    This paper presents selected problems of principle of reciprocity. Reciprocity is one of the central problems of numerous concepts explaining social relations. It starts from the ancient principle of reciprocity (do ut des − I give that you may give) and ends with contemporary theories of interactionism, theories of social exchange or the philosophy of the meeting. In the theory of social exchange reciprocity pertains to exchange. In the philosophy of the meeting this is not the case for reciprocity. Reciprocity does not signify exchange. What is common in various versions of the philosophy of the meeting is a restrictive condition of current reciprocity consisting in mutual and permanent transformation of personalities in people meeting each other.There are two sorts of authors. The first sort of authors, deny the value of the principle of reciprocity for contemporary social life. The second sort of authors refers to practical implications of the principle of reciprocity. They show value of the principle of reciprocity for contemporary customs norm, moral and social life.

    Reciprocity is one of the central problems of numerous concepts explaining social relations. This paper presents selected problems of Polish conceptions of principle of reciprocity. There are two sorts of authors. The first sort of authors denies the value of the principle of reciprocity for contemporary social life (for example Z. Bauman and K. Szewczyk). The second refers to practical implications of the principle of reciprocity (for example M. Flis and J. Bierówka).

    When decisions are made sequentially in a group, Bayesian playersaiming to maximize individual payoffs often need to ignore their private information and imitate choices of earlier decision makers. This results in information cascades. Once formed, information cascades can be harmful to information aggregation and average payoffs in the group. Therefore, there is a potential dilemma facing players in such situations. They can reveal private information and risk lower immediate payoffs but benefit the group in the long run, or join an information cascade. It has been shown that reciprocity (i.e., paying a cost at one time while being compensated at another) can lead to optimal solutions in such dilemmas. We hypothesized that it would be so for the present one, as well. This hypothesis was tested in an experiment in which we manipulated two factors: the stability of players' positions in a sequence that determined whether reciprocity was possible, and the decision payoff structure that constrained to what extent revealing private information was beneficial to the group. The results show that both factors influenced the probabilities of private information revealing and the group payoffs in ways consistent with our predictions.
    W sekwencjach decyzyjnych gracze posługujący się regułą Bayesa, dążąc do maksymalizacji swojej wypłaty, często pomijają swoją prywatną informację i naśladują wybory wcześniejszych decydentów. W ten sposób powstają kaskady informacyjne, których konsekwencje to niska agregacja informacji i niższe przeciętne wypłaty w grupie. Zatem gracze stoją przed dylematem. Mogą ujawniać prywatną informację i zwiększyć tym samym przeciętne wypłaty w grupie, jednocześnie ponosząc pewne koszty lub przyłączać się do kaskad. Czyni to sekwencje decyzyjne podobnymi do dylematów społecznych, w których poświęcenie ze strony pewnych jednostek jest korzystne dla grupy jako całości. Jak dowiedziono, w dylematach takich możliwe jest zbliżenie się do optymalnych rozwiązań dzięki strategiom opartym na wzajemności. Podobne mechanizmy mogą mieć miejsce w sekwencjach decyzyjnych. Proponujemy test eksperymentalny tej hipotezy, w którym manipulujemy dwoma czynnikami. Zmienność sekwencji decyduje o możliwości pojawienia się wzajemności. Struktura wypłat ma wpływ na jej opłacalność. Pokazujemy, że oba te czynniki mają zgodny z przewidywaniem wpływ na częstość ujawniania prywatnej informacji oraz wypłaty w grupie.
