Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie rozwiązań typu smart, czyli innowacyjnych wdrożeń w zakresie technologii i organizacji, dostarczanych do naszego codziennego życia za pośrednictwem logistyki, w szczególności logistyki miejskiej. W artykule ukazano wpływ tych rozwiązań na zrównoważony rozwój. Mimo że innowacyjność i  zrównoważony rozwój to pojęcia różne, ich znaczenie dla gospodarki, nauki, postępu jest ogromne. Staja sie one coraz lepiej zdefiniowane i opisane w literaturze. Posiadają pozytywne konotacje z wieloma dziedzinami nauki i gospodarki. Postrzegane są również jako środki rozwiązywania problemów i stanów kryzysowych.
The aim of the paper is to present some smart solutions which could be recognised as innovative solutions in both areas: technology and organisation. The above mentioned solution could be implemented by logistics, especially city logistics. However, there are two different topics with different meanings: sustainable development and the innovations – the concept of sustainability and innovation have important characteristic in common. Both terms represent concepts that are often poorly defined but they have positive connotations in most cases. The innovations and sustainable development are used as actual or supposed problem solvers in crises where a possible, immediate course of action is not discernible.

Nowadays sharing economy is strongly expanding in many areas of life. It plays a significant role in the city structure in the context of city logistics, tools like carsharing, bikesharing or scootersharing. The development of technology is conductive to the growth of this idea. The aim of the article is to present the carsharing system and its significance in the area of city logistics in the context of sharing economy on the example of Polish cities. An evaluation of this system has been carried out with regard to the positive and negative effects of development. In addition, a detailed description was made based on the carsharing system in Poland (in comparison with the solutions used across the world).
Współcześnie ekonomia współdzielenia prężnie rozwija się w wielu dziedzinach życia. Duże znaczenie odgrywa w strukturze miasta w zakresie rozwiązań jego logistyki, między innymi carsharing, bi- keshiring czy scootersharing. Rozwój technologii sprzyja wzrostowi tej idei. Celem artykułu jest przedstawie- nie systemu carsharing oraz jego znaczenia w obszarze logistyki miasta w kontekście ekonomii współdzielenia na przykładzie polskich miast. Przeprowadzono ocenę niniejszego systemu w odniesieniu do pozytywnych, jak i negatywnych skutków rozwoju. Ponadto dokonano dokładnej charakterystyki na podstawie systemu carsharing w Polsce.

Considerations include the issue of the impact of logistics solutions for the development of urban regions. Most attention will be devoted to infrastructure solutions, which both serve the cities and their inhabitants, as the main beneficiaries, on the other hand interact to stimulate the development of regions. The article uses both theoretical and practical points to the possibility of action and implement the concept.

The dynamic development of motoring observed in the last two decades contributes to many negative phenomena occurring in road transport Distinguished among these negative phenomena are high share of car traffic, road accidents, emission of toxic exhaust fumes into the atmosphere, etc. For these reasons, many initiatives are taken in the field of road transport management and city logistics. Traffic problems are solved from many aspects, such as the development of transport infrastructure, changing of urban transport organisation, parking organisation in city centre and Park & Ride system, as well as the progress of alternative means of transport. The problem of traffic congestion in urban areas is still a current topic. This article presents the formation of congestion in urban areas in chosen big cities in Poland. The first part of the article deals with the theoretical issues of traffic flow and congestion formation in the city road networks. The second part of the article outlines the situation of transport congestion with these cities based on the worldwide TomTom Traffic Index within the period of 2008-2016. This study is a brief analysis of the trends relating to the transport congestion based on the TomTom Traffic Index in Polish cities, which will allow future researchers a wider study of this problem. The authors suggest some solutions to reduce the level of transport congestion and harmful emissions from means of transport.

