Opis:
Due to the continuous increase in prices of conventional fuels, the production of biofuels on an industrial, as well as small scale, nowadays is becoming more economically efficient. However, the usage of biofuels in its pure form is a problem when one have to supply them with modern injection systems. Due to the difference in parameters of biofuels in comparison with conventional fuels, the attempt to develop a mixture of optimal parameters for use in diesel engines, equipped with modern injection system, was made. Fuels derived from substrates which are produced independently of food production and which can energize CI engines are occupying now stronger market positions. Easier access to know-how and an uncomplicated production process result in technological development, not only in mass-scale plants but also in smaller devices which meet the needs of individual users or in which residues of other processes are neutralized or reused13 samples were tested, mixed of diesel, FAEE and ethyl alcohol. The mixtures were prepared and tested in The Department of Mechatronics in University of Warmia and Mazury for the most important parameters in the evaluation of possibility of usage to power modern compression ignition engines.

Opis:
This study investigates the correlation dependences between pollutant emission intensity and the engine operational states determining these properties, in various conditions, both in relation to measurements of engine operational states and their dynamic nature. The research was carried out in a variety of dynamic tests. Investigations into the correlations of processes occurring in combustion engines make it possible to assess the impact of one process on another and the relationship between the various processes. In general, it was found that similar dependencies occur for carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons, but were often substantially different for nitrogen oxides.

Opis:
An aim of work was analysing of combustion and ignition processes in chambers with small volume at the use of different sorts of fuels, fuel liquid and air mixtures and fuel gas ones. For experiments, the machine of single compression the cubic capacity of 400 mm3 approx and average piston speeds 4 m/s was used. Investigated physical processes allowed better recognizing processes occurring in miniature- real engines. For the feeding of the machine of single compression, homogeneous mixtures of hydrogen with air, propane with air and mixtures methyl and ethyl alcohol in the stoichiometric relation with air were used. Adequately earlier prepared mixtures warranted the repeatability conditions of the experiment. Experiments effected with the machine of single compression showed small increases of pressure from combustion process. The occurrence this can be explained with significant heat conduction to walls during comparatively long compressing and combustion. In carried research with the machine of single compression with very large ratio surface combustion chamber to its volume, one obtained comparatively low value of the maximum compression pressure. The researches showed that on processes of compression, combustion and ignition, the greater influence had geometry of combustion chamber, average piston speed than sorts applied fuels.

Opis:
The objective of research was to determine total efficiency and performance of turbocharged small displacement SI engine without modifying engine control unit. The engine used during the investigation was Toyota yaris 1296 cm3 displacement SI engine with modified intake manifold. There was variable and fixed geometry turbocharger mounted in the exhaust system. Inlet air pressure was controlled by introducing a waste gate valve. Specific values of maximum boost pressure were obtained thanks to implementation of different valve springs. The outcome of investigation shows that there is a possibility of introducing turbocharger without modification of intake system and engine's control unit. Implementation of turbocharger with variable turbine geometry and waste gate valve controlling maximum boost pressure permits significant improvement in torque characteristic without exceeding permissible harmful exhaust gases emissions. Change of waste gate valve spring's characteristic allowed reaching higher torque and making its value constant in wide range of engine's rotational speed. Change of waste gate characteristic permitted to achieve advantageous torque characteristic, maximum torque rise and its constant value in wide range of engine's speed.

Opis:
This article describes the method of controlling an electric magnetic linear actuator that moves an inlet valve of an internal combustion engine. Thanks to the use of the electric control of the inlet valve of the internal combustion engine, it was possible to implement a variable effective compression ratio of the operating power unit, adapting it to the current needs and engine load. In this design, valvetrain was modified by introducing an autonomous intake valve operation with the use of a specially designed electromagnetic actuator. The introduction of this system necessitated an additional modification of the intake camshaft. The control was carried out with the use of a real-time controller with a built-in FPGA unit. The proposed design of a system with an electromagnetic actuator will allow obtaining an additional degree of freedom in the control unit. Particular attention should be paid to registered values or air pressure in the intake stroke for a closed or partially opened throttle, which generates significant pumping losses. The use of an electromagnetic actuator in the intake can help reduce said losses.

Opis:
In this paper are presented the basic problems accompanying the flow of charge through compression-ignition engine inlet system. The flow of medium through inlet pipe to cylinder was assumed to be one-dimensional and described with mass, momentum and angular momentum conservation eąuations and energy consLrvation law. On the other hand, a zero-dimensional model described by mass-energy conservation equations was used to determine parameters of the medium in total cylinder volume. Simulations were carried out with the use of numerical programme in which McCormack's explicit method was applied to solve differential equations describing the flow of charge in inlet system. The McCormack explicit technique was used due to the fact that an earlier attempt at solving a numerical problem with the method of lines had not yielded desired effects in view of high instability. Simulation aimed at determining the mass of air remaining in engine cylinder after inlet valve closure. Simulation results are presented in the form of in-cylinder air mass versus crank angle characteristics for different inlet pipe diameters. The study results are also presented in the form of a summary table and a summary diagram, the latter enabling a comparison of results for different inlet pipe diameters.
