Employee competencies are a key resource in modern enterprises. It’s impossible to reach ambitious, organizational goals without talented, committed and entrepreneurial managers. In the article the competency profile of the manager of the future is presented. The profile emphasis is the need for a manager’s entrepreneurship. Basing on this profile, a tool for the assessment of the level of students’ and managers’ competencies was created. In the empirical part of the paper the results of research concerning students’ and managers’ competency level was presented. The proposed changes, which need to be implemented while competencies develop, were characterized.
Kompetencje pracowników są kluczowym zasobem w nowoczesnych przedsiębiorstwach. Osiągnięcie ambitnych celów organizacji nie jest możliwe bez zdolnych, zaangażowanych i przedsiębiorczych menedżerów. W artykule przedstawiano profil kompetencyjny menedżera przyszłości. Profil ten obejmuje kompetencje osoby przedsiębiorczej. Na podstawie tego modelu opracowano narzędzie, za pomocą którego zbadano poziom oceny kompetencji menedżerskich studentów oraz uczestników studiów podyplomowych. W części empirycznej artykułu przedstawiono wyniki badań dotyczących poziomów kompetencyjnych studentów i menedżerów. Opisano również propozycje zmian, które są niezbędne podczas doskonalenia kompetencji menedżerów przedsiębiorczych.

The following study presents partial research results regarding identification of specific leader and professional competencies of teachers with various teaching experience and students of teaching1 (N=318) in school conditions. The results are related to specific pedagogical activities and their per- formance with the emphasis on pupils’ discipline guidance at school. The main goal of the study was to find out whether there are any differences in respondents’ subjectively claimed difficulty level of performance in various pre-defined specific pedagogical activities linked to discipline in Slovak school conditions. A questionnaire of custom design was used as a research tool. Mathematical and statistical methods of one-dimensional and multi-dimensional inductive and descriptive statistics were used to elaborate the collected data. The results were compared with previous research findings in the sphere of professional competencies of teachers and students of teaching and with the results in National Report from International Research OECD TALIS (2008, 2013, 2018). The results suggest, that not only in Slovakia, but also in other countries, the character of professional problems of both future teachers and teachers in practice (despite the differences in preparatory education) is similar and has a certain international universal validity. It has been proved that the activities which were developed mostly theoretically (i.e. not at all) are the most difficult ones for the respondents to tackle. They identified that the most educational needs for their further education is needed in these activi- ties. Additionally, it was verified that there are statistically significant differences in the majority of pedagogical activities between the compared groups based on a statistically independent variable - length of teaching experience.

The article relates to the issue of training candidates for the teacher profession. By referencing to the core of the competencies required for the teacher’s work in a changing school, the weakest areas, which are the source of the fear and anxiety of students completing teacher education, were identified. The aim of the article is to describe – on the example of teaching English – the reductionistic character of the testing phenomenon. Global international tests (TOEFL and TOEIC) provide excellent arguments to critics of the phenomenon of “testology”, related to reducing the school’s identity and student identity to results of test. An excellent example of this phenomenon is Japanese society. In Japan, where English is considered the cultural and professional capital of individuals, the paradoxes (and absurdities) of testing find their best exemplification. At the same time, the fact that English is completely different from Japanese results in contextualizing language tests in different, sometimes unexpected, cultural aspects of life. In addition, the controversy surrounding the testing of the English language proficiency in Japan is related to the discussion about cultural imperialism. All these issues will be analysed in the article, not only in the Japanese context but also in relation to whole “testing culture”.

lot has been said and written about competencies in the recent years. They are an object of interest of many scientific disciplines: psychology, educational studies, anthropology, sociology, management science, but also of the labour market. The question of competencies sought after on the modern labour market frequently appears in the conversations among people who search for work, and among the employers. What competencies must a person have in order not to become unemployed? What are the competencies which the employers look for? What competencies may ensure good work? In order to get the answers to the above questions, the article presents a theoretical analysis of available literature.
W ostatnich latach dużo się mówi i pisze o kompetencjach. Są one przedmiotem zainteresowania wielu dyscyplin naukowych: psychologii, pedagogiki, antropologii, socjologii, nauk o zarządzaniu, ale również rynku pracy. Pytanie o kompetencje pożądane na współczesnym rynku pracy pojawia się często w rozmowach osób poszukujących pracy, jak i pracodawców. Jakie należy posiadać kompetencje, aby uchronić się przed bezrobociem? Na jakie kompetencje pracodawcy zgłaszają zapotrzebowanie? Jakie kompetencje mogą zapewnić dobrą pracę? Chcąc uzyskać odpowiedzi na powyższe pytania, w artykule dokonano analizy teoretycznej dostępnej literatury.