W dzisiejszych czasach dostęp do precyzyjnej oraz czytelnej informacji jest jednym z faktorów znacząco wpływających na poprawę jakości komunikacji miejskiej. W artykule zaprezentowano przegląd dotyczący systemów informacji pasażerskiej w Warszawie i Moskwie oraz wyniki badań ankietowych. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań można stwierdzić, że informacja pasażerska stanowi istotny element dla użytkowników systemów komunikacji publicznej i należy rozwijać dostęp do niej.
Nowadays, access to accurate and clear information is one of the factors significantly affecting the improvement of the quality of public transport. The article presents an overview of the passenger information systems in Warsaw and Moscow, and the results of the survey. Based on the survey it can be said that passenger information is an important element for users of public transport systems should be developed and access to it.

W artykule podjęto problematykę branży e-commerce oraz jej wpływu na miejskie systemy dostaw. W pierwszej części przedstawiono rozwój handlu internetowego oraz jego charakterystykę. Wskazano również, jak specyfika branży e-commerce oraz tendencje władz miast, mające na celu ograniczenie ruchu samochodów ciężarowych na terenach zurbanizowanych, wpływają na konieczność dokonywania zmian w tradycyjnych łańcuchach dostaw towarów. W kolejnej części zdefiniowano i scharakteryzowano miejskie centra dystrybucji. Zaproponowano również model dostaw towarów w miastach dla branży e-commerce uwzględniający tego typu obiekty logistyczne w łańcuchach dostaw. Całość zakończono zwięzłym podsumowaniem.
The article raises the issues of the e-commerce industry and impact of online shopping on urban supply systems. The first part presents the development and characteristics of e-commerce. In this part also points out how the specificity of the e-commerce industry and tendencies of city authorities aimed at limiting the traffic of trucks in urban areas, affect the need to change the traditional supply chains. In the next part, urban logistic center was defined and characterized. A model of urban deliveries for the e-commerce industry was proposed, taking into account urban logistics centers in the supply chain. The whole was completed concise summary.

In this paper, the authors present the Intelligent Transport Systems as an innovative solution very often facilitates and enhances quality of life of the average person. The origin of the authors determines also need to be addressed in the paper issue of the implementation of ITS in the Lodz region. The aim of the study is primarily to draw attention to the actual functionality of ITS and the natural need for their implementa tion in places where there is movement of road transport vehicles.

Purpose: The main aim of the article is identification of passengers' preferences and satisfaction with public transport services as the basis for evaluating the quality of urban public transport services and it’s improvement. Design/methodology/approach: The research included a satisfaction survey of urban passenger transport customers in the city of Żory, where free public transport operates. The literature review provided an opportunity to identify the factors to be assessed in the survey. Findings: The survey has shown that respondents indicate the frequency of buses, punctuality, the technical condition of the means of transport, the number of seats available on the bus during peak hours and the efficiency of air conditioning and heating as the most important improvements in the quality in organization and realization of public passenger transport. These results are the basis for action by the transport provider. Research limitations/implications: The survey concerns only the city of Żory public passengers transport, while the proposed research approach can be used in research for other cities. Practical implications: Adaptation of the transport offer to the passengers requirements in order to encourage them to use public transport more often. This solution will increase the competitiveness of this form of transport in relation to individual transport modes. Social implications: The quality of passenger transport services in the city plays a key role in shaping the quality of inhabitants life. The competitiveness of this form of transport also influences the environmental aspect – among others, the reduction of low emissions. Nevertheless, in order to ensure the use of this form of transport, it is necessary to continuously improve the offer and quality of service provision. Originality/value: The presented research is important in the activities of urban passenger transport operators as it provides information on the importance of factors influencing the growth of interest in this type of services, and therefore is important in building a customer service strategy.

