Dialogue is the conception which determined the ways of theological and priestly searching made after the Vatican Council II. The pontificate of John Paul II was the time in which the dialogue happened to be the daily measurement of the ecclesiological activity. The name Pontifex Maximus (The Most Important Bridge Builder), that was used in the title of that article, shows the greatest dignity of the Bishop of Rome in the priestly measurement. Hence John Paul II is the continuator of the Council’s dynamism simultaneously giving the dialogue’s bases and discrediting all its distortions. He showed the correct dialogue forms and pointed jobs to the particular members of the Church’s communion. He gave the propositions of meeting and initiated them, to representatives of other religions. The most spectacular events that show it are: the visit to the synagogue of Rome or The World’s Prayer for peace in Assisi. - Źródło:
