.

    Artykuł podejmuje problematykę związaną z panoramami miasta na przykładzie Poznania. Temat ten został podjęty ze względu na nieuwzględnianie w kształtowaniu struktury miasta ochrony panoram oraz zachowania ekspozycji obiektów wyróżniających się w sylwecie. Przedstawione zostały metody badania sposobu odbioru przestrzeni miasta, widoków panoramicznych, a także dominant i ich oddziaływania. Opisane analizy obejmują zmiany percepcji panoram miejskich na tle przekształceń struktury przestrzennej miasta dotyczące przeszłości oraz współczesną percepcję krajobrazu miasta. Zwrócono również uwagę na planowane inwestycje, które prawdopodobnie pojawią się w Poznaniu, i na ich wpływ na odbiór wizualny miasta. Wszechstronne i wieloaspektowe badania doprowadziły do sformułowania wniosków oraz wytycznych odnośnie kształtowania struktury przestrzennej Poznania. Dało to podstawę do wyznaczenia stref o różnym reżimie ochrony i dopuszczalnych kierunkach przekształceń, zgodnych z charakterem i wartością danego obszaru. Przeprowadzone badania dowiodły wartości panoram Poznania, w których zapisana jest historia i rozwój przestrzenny miasta. Zwracają również uwagę na przyczynę niepożądanych przekształceń cennych widoków miasta, którą jest brak odpowiednich analiz i niewłaściwe decyzje planistyczne. Kształtowanie rozwoju przestrzennego powinny zapewniać studia oraz plany miejscowe, sporządzane dla całego obszaru miasta. W połączeniu z zaproponowanymi w pracy analizami i wytycznymi krajobrazowymi mogą tworzą skuteczne narzędzia ochrony wartości kulturowych, budujących tożsamość miasta.

    Opis:
    The article provides brief geobotanical characteristics of plant communities of three populations of R. iliensis Chrshan. found in the floodplains of the Ili and Sharyn rivers, as well as presents the morpho-anatomical structure of vegetative organs (stem and leaf) of the species under study. R. iliensis Chrshan. is undoubtedly a rare, endangered species of the flora of Kazakhstan. Its distribution area is shrinking from year to year as a result of the anthropogenic pressure on the environment. The biometric indicators of vegetative organs in the samples collected from populations 1 and 2 were approximately the same. The indicators of the samples collected from population 3 differed substantially. This is a completely natural process, since there are substantial differences in the climatic conditions of the upper and lower parts of the basin where the Ili River flows: a sharp increase in temperature and a decrease in precipitation from high to low hypsometric levels of the basin. Moreover, there is a gradual aridization of the territory from east to west. Naturally, this entails a change in both soil and vegetation cover as well as leaves its mark on the morpho-anatomical structure of vegetative organs. With this in mind, the authors recommend continuous monitoring of the state of the populations at the three sites where R. iliensis Chrshan. was found.

    Artykuł prezentuje efekt „dialogu” geografii humanistycznej z muzykologią. Poprzez warszawskie studium przypadku przedstawiono autorskie podejście do nazywania i opisywania zjawisk występujących w przestrzeni miejskiej z wykorzystaniem muzycznych analogii. Pokazanie tego sposobu myślenia o mieście, czyli transpozycji zjawisk muzycznych na miejską przestrzeń wraz z wyjaśnieniem wybranych analogii między kompozycją muzyczną a urbanistyczną, jest głównym celem artykułu. Wybranymi do rozważań elementami konstrukcyjnie wspólnymi dla muzyki i urbanistyki są dominanta oraz tonika. W tekście pokazano, że centralność Pałacu Kultury i Nauki można przyrównać do muzykologicznej prawidłowości odniesienia dośrodkowego. Autorskie podejście przedstawiono także w krytycznym ujęciu, tzn. omówiono jego ograniczenia oraz podjęto próbę dyskusji nad jego uniwersalnością w różnych skalach przestrzennych.
    The article is the effect of “dialogue” of human geography and musicology. It presents the author’s approach of analysis and description of urban space with the using of musical analogies through the Warsaw case study. The main goal of this article is to present this approach, which is transposition of musical phenomena into the urban space, and to explain selected analogies between the musical and urban composition. The elements chosen for consideration are dominant and tonic. They are constructively common to music and urban planning. In this article the author presented that the centrality of the Palace of Culture and Science can be compared to the musicological regularity of the centripetal reference. The author presented also the approach’s deficiency and discussed its universality in various spatial scales.