Competencies are a crucial factor of professional position and career development. The aim of this paper is the assessment of the competencies of people in late productive age using exploratory factor analysis. The second point is the critical review of the theory and practice on exploratory factor analysis. The empirical analysis is based on the Study of Human Capital data. The survey results confirm the necessity of the factor analysis in research in the area of human capital in the context of ageing. The constructed synthetic indicators allowed for a synthetic assessment of the competencies of Poles aged 50-59/64. The results of the conducted analysis confirm the large significance of all the 24 analysed competencies. The competencies of Poles aged 50-59/64 were decomposed into three groups: (1) soft competencies and physical fitness (2) computer skills and (3) availability and technical competencies.

Coaching jest dynamicznie rozwijającym się obszarem działalności. Wymaga on jednak większej liczby badań empirycznych, które mogłyby stanowić wsparcie i podstawę dla praktyki opartej na dowodach empirycznych. W prezentowanym badaniu została poddana weryfikacji struktura kluczowych kompetencji coacha. Przyjmując jako punkt wyjścia klasyfikację kompetencji opracowaną przez International Coach Federation, opracowane zostały twierdzenia opisujące cztery grupy kompetencji coacha. Eksploracyjna analiza czynnikowa na ocenach kompetencji coachów dokonanych przez 104 ich klientów potwierdziła istnienie czterech obszarów kluczowych kompetencji. Wyniki tego badania mogą służyć jako podstawa do stworzenia skali do pomiaru kompetencji coacha oraz opracowania szkoleń do nich adresowanych.
Coaching is a dynamically developing field of professional activity. However, it needs more empirical research providing support and an evidence–based practice. The current study subjected the structure of key coach competencies to verification. Taking the classification of competencies as developed by the International Coach Federation as the starting point, statements describing four groups of coach competencies were developed. Exploratory factor analysis on a sample of 104 coach competency assessments provided by their clients confirmed the existence of these four areas of key competencies. The results of this empirical study may serve as a basis for the development of a coach competency scale as well as for the development of coach training.

Celem artykułu jest diagnoza poziomu kompetencji przedstawicieli generacji NEET oraz opracowanie na tej podstawie rankingu kompetencji. Na potrzeby artykułu przeprowadzono studia literatury przedmiotu oraz dokonano analizy wyników badań empirycznych z wykorzystaniem pakietu IBM Predictive Solution 5. Na początku artykułu ukazano heterogeniczność generacji NEET. Następnie przedstawiono założenia metodyczne badań oraz przyjęte mieszane podejście do definiowania kompetencji, a także dokonano charakterystyki próby badawczej. Omówiono również wyniki badań sondażowych, zrealizowanych na próbie osób młodych należących do grupy NEET w województwie świętokrzyskim. Na zakończenie wskazano ograniczenia zrealizowanych badań oraz kierunki dalszych badań nad generacją NEET.
The aim of the article is to diagnose the level of competencies of NEET generation representatives and to develop a ranking of competencies on this basis. The article presents literature studies and analyzes the results of empirical research with the IBM Predictive Solution 5. The study shows the heterogeneity of the NEET population. Next part of the article, presents the methodological assumptions of the research and a mixed approach to defining competencies that is adopted for this research as well as the research sample statistics. Last part of the article shows the results of surveys carried out among young people belonging to the NEET group in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship and a discussion on that topic. The final part of the article discuss the limitations of completed tests and the directions of further research on NEET generation.

Background. The significance of communication in the work of physiotherapists is currently under discussion. On the one hand, it is considered as a factor in the quality of therapy in terms of the patient’s satisfaction. On the other hand, its significance is not recognized as an important factor affecting the treatment itself. Undoubtedly, it would be advisable to establish a consensus on this issue. An appropriate communication model tailored to the needs of each patient may prove useful in this respect. However, in order to achieve results, it is necessary to acquire professional knowledge on the principles of medical communication models and the ability to apply them in practice. The aim of the study was to assess the feasibility of incorporating therapeutic values contained in medical models of communication into therapy based on an analysis of empirical research (taking into account the following models: biomedical, holistic, humanistic, linear, interactive and transactional). Material and methods. A humanistic method of analysis according to which the collected material was first analyzed (the essential concepts associated with the title issue were selected, and the research issue appropriate for the chosen subject was established). In the second stage, the analysis was subjected to empirical study (internal and external analysis) and the findings were compared with the assumptions of the medical models of communication. Results. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that holistic, humanistic and interactive models can be a useful tool for a physiotherapist in working with a patient (if the specific type of communication is intentionally used for therapeutic purposes). The basic material to be analysed in terms of empirical study was compiled using the employee’s access to the resources of PubMed MEDLINE and the Library of Medicine at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. Conclusions. With the welfare of the patients in mind, the most appropriate models of communication implemented in the course of therapy are the humanistic, holistic and interactive models.