Logistyka miejska to narzędzie do skutecznego rozwiązywania różnych problemów, z zakresu funkcjonowania aglomeracji miejskie. Nasilające się mankamenty przewozowe, organizacyjne i społeczne potwierdzają potrzebę jej ciągłego rozwoju. Powstające w tym zakresie nowe pomysły powinny opierać się na nowatorskich technologiach, które odpowiednio usprawnią zarządzanie systemem logistyki miasta, przy jednoczesnym zapewnieniu zrównoważonego rozwoju transportu. Celem artykułu jest analiza logistyki miejskiej, jako elementu usprawniającego zarządzanie systemem logistycznym miasta. Problem badawczy został sformułowany w postaci pytania: Jakie rozwiązania (koncepcje działań), mogą usprawnić działanie systemu logistycznego miasta? W celu wyjaśnienia tego problemu badawczego, podjęto się analizy dostępnej literatury przedmiotu.
City logistics is a tool to effectively solve various problems related to the functioning of urban agglomerations. Increasing transport, organizational and social problems confirm the need for continuous development of city logistics. New ideas arising in this respect should be based on innovative technologies that will properly improve the management of the city logistics system, while ensuring sustainable development of transport. The aim of the article is to analyze city logistics as an element improving the management of city logistics system. The research problem was formulated in the form of a question: What solutions (concepts of actions) can improve the operation of the city logistics system? In order to explain this research problem, the analysis of available publications was undertaken.

This paper describes the influence of road transport on urbanization and the transport of oversized loads. There is an increasing interest in oversized transport and urban development. In this developmental context, it is necessary to transport heavy construction machinery, infrastructure elements, pipes for gas pipelines and waterworks, or even rails to create roads for rail transport. For this purpose, the transport of loads exceeding standard parameters (16.50 m in length, 2.55 m in width, 4.00 m in height and 40 Mg in mass) is used. Oversized traffic has many obstacles on the roads, such as low bridges and viaducts, narrow roads, poor technical condition of roads, road works and low-permeability roundabouts.

Żegluga śródlądowa może stanowić alternatywę dla transportu samochodowego w obsłudze potrzeb transportowych miast. Przemawia za tym w szczególności lokalizacja miast nad rzekami, ale także narastające problemy z zatłoczeniem w miastach, niskie bezpieczeństwo transportu samochodowego oraz zamykanie centrów miast dla ruchu drogowego. Miasta europejskie stojące przez wyzwaniem postępującej urbanizacji, wzrastającego zapotrzebowania na transport towarów oraz zwiększenia natężenia ruchu drogowego mogą korzystać z potencjału transportu wodnego śródlądowego do zaopatrzenia handlu, wywozu odpadów, produkcji i dystrybucji. W tym aspekcie umacnia się rola portów śródlądowych w tworzeniu zielonej logistyki miejskiej. Jak pokazują omówione przykłady dobrych praktyk, rozwojowi żeglugi śródlądowej na obszarach miejskich, oprócz warunków infrastrukturalnych, sprzyjają ograniczenia administracyjne dotyczące transportu samochodowego, w tym zielone strefy w centrach miast, ograniczenie liczby miejsc rozładunku w miastach, czasu poruszania się pojazdów w centrach miast oraz wymagania dotyczące norm emisji spalin przez środki transportu samochodowego.
Inland waterway transport can provide an alternative to road transport in the european cities. Waterways tend to run through the town centers predisposes them for transport. This transport mode can play an important role during rush hour traffic. Justified by the following arguments: – the location of cities along the rivers; – the possibility of adapting the fleet to local navigation conditions; – increasing problems with parking in city centers; – the relatively high cost of parking; – low road transport safety; – closing town centers to traffic. European cities facing the challenge of urbanization, increasing demand for transport of goods and an increase in traffic can make use of the potential of inland waterways to supply trade, waste disposal, production and distribution. In this aspect strengthening the role of inland ports in developing green logistics.

