Opis:
The effects of pyrite and diaspore with different particle sizes on the rheological properties of pulp with butyl xanthate added as a collector were studied, and the mechanism for rheological pyrite separation from diaspore by flotation was probed. The apparent viscosity of the diaspore pulp with different particle sizes was higher than that of pyrite, especially for -30 μm diaspore. Microfine diaspore was an important component affecting the apparent viscosity and yield stress of the diaspore-pyrite mixed pulp, and the pulp became a non-Newtonian fluid when the mass fraction of fine-grained diaspore in the mixed pulp was high. In this study, sodium hexametaphosphate (SHMP) was used to control the rheology of the mixed pulp and improve the pyrite flotation, and the S (sulfur) recovery rate first increased and then decreased with increasing SHMP concentration. The apparent viscosity of the pulp decreased by 3.01% and the S recovery rate increased by 34.83% when the amount of added SHMP was 0.05 mg/kg. The apparent viscosity with 0.50 mg/kg SHMP was 21.76% lower than that seen with the addition of 0.05 mg/kg SHMP, but the S recovery rate was also reduced by 14.94%. Further research showed that the increased SHMP concentration led to increases in the electronegativities of the particle surface and the repulsive force between particles, which prevented agglomeration of the particles, reduced the apparent viscosity and yield stress of the mixed pulp, promoted collisions between the pyrite particles and the bubbles, and reduced the resistance of the air bubbles to flotation.

Opis:
Frothing performance and stability of sodium oleate (NaOL) alone and in presence of methyl isobutyl methanol (MIBC), octanol (OCT) and polyethylene glycol (PEG) systems were studied and compared in order to enhance flotation separation of diasporic bauxite ore. Performance of a single (NaOL) and mixed systems (NaOL-MIBC, NaOL-OCT, NaOL-PEG) was evaluated through flotation tests, three-phase dynamic froth stability tests, zeta potential measurements and adsorption analysis. The mixed systems showed a stable froth and an improved recovery with their descending order NaOLPEG˃NaOL-OCT ˃ NaOL-MIBC. Adsorption analysis and zeta potential measurements suggested that, except NaOL adsorption, there was no significant co-adsorption of alcohols on the diaspore surface. However, adsorbed amount of NaOL on the diaspore surface was extremely high; accounts for more than 90% of the total substance used in the pulp.

Opis:
The wild boar is an omnivorous animal that disturbs the top soil layer by foraging (rooting). In some regions of Europe seasonal fluctuations in rooting have been observed. Wild boars not only eat plants, but also strongly modify their habitat. In the Białowieża Forest wild boar most frequently visit oak−hornbeam forests growing on fertile soil. On sites where the forest floor is covered with dense vegetation germination of seeds is difficult, and wild boar rooting can promote the removal of diaspores from deeper layers of the soil seed bank. The aim of this study was to assess the impact of wild boar rooting on the soil seed bank in a natural oak−linden−hornbeam forest. Observations were carried out on permanent plots in the strictly protected zone of the Biało− wieża National Park. Samples of the soil seed bank were taken from plots which showed varying intensities of wild boar rooting (frequency and average percentage of exposed ground surface). Areas to be sampled were selected on the basis of archival data. Research was conducted by the seedling emergence method during two vegetation seasons. Altogether, 7985 seedlings of 67 taxa germinated from 240 soil samples. The highest number of germinated seedlings and species were found in the highly rooted plots. In all the series dominant species was Urtica dioica. In the soil seed bank 19 species of anemochory germinated, and accounted for 27.5% of all species present in the seed bank of all series. Permanent wild boar rooting increased the species richness in the soil seed bank and increased the amount of species with higher light requirements.

Four 4-field crop rotations with different share of potatoes: 25, 50, 75 and 100% (monoculture) were compared in 1976 - 1984 on brown soil in the Experiment Station Bezek. Soil samples for further investigations were taken from the layers of 0-10, 10-20 and 20-30 cm after the end of the 1st (1980) and 2nd rotation and after the harvest of plants. Fruits and seeds of weeds were isolated from the samples and then counted and identified. It has been proved that along with increasing share of potatoes in the crop rotation a reduction in the first years followed in the next years with the growth of the reserve of fruits and seeds in soil, particularly those of Chenopodium album and Amaranthus retroflexus can be expected. Most heavily infested with diaspores appeared to be the soil layer of 0-10 cm. However, along with increasing share of potatoes and deeper soil tillage connected therewith a part of seeds and fruits of weeds reaches he soil layers of 10-20 and 20-30 cm.
