In this work the consolidation characteristics of the experimental and theoretical process of consolidation was studied. The analyses were carried out on the basis of the axial soil deformation progress and the pore pressure dissipation. The applied methodology gives possibility for the simultaneous comparison of the experimental and theoretical consolidation data and verification of the validity of calculated values of coefficient of consolidation, estimated using different methods. The aim of this research was to put some light on the quasi-filtration phase of consolidation. The results of consolidation studies on five high quality paste samples prepared from Krakowiec clays showed that the quasi-filtration occurs only in specific stages of the whole process. The analysis of changes in coefficient of consolidation depending on the degree of consolidation, enables the separation of the region of quasi-fixed values of c v, which corresponds to the quasi-filtration phase of consolidation.

This paper involves the results of oedometric tests carried out on four model samples with different content of expansive clay minerals, subjected to different stresses. The research aimed to determine the impact of consolidation pressure on the consolidation coefficient for cohesive soils with different mineral composition. Main factors influencing correlation between consolidation coefficient and consolidation pressure (Cv–p) trends turned out to be mechanisms controlling changes in soil volume (mechanical or physicochemical), which is different for expansive and non-expansive soils.

W pracy dokonano analizy rozkładu sił tarcia w zagęszczanym ośrodku sypkim. Zagęszczaniu poddawano mieszankę wapienno-piaskową. Dla niej określono rozkład nacisków pτ(z) na ścianki boczne formy wywołane siłami tarcia i ciśnieniem prasowania p(z). Do opisu ciśnienia prasowania zastosowano model tarcia Amontonsa-Coulomba. Zdefiniowano nowy współczynnik prasowania ψ = fξ. Określono wpływ sił tarcia na właściwości otrzymanego wyrobu. Zmniejszającym się naciskom bocznym odpowiadała większa nasiąkliwość, mniejsza gęstość i wytrzymałość wyrobu na ściskanie.
In the paper, the analysis of friction force distribution in the consolidated loose material was made. The sand-lime mix was subjected to compression. Distribution of pτ(z) pressures related to this mix (caused by friction forces and p(z) pressure) on side walls of the mould are described. The friction model Amontons-Coulomb was used to describe a compression pressure ψ = fξ. A new consolidation coefficient ψ = fξ was calculated. The influence of friction forces on the properties of the formed material is described. The decrease in side pressures was accompanied by increased absorptivity, decreased density, and a resistance of the material to compression.

The aim of the paper is to present concentration changes in the Polish banking sector, as well as an attempt of further trends indication. In the analysis, the following concentration measures were used: CR5 ratio and Herfindahl-Hirschman ratio. Before the evaluation of the market structure, in the paper there is a short synthesis of the most important aspects determining interpretation of the results and giving wider perception at which point of development the analysed banking market in Poland is. Conducted analysis points out that the Polish banking sector presents lower level of concentration than sectors in most countries of the EU15 and in other countries of the Central-Eastern Europe. In the following years further consolidation processes should be expected. The scale and pace of these changes will be also influenced by the view of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority.

The purpose of this article is to show how the parent company in the group can exploit a subsidiary in which it holds less than 100% of the share capital in order to create the consolidated financial result. Change in valuation or mutual transactions, excluded from consolidation, affects the height of the financial results of the subsidiary. Consolidated net profit will increase or decrease with the share of minorities. The article shows how the group could control the amount of consolidated net profit through transactions between related entities.

The historical knowledge of Poles, including Polish students, leaves much to be desired, even on a basic level. The insufficient or even the lack of consolidation is the most likely explanation of this phenomenon. The proposed solution to this problem is the SuperMemo and its similar algorithms, along with school history content specially edited for its needs. Basically an algorithm is a set of steps leading to the completion of a task. In the SuperMemo case, the task is to optimize learning, or rather to reduce forgetfulness, while reducing the time devoted to still well-remembered knowledge. Both the SuperMemo and its similar have been implemented in many applications. Quizlet or the software with the same name as the algorithm – SuperMemo, are the examples of such applications. They allow you to learn your own materials as well as those already edited, either by the producer or by other users. The previously edited school historical content for the SuperMemo algorithm and its similar cannot be considered satisfactory if important issues such as: compliance with the core curriculum, division into classes and topics, historical narrative coherence, relationships between pairs of questions and answers, or degrees of difficulty, are regarded. This article proposes a method that can improve this state of affairs. It is the result of theoretical and quasi-experimental work, corrected later on the basis of more serious editorial experience.

