    The purpose of this paper is not to provide an overall picture of care ethics, but, rather, to reflect upon the concept of care, which has gained significance in particular scientific contexts. Undoubtedly, the importance of the subject of care represents a challenge on the level of fundamental philosophical positions and a diversified look into the occurring forms of the psychological and social suffering, dependency, and vulnerability. I will shed light on tenets that are considered central to the care ethics and that have led to the setting up of the relationship between care and democracy. By introducing the basic aspects of Carol Gilligan’s and Joan Tronto’s theories, I will emphasize their vocation to be politically relevant. A discussion on the relationship between care and justice on the one hand, and needs and rights on the other, will follow. Can hearing voices of care make democracy more just? How can care ethics provide a concrete support for democracy? On the political level, care ethics builds on the assumptions of the necessary relatedness and equality between individuals who are decisive in the light of the welfare state perspective. Upon closer examination, one may see that the setting up of these relationships is not new to the liberal perspective. Liberalism is historically rooted in the fundamental interconnection between freedom and equality. Virtues such as care and meekness can be formulated in the language of politics, but they still remain unpolitical. On the one hand, engaging in a critical reflection upon such virtues might be an indispensable measuring instrument for distinguishing a good democracy from a bad one. On the other hand, care ethics does not prove to be a real alternative to the ethics of justice. In this regard, care ethics seems to show its feet of clay.

    Celem artykułu jest refleksja nad troską jako kategorią teoretyczną w pedagogice, etycznym wymiarem pracy emocjonalnej wpisanej w relacje opieki i spoiwem więzi społecznych. Autorki dokonują przeglądu idei troski w teoriach uniwersalistycznej etyki zasad, w etologii i psychologii zwierząt, kontekstach genderowych, posthumanistycznych i nieantropocentrycznych. Przegląd wybranych koncepcji troski przekonuje o dużej złożoności tego pojęcia i jego zróżnicowanych, ambiwalentnych, znaczeniach. Troska związana jest z refleksją o świecie, kulturze i społeczeństwie – towarzyszy refleksji nad słabością i kruchością, wpisaną w fakt istnienia nie tylko tego co ludzkie.
    The aim of the article is to reflect on care as a theoretical category in pedagogy, the ethical dimension of emotional work inscribed in care relations and the binder of social bonds. The authors review the idea of care in the theories of universalist ethics of principles, in ethology and animal psychology, in gender, post-humanist and non-anthropocentric contexts. The overview of selected concepts of care proves the high complexity of this concept and its diverse, ambivalent meanings. Care is related to reflection on the world, culture, and society - it accompanies reflection on weakness and fragility, inherent in the existence of not only what is human.

    Teachers are among many educational entities. In this profession, it is worth paying special attention to its ethical dimension. This is dictated primarily by the specific nature of the educational activity of the representatives of this socio-professional category which includes, among others, interpersonal relationships with pupils and students. They are manifested in various educational situations, oft en complex and complicated, requiring the teacher to represent a high ethical level, consistent with the arrangements made in the field of professional ethics. This, in turn, taking into account its shape, may be perceived differently. The aim of this article is to attempt to present the ethics of the teaching profession from the point of view of the ethics of care. Understanding the ethics of the teaching profession as an ethics of care is rarely presented in the literature on the subject. Most often, teaching ethics is associated with a set of specific ethical conditions or moral virtues, somewhat reducing the importance of the category of care in this ethics. Hence, the main research problem revolves around the questions: What are the characteristics of the ethical dimension of a teacher’s professional work and what does care and ethics of care mean in the teaching profession? The adopted research method was the analysis of the literature on the subject and of articles published in scientific journals, concerning the research issues being undertaken. The presented text discusses the ethical dimension of a teacher’s professional work from a normative perspective, in particular from the point of view of the ethics of duty and the ethics of virtue, and then the category of care and the ethics of care with its relation to the teacher’s professional activity. The analysis of the literature on the subject leads to the belief that in contemporary scientific explorations consistent with ethical and pedeutological thought, greater emphasis should be placed on the ethics of care in the teaching profession, as well as the possibility of contamination of the ethics of care and the ethics of justice. All this can serve to optimally practice the teaching profession in ethical terms.
    Wśród wielu podmiotów edukacji wymienia się nauczyciela. W zawodzie uprawianym przez niego warto zwrócić szczególną uwagę na wymiar etyczny. Podyktowane jest to przede wszystkim specyficznym charakterem aktywności edukacyjnej przedstawicieli tej kategorii społeczno-zawodowej, w którą wpisane są między innymi relacje interpersonalne z uczniami-wychowankami. Manifestują się one w różnorodnych sytuacjach edukacyjnych, niejednokrotnie złożonych i skomplikowanych, wymagających od nauczyciela reprezentowania wysokiego poziomu etycznego, zgodnego z ustaleniami poczynionymi na gruncie etyki zawodowej. Ta z kolei, biorąc pod uwagę jej kształt, może być różnie postrzegana. Celem podejmowanych w niniejszym artykule rozważań jest próba ukazania etyki zawodu nauczyciela z punktu widzenia etyki troski. Ujmowanie etyki zawodu nauczyciela jako etyki troski rzadko eksponowane jest na gruncie literatury przedmiotu. Najczęściej etykę nauczycielską kojarzy się z zespołem określonych obwarowań etycznych bądź cnót moralnych, umniejszając nieco rangi kategorii troski w tej etyce. Stąd też główny problem badawczy oscyluje wokół pytań: Czym charakteryzuje się wymiar etyczny pracy zawodowej nauczyciela oraz co oznacza troska i etyka troski w zawodzie nauczyciela. Jako metodę badawczą przyjęto analizę literatury przedmiotu zarówno zwartą, jak również artykułów zamieszczonych w czasopismach naukowych, dotyczącą podejmowanej problematyki badawczej. W przedstawionym tekście kolejno zaprezentowano: wymiar etyczny pracy zawodowej nauczyciela z perspektywy normatywnej, w szczególności z punktu widzenia etyki powinności i etyki cnoty, a następnie kategorię troski oraz etykę troski wraz z odniesieniem jej do aktywności zawodowej nauczyciela. Przeprowadzona analiza literatury przedmiotu skłania do przekonania, że we współczesnych eksploracjach naukowych wpisujących się w myśl etyczno-pedeutologiczną należy położyć większy nacisk na etykę troski w zawodzie nauczyciela, a także ewentualną możliwość kontaminacji etyki troski i etyki sprawiedliwości. Wszystko to służyć może optymalnemu uprawianiu zawodu nauczyciela pod względem etycznym.