    This article suggests one of the possible ways of integrating teaching methods from the integration methods developed by the authors, namely: the integration based on the dominant teaching method. The article aims to substantiate the author’s methods of integrative teaching based on the dominant method and present the results of the approbation of these methods in higher schools. The project was implemented within the course “Medical Biophysics”. An integration algorithm as a dominant teaching method is proposed. The project contained several specific techniques. In the first specific method, the situational method is chosen as the dominant one. For the second one, the method of trials and coincidences is dominant. For diagnostics as a complex topic in medicine, physics, chemistry and other sciences, the problem method as dominant is dominant. In all methods, several other methods are gradually integrated into the dominant method, depending on the content and nature of the educational material. The practical significance of the project is to create algorithms for integrating teaching methods and the possibility of their transformation into other educational topics. The approbation shows an increase in the indicators of saving time and flexibility of knowledge.

    In 2018, the new symbol of the island of Bali, the statue of Garuda Vishnu Kencana was completed. It is located in a cultural park of the same name. The monument measures approximately 121 meters high, which makes it currently the third tallest statue in the world. The gods, mounted on a pedestal in the form of a 45-metre building, are the urban dominant on the Bukit peninsula.
    W 2018 roku ukończony został nowy symbol wyspy Bali - posąg Garuda Wisnu Kencana. Zlokalizowany został w parku kulturowym o tej samej nazwie. Monument mierzy około 121 metrów wysokości, co na dzień dzisiejszy czyni go trzecią co do wysokości statuą na świecie. Bogowie usadowieni na piedestale w postaci 45 metrowego budynku stanowią dominantę urbanistyczną na półwyspie Bukit.

    A church is one of the most important elements of the European cultural landscape, whereas the legibility of public spaces formed around temples was one of the key features of European historical towns. A strongly exposed sacral structure as the material and formal keystone acted as a dominant, a subdominant or an accent in the urban panorama. In the landscape and urban dimension, a Gothic cathedral as a mighty form still makes a strong point of reference in the space of a city as well as a creation with the highest degree of estheticizing a cultural landscape in every scale: from an extensive panorama to architectural detail.

    Autorka analizuje nowy polski przekład przygód Alicji, pióra Grzegorza Wasowskiego, wydany po tytułem Perypetie Alicji na Czarytorium. Określając przyjętą przez tłumacza strategię translatorską, zwraca uwagę na jej możliwe przyczyny i skutki oraz podejmuje dyskusję z autorem przekładu. Propozycja tłumacza – „lepiej [niż poprzednicy] się nie da, ale może inaczej?” – prowadzi autorkę do ponownego postawienia odwiecznego pytania o granice przekładu, jak również do wniosku, że w czasach odczytania tekstu jako jego interpretacji (ergo przekładu jako przekładu interpretacji i odbioru przekładu jako interpretacji interpretacji), każda kolejna interpretacja jest wartym uwagi ogniwem serii przekładowej.
    The paper brings an analysis of the new Polish translation of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Grzegorz Wasowski, published as Perypetie Alicji na Czarytorium. By defining the translation strategy followed by the translator and pointing to possible reasons for this choice and its consequences, the author enters into discussion with the translator. Wasowski claims that „it is not possible to do it better than the previous translators – but it is possible to do it differently”. This leads to the eternal question about limits of translation and to the conclusion that at the time when reading the text is considered as its interpretation (and hence a translation is a translation of an interpretation, and the reception of the translation is an interpretation of the interpretation) each new interpretation becomes a significant element of the translation series.

    Opis:
    Traditional roles of air forces in combat involve the subjugation of air space and the maintaining of superiority / domination in the skies in order to create favourable conditions to conduct successful land and naval operations. They are, thus, a component supporting other forces in joint military operations. Nowadays, air forces sometimes take the role of the dominant force (a component supported by other forces) and then the joint operations of armed forces are conducted in a way (as called in the article) of dominance from the air. This allows, especially in the so-called asymmetric conflicts, to obtain the military and political goals of the war without land or naval invasion. This is a new phenomenon in the Art of War, which the author of the article tries to identify, describe and systematise. To make waging a war through dominance from the air possible, airforces must have absolute freedom to use the air space in the whole area of a conflict and in the whole territory of an opponent. The current terminology related to dominance (superiority / domination) in the air and the theory of war in the air does not provide (describe) such a situation. In this article, the views in this respect, which were in force in NATO and the Warsaw Pact and are still in force in the US Armed Forces, NATO and the Russian Federation, are critically evaluated and a new terminology taxonomy for dominance in the air is suggested.