W pracy analizowano modele tarcia, które mogą mieć zastosowanie podczas badania procesu zagęszczania ośrodka sypkiego. Badania doświadczalne dotyczyły określenia siły wypychającej z formy zagęszczonych próbek z mieszanki wapienno-piaskowej oraz wytrzymałości na ściskanie. Na przykładzie serii próbek z drobnoziarnistymi dodatkami (barwnikami), stwierdzono korelację wytrzymałości wyrobu i sił tarcia między ośrodkiem sypkim i formą.
In the paper, friction models were analysed, which can be applied during investigation of the process of loose medium consolidation. Experimental testing determined the force pushing consolidated samples of a lime-sand mixture out of the mould, and it assessed crushing strength. The correlation of the material strength and friction forces between the loose medium and the mould was reported on the example of the sample series with fine-grained additions (pigment).

In the paper the process of deformation of an elastic porous skeleton at finite strains and the associated transport of fluid through the pores is considered. Undergoing large deformations these coupled interaction phenomena require skilful analysis. Numerical results for a three-layered subsoil resting on a rigid foundation under different permeability conditions in the uni-axial state of strains are given.
W pracy rozważono proces deformacji porowatego szkieletu sprężystego przy skończonych odkształceniach oraz towarzyszącego transportu cieczy. W warunkach dużych deformacji te sprzężone zjawiska interakcji wymagają subtelnej analizy. Podano numeryczne rezultaty dla trójwarstwowego podłoża leżącego na sztywnym podkładzie przy różnych warunkach przepuszczalności w jednoosiowym stanie odkształcenia.

W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań dotyczące nacisków bocznych podczas zagęszczania mieszanki wapienno-piaskowej na ścianki formy o przekroju kołowym. Do tego celu wykorzystano stanowisko wyposażone w czujniki tensometryczne na różnych wysokościach formy. Uzyskane wyniki badań pozwoliły na dobór modelu tarcia.
The paper presents the results of studies on pressures exerted by the compaction process of lime-sand mixture on the side-wall of circular forms. For this purpose, a stand was equipped with strain gauges placed at different form heights was used. The results will make it possible to choice an appropriate friction model.

In an artificial island construction project based on the large-scale marine reclamation land, the soil settlement is a key to affect the late safe operation of the whole field. To analyze the factors of the soil settlement in a marine reclamation project, the SEM method in the soil micro-structural analysis method is used to test and study six soil samples such as the representative silt, mucky silty clay, silty clay and clay in the area. The structural characteristics that affect the soil settlement are obtained by observing the SEM charts at different depths. By combining numerical calculation method of Terzaghi’s one-dimensional and Biot’s two-dimensional consolidation theory, the one-dimensional and two-dimensional creep models are established and the numerical calculation results of two consolidation theories are compared in order to predict the maximum settlement of the soils 100 years after completion. The analysis results indicate that the micro-structural characteristics are the essential factor to affect the settlement in this area. Based on numerical analysis of one-dimensional and two-dimensional settlement, the settlement law and trend obtained by two numerical analysis method is similar. The analysis of this paper can provide reference and guidance to the project related to the marine reclamation land.

The construction of embankments on organic soils is associated with necessary to improve subsoil conditions. Soft organic soils are often highly compressible and have low shear strengths, what causes large deformation, both vertically as well as horizontally, that may occur during and after the construction period [11]. The settlements usually appear quickly but can also continue for a very long time because of the secondary compression [6]. However, in Poland there are large areas with soft organic soils where diff erent kinds of embankments have to be constructed. In these cases, the prediction of soil behavior and the selection of a proper design method becomes an important and complex engineering task. In this paper the analysis of the soft subsoil deformation process under load is presented. The main factors that determine the consolidation of soft subsoil are described, as well as the proposition of changes in organic soils properties for better prediction of the construction’s settlements. Based on fi eld observations and laboratory test results, the characterization of organic soft soils and the results the calculation procedure are proposed.

Article analyses the processes of democratic consolidation in the former Yugoslav republics in the period since the volatile and violent breakup of socialist Yugoslavia three decades ago. Author is putting an emphasis on the notion of economic consolidation processes in all former Yugoslav republics and tests the thesis that economic consolidation is indeed the one prerequisite of democratic consolidation that suffered most direct effects of failed peaceful transformation in areas of former Yugoslavia that plunged into post-independence wars and conflicts. Author confirms that the secret to the democratic resilience is hidden in economic development – not only, as some theories claimed back in the 1960s (Lipset, 1959, p. 69–105), in various forms of undemocratic rule, but in a democracy built upon democratic institutions, respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms plus the rule of law.

In consolidation CL test programming various recommendations are encountered with regard to the selection of loading velocity. The criterion of consistency of CL test results with the traditional IL system is not fully justifiable. The behaviour of soil in conditions of constant load increase shows peculiar theoretical and experimental characteristics, different from IL tests. An optimummethod of proper CL test velocity is the analysis of loading velocity path in subsoil. Thismethod allows for taking into consideration the effect of permeability decrease during increase of pore water pressure. The basic factors, scaling loading velocities in field and in laboratory conditions, are the conditions of drainage of pore water.