    In this article, an analysis was made of what’s new in the debate on the condition of the contemporary political community brought up by the discussion about the relationship between care and justice. The author introduces the category of care in philosophy and its understanding and with particular emphasis on the views of Virginia Held. He analyzes the importance of a relationship of care as the foundation for the proper functioning of the socio-political community and criticism of the idea of a social contract undertaken by representatives of the ethics of care. Critically, he presents the consequences of the assumptions of the civic community accepted by Held.

    The article Victim and Guardian: A Short Ethical Reconnaissance is a proposal for fundamental rethinking of the phenomenon of care and support in the context of the experience of evil. The author analyses the phenomenon of transitivity of evil, and describes suffering of a guardian as an extension of the harm done to the victim. He notices that the expectation of care occurring in a difficult situation is one of the fundamental claims in social life, and not receiving it is one of the most painful moral experiences. Finally, the author emphasizes the moral value of guardian’s participation in the defeat of the victim. He says that we do not need the notion of triumph over evil to recognize this value.

    Przez dziesięciolecia teorie ekonomiczne zmieniały się pod wpływem wydarzeń historycznych oraz turbulencji gospodarczych, za każdym razem miały one jednak konkretne przełożenie na życie społeczeństw. Dziś, gdy teorie neoliberalne przestają cieszyć się uznaniem, rozwarstwienie pomiędzy najbogatszymi i najuboższymi postępuje prawie geometrycznie, a rozwój technologii sprawia, że drastycznie zmieniają się warunki pracy, potrzebne są nowe wizje gospodarki przyszłości, w której każdy mógłby znaleźć swoje miejsce i godnie żyć. Moja propozycja wiąże się z oparciem gospodarki na etyce troski, który to argument prezentuję w niniejszym artykule. W jego wstępie przyglądam się zachodzącym zmianom gospodarczym. Następnie przybliżam znaczenie etyki troski, a także opieki niezbędnej do rozwoju i reprodukowania się społeczeństw jako głównych ram przyjętych w dalszych rozważaniach nad gwarancją zatrudnienia oraz bezwarunkowym dochodem podstawowym, którym poświęcone są kolejne części artykułu. Analizy tych teorii, przeprowadzone z feministycznego punktu widzenia, wzbogacone zostaną także o propozycje dodatkowych rozwiązań, które wychodzą poza obowiązujący dziś paradygmat wzrostu.
    For decades, economic theories have been changing due to historical events and economic turbulences, yet each time they have had an actual impact on the lives of societies. Today, when neo-liberal theories are no longer appreciated, the divide between the richest and the poorest members of society is growing almost exponentially, and technological development drastically changes working conditions, new visions of a future economy are needed – ones in which everyone can find their place and live a life worth living. My suggestion is that this economy should be based on the ethics of care – a line of argument presented in this article. It opens with an outline of the ongoing economic changes. There then follows an explanation of the importance of ethics of care, as well as of the care necessary for the development and reproduction of societies, as the main framework for further consideration of job guarantee and unconditional basic income, to which the subsequent sections of the article are devoted. The analysis of these theories from a feminist perspective will also be enriched with proposals for additional solutions that go beyond the current paradigm of growth.

