- The local press is hardly ever used for dialectological studies. Press texts from the Kielce monthly “Przemiany”; 1970–1989 can be a valuable source of language material for both the study of the language system of the Opoczno dialect and the dialect lexicon. They are represented by 26 chats from the Opoczno area and Opoczno proverbs. For the purpose of this article, I have extracted dialect vocabulary – 61 words from chats – and compared them with dictionary materials from other sources of Polish dialect lexicography: a collection of K. Dejna’s folk vocabulary, Słownik gwar małopolskich (Glossary of Little Poland dialects), Słownik gwary opoczyńskiej (Glossary of Opoczno dialects), the alphabetical index of words from the dictionary Słownik polskich gwar (Dictionary of Polish dialects). The research results show differences in the resources of this lexicon in the sources listed. They confirm the usefullness of press materials for lexicographic research.