W dobie niezwykle szybkiego rozwoju przemysłu IT oraz technologii mobilnych, jak również znacznej urbanizacji miast oraz powiększającej się z roku na rok liczbie samochodów osobowych, a co za tym idzie coraz większej kongestii transportowej, nadzwyczajnego znaczenia nabiera tworzenie oraz wdrażanie aplikacji mobilnych i webowych usprawniających proces przemieszczania się w miastach. Rosnące potrzeby miast oraz zwiększająca się ich powierzchnia oraz brak możliwości wystarczającego rozwoju infrastruktury drogowej poprzez zagospodarowanie przestrzenne miast nie pozwala na uzyskanie odpowiedniej przepustowości oraz idącego za nią komfortu komunikacyjnego. Obszarami sprawnego przepływu na terenach miast zajmuje się logistyka miejska, a w szczególności wdrażanie koncepcji zrównoważonego rozwoju transportu oraz koncepcji inteligentnych miast – SmartCity. Jednym z najważniejszych celów, jakie powinny przyświecać zarządzającym obszarami miejskimi, jest zmienianie tendencji mieszkańców do wyboru środka transportu – z transportu indywidualnego samochodem osobowym na transport zbiorowy (szczególnie komunikację publiczną), co prowadzi do zmniejszenia natężenia miejskiej kongestii. Aplikacje mobilne mogą mieć istotny wpływ na zmianę trendu podróżowania i rezygnację z samochodu osobowego przez mieszkańców miast. Na rynku istnieje wiele bezpłatnych aplikacji, które w znaczący sposób ułatwiają poruszanie się komunikacją zbiorową. Równie ważne są aplikacje, które pomagają przemieszczać się osobom podróżującym samochodem osobowym, prowadząc najszybszą trasą z uwzględnieniem natężenia ruchu na danych odcinkach oraz zagrożenia i incydentów drogowych. Dzięki korzystaniu z tego typu aplikacji możliwe jest odpowiednie rozładowanie ruchu. Autorzy publikacji przedstawiają w niej dane aplikacje oraz wyniki autorskich badań dotyczących stopnia wykorzystania aplikacji mobilnych do przemieszczania się po mieście.
In the age of rapid development of the IT industries and mobile technology, as well as significant urbanization of cities and a growing number of cars per capita, traffic congestion is rapidly increasing. Nowadays, creating and deploying mobile and web applications that improve the mobility in cities are very important. Areas of efficient urban traffic are dealt with urban logistics, and in the particular implementation of the concept of Sustainable Urban Transport Project and the concept of intelligent cities - SmartCity. One of the most important objectives for urban management is to change behaviors of the population in terms of their transportation choices - from the transport of an individual car to public transport, which reduces the intensity of urban congestion and greatly improve this process. The aim of this article is to review the knowledge of the above mentioned concepts and to review the most popular mobility applications. Authors using the survey questionnaire examined the level of use of particular mobile applications considering their usefulness and frequency of use by respondents.

Globalization and urbanization can lead to aggravation of economic, social, and environmental issues, which creates significant challenges for city management and especially city logistics. These challenges require an integrated approach to research and optimization and the introduction of innovative solutions, technological and organizational direction. The implementation of investment projects in cities should be in full accordance with the selected concept of city logistics, subordinate to objectives of sustainable development. Successful urban logistics is possible only with the use of innovative logistics technology based on supply chain concepts, efficient customer service, multimodal mobility and other effective solutions, however, active administrative steps on the implementation of city logistics strategy is needed. Main objectives of city logistics research are following: reduce congestion, increase urban mobility; reduce air pollution and noise; improve living conditions of city inhabitants.
Globalizacja i urbanizacji może prowadzić do pogłębienia się problemów gospodarczych, społecznych i środowiskowych, co stwarza poważne wyzwania dla zarządzania miastem, a zwłaszcza logistyki miejskiej. Wyzwania te wymagają zintegrowanego podejścia do badań i optymalizacji oraz wprowadzenie innowacyjnych rozwiązań technologicznych i organizacyjnych. Realizacja projektów inwestycyjnych w miastach powinna być w pełni zgodna z wybraną koncepcją logistyki miejskiej, podporządkowanej celom zrównoważonego rozwoju. Udana logistyka miejska jest możliwa tylko przy zastosowaniu innowacyjnej technologii opartej na koncepcji logistyki w łańcuchu dostaw, sprawnej obsługi klientów, mobilności multimedialnej i innych skutecznych rozwiązań, jednak potrzebne jest aktywne działania administracyjne dotyczące realizacji strategii logistyki miejskiej. Główne cele badań logistyki miejskiej są następujące: zmniejszenie zatłoczenia, zwiększenie mobilności miejskiej; zmniejszenie zanieczyszczenia powietrza i hałasu; poprawa warunków życia mieszkańców miasta.