    The author of the article, Agata Siwiak, proposes the implementation of a professional support system for artists working with processes of engaging art, with particular emphasis on practices in areas of social crises.     Wstęp. Uporczywa terapia, czyli długotrwałe i intensywne leczenie, nieprzynoszące poprawy stanu pacjenta, stanowi wyzwanie nie tylko dla pacjentów, ale również dla personelu medycznego, w szczególności dla pielęgniarek. Wykonywanie codziennych obowiązków w warunkach dużej presji czasowej, ciągłego stresu oraz konieczności podejmowania trudnych decyzji związanych z udziałem w procesie terapeutycznym pacjentów, może prowadzić do pojawienia się dylematów etycznych. W pracy pielęgniarskiej etyka odgrywa kluczową rolę, gdyż stanowi ona fundament norm postępowania i decyzji podejmowanych przez pracowników służby zdrowia. Cel. Celem badań było poznanie opinii pielęgniarek na temat terapii daremnej Materiały i metody. Badaniem objęto grupę 100 pielęgniarek/rzy aktywnych zawodowo pracujących w oddziale Intensywnej Terapii i Opieki Paliatywnej w Szpitalu w Inowrocławiu. Wiek respondentów mieścił się 25 do 60 r.ż. Metodą wykorzystaną w powyższej pracy był sondaż diagnostyczny. Narzędziem badawczym był kwestionariusz konstrukcji własnej składający się z 27 pytań zamkniętych. Na przeprowadzenie badań uzyskano zgodę Komisji Bioetycznej Państwowej Uczelni Zawodowej we Włocławku, uchwał numer 32/22 Wyniki. Respondenci potwierdzili występowanie zjawiska prowadzenia uporczywej terapii stosowanej wobec pacjentów przewlekle chorych oraz z chorobą nowotworową. 93% ankietowanych poprawnie definiuje pojęcie uporczywej terapii. Uzyskane wyniki wskazują, że 70% ankietowanych uznaje ograniczenie lub zaprzestanie terapii daremnej za etyczne oraz ¾ badanych wskazuje, że terapia daremna ma negatywny wpływ zarówno na pacjenta, jak i jego bliskich. Wnioski. Współczesne osiągnięcia nauk medycznych i technicznych pozwalają na długotrwałe, sztuczne podtrzymywanie życia tylko nie zawsze jest to zgodne z zasadami etyki. Pielęgniarki podczas pracy zawodowej wielokrotnie napotykają sytuacje przekroczenia granicy przynoszącej pozytywny efekt terapeutyczny i rozpoczęcia uporczywej terapii.
    Introduction. Persistent therapy, i.e., long-term, and intensive treatment, which does not bring improvement of the patient's condition, is a challenge not only for patients, but also for medical staff, especially for nurses. Performing daily duties under high time pressure, constant stress and the need to make difficult decisions related to the participation of patients in the therapeutic process may lead to ethical dilemmas. Ethics plays a key role in nursing work, as it is the foundation of standards of conduct and decisions made by health professionals. The aim. The aim of the study was to find out the opinions of nurses about futile therapy. Materials and methods. The study covered a group of 100 professionally active nurses working in the Intensive Care and Palliative Care ward at Hospital in Inowroclaw. The age of the respondents ranged from 25 to 60 years old. The method used in the above study was a diagnostic survey. The research tool was a self-constructed questionnaire consisting of 27 closed questions. The study was approved by the Bioethics Committee of the State Vocational University in Włocławek, Resolution No. 32/22 Results. Respondents confirmed the occurrence of persistent therapy applied to chronically ill patients and patients with cancer. 93% of respondents correctly define the concept of persistent therapy. The obtained results indicate that 70% of the respondents consider limiting or discontinuing futile therapy as ethical, and ¾ of the respondents indicate that futile therapy has a negative impact on both the patient and his relatives. Conclusions. Modern achievements of medical and technical sciences allow for long-term, artificial life support, but it is not always compliant with the principles of ethics. During their professional work, nurses often encounter situations of crossing the border that brings a positive therapeutic effect and starting persistent therapy.