Тhe main goal of our theoretical research was to show how much the syllabus allow development of awareness about the diversities and development of life values in multiethnic and multicultural environments. Having in mind that in Macedonia there are different cultures, religions, traditions and languages, it is necessary to develop competencies to show respect for the diversities and to develop the multicultural awareness of the students at the earliest age. On the other hand, globalization, as a characteristic of the modern age, increasingly imposes the need to develop the intercultural awareness and competencies of the students as well. The interethnic (multicultural) as well as intercultural competencies are especially important from several aspects: firstly, as a result of the need to overcome stereotypes and prejudices still present in our society, and secondly, to develop values in children, and especially empathy in students.

This paper examines the international management of human resources. People have been one of the first challenges of any company wishing to work and develop an activity in other regions. The various movements of these human resources and competencies have implicated the phenomena of culture exchange worldwide. Intercultural conflicts, intercultural competencies, and intercultural management, are topics multinational companies did not face decades ago. Researchers worked on these differences and how humans can accept and cultivate the cultural differences in society. In recent decades, the global economic scene, and more particularly the European one, has increased international competition affecting both companies with an export profile and companies targeting the domestic market. International trade is a special case in general, it has the same principles as internal trade, but it suffers from certain changes related to phenomena caused by artificial and on the other hand natural barriers such as, distance, communication and interculturalism.

Theoretical background: The limited number of scientific studies on the specifics of the professional identity formation of paramedics makes it possible to conclude that this subject is insufficiently identified. In addition, the growing demand for medical professions, including paramedics, has led the authors to fill the research gap related to the recognition of the real professional identity of future representatives of the discussed profession. Accepting the fact that professional identity of paramedics is formed at different stages of the professional life of the person practicing the job, the authors took up the challenge of looking at the problem in question from the perspective of, inter alia, the identification of key determinants of the choice of this profession, the accompanying values and motivations, as well as the degree of fulfilment of expectations from the process of preparation for this profession offered in the framework of higher education.Purpose of the article: The article draws attention to a very important stage in the process of shaping the professional identity of paramedics, which is the higher-level of education. Its purpose is to recognize the opinions of students of the last year of emergency medical care about their values, motivations that determined the choice of this field of study and the competences acquired by them.  These elements determine the degree of satisfaction of students with the broadly understood process of study and, consequently, the forming of their professional identity. Research methods: The article refers to the results of own research conducted among students of the last year in the field of medical rescue service at the Medical University of Wroclaw. The study covered a four-year period and was done each time in the second quarter of 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. The authors of the article conducted a diagnostic survey using the authors' survey questionnaire.Main findings: Future paramedics, while undertaking higher studies in the said field, though internally convinced that their decisions were right, were guided by different values and motivations. Among the most important were the desire to pursue their passions, fulfill dreams, care for their own health, family and relationships with friends. Work as a value and the directly related need to help others, as well as the resulting economic benefits, were not considered the most important for future paramedics at that moment. The identified dissonance pertaining to the degree of fulfilment of expectations towards the process of education and the degree of benefits gained from that process demonstrate a limited level of satisfaction from preparation for the studied profession.Implications/Recommendations: The attempt made in the article to insight into the professional identity of future paramedics, and in particular the weaknesses and concerns identified in relation to the learned profession, certainly invite further research that can contribute to both, improving the current education system and taking action by further actors in the subsequent stages of shaping this identity. Taking into account the concerns identified by future paramedics and the enormity of tasks they are going to face, the professional predisposition as well as psychophysical characteristics of potential candidates should be taken into account at the stage of recruitment for the studies. In this context the teaching time should be increased for such subjects as psychology, patient communication and stress management. So far, the Polish education system of paramedics offers no planned career path, no vertical differentiation and promotion during professional work, which would certainly be a motivating factor. Continuous professional development should be an important element, which could enable them to develop their professional identity from learning "doing the work of a paramedic" to "being a paramedic".