    The article presents educational, care and aid activities carried out for children in Rwanda. As a result of the civil war in this country in 1994, several hundred thousand children were orphaned. Real emergency situation of children affected by the phenomenon of orphanhood has launched a wide intervention and compensation activities of diverse entities and milieus. Various assistance programs were created. “Adoption of the Heart”, a movement for children in Africa in which the Society of Pallotines is involved is an example of such initiatives. The author would like to point out that proper care and educational process should be carried out in such a way as not to interfere with the natural development of children’s independence, regardless of their age.
    Artykuł przedstawia działalność opiekuńczo-wychowawczą i pomocową realizowaną na rzecz dzieci w Rwandzie. W wyniku wojny domowej w tym kraju w 1994 r. osieroconych zostało kilkaset tysięcy dzieci. Sytuacja rzeczywistego zagrożenia dzieci dotkniętych zjawiskiem sieroctwa uruchomiła szeroką działalność interwencyjną i kompensacyjną różnych środowisk i podmiotów. Powstawały różne programy pomocowe. Jedną z takich inicjatyw jest ruch na rzecz dzieci w Afryce o nazwie „Adopcja Serca”, w którą zaangażowało się Zgromadzenie Pallotynów. Autor pragnie ukazać, że prawidłowy proces opiekuńczo-wychowawczy powinien być realizowany w taki sposób, aby nie zakłócić naturalnego rozwoju samodzielności dziecka, bez względu na jego wiek.

    Artykuł omawia wybrane wątki książki Moniki Rogowskiej‑Stangret Być ze świata: nakreśla teoretyczny kontekst etyki relacyjnej i charakteryzuje symbiotyczne współ‑myślenie, które jest jej wyrazem. W pierwszej części autorka artykułu rekonstruuje argumentację, z którą wiąże się wprowadzenie do myśli posthumanistycznej kategorii „nagiej śmierci” oraz „traumy” i „stresu pourazowego”. W drugiej części autorka proponuje alternatywną interpretację „śmierci ja”, pokazując, że może ona stanowić uzupełnienie postulowanej przez Rogowską‑Stangret etyki troski.
    The article discusses selected threads of Monika Rogowska‑Stangret’s book Być ze świata. It outlines the theoretical context of relational ethics and characterizes symbiotic co-thinking, which is the expression of relational ethics. In the first part, the author of the article reconstructs the argumentation associated with introducing the categories of “naked death,” “trauma,” and “post-traumatic stress” into post-humanist thought. In the second part, the author proposes an alternative interpretation of the “ego death,” showing that it can complement the ethics of care postulated by Rogowska-Stangret.

    Opis:
    A healthcare worker is one of the most typical representatives of the so-called assisting professions, whose common objective is any form of assistance to individuals dependent on the provision of care by others. In this post, the author points to the fact that healthcare workers are confronted with the aforementioned phenomena on a daily basis. It lays stress on respect for the patient’s dignity at all times, and also provides guidance on the implementation of ethics in interaction between the healthcare workers and patients, because no human care would have been provided without this phenomenon.
    Pracownik opieki zdrowotnej jest jednym z najbardziej typowych przedstawicieli tak zwanych zawodów wspomagających, których wspólnym celem jest każda forma pomocy osobom zależnym od świadczenia opieki przez innych. W artykule tym autorka wskazuje na fakt, że pracownicy służby zdrowia mają do czynienia z takimi zjawiskami na co dzień. To kładzie nacisk na poszanowanie godności pacjenta w każdym czasie, a także dostarcza wskazówek na temat wdrożenia etyki w interakcji między pracownikami służby zdrowia a pacjentami, ponieważ bez tego zjawiska opieką nie zostałby objęty żaden człowiek.

    Opis:
    Kryzys klasycznego humanizmu jest faktem. Ujawnił bowiem on swój ciemny rewers. Są nim niewolnictwo, kolonializm, wyzysk,  wykluczenia, dyskryminacje. Humanizm okazał się być dzieckiem patriarchalizmu, szowinizmu płciowego i gatunkowego. Trzeba go więc przezwyciężyć. Jedną z propozycji jest posthumanizm. Opiera się on na odmiennej metodzie badawczej (nazywam ją tu „zmysłem udziału”), odmiennej koncepcji podmiotu (nomada) i nowej etyce, której kształt dopiero powstaje. W artykule wskazuję na jej fundamenty w postaci kobiecej etyki troski, która – w moim przekonaniu - otwiera horyzonty na bardziej holistyczne, egalitarne, spluralizowane ludzko-pozaludzkie istnienie. 
    The crisis of classical humanism is a fact. It has revealed its dark reverse. They are slavery, colonialism, exploitation, exclusion, discrimination. Humanism turned out to be the offspring of patriarchalism, gender chauvinism and speciesism. Therefore, it has to be overcome. One of the proposals is posthumanism. It is based on a different research method (I call it the “sense of participation”), a different concept of the subject (nomad) and a new ethics, the shape of which is still emerging. In the article, I point to its foundations in the form of a female ethics of care, which – in my opinion – opens the horizons to a more holistic, egalitarian, pluralized human–non-human existence.
