    Opis:
    Since the mid-1950s, when Jerzy Znosko started his huge contribution to the recognition of the crystalline basement of NE Poland, many different studies have followed the planned and implemented drilling projects. The drillings, conducted in the first decade under the leadership of Professor Znosko and under his description of the results, were further worked out by other researchers. Studies concerned petrological, geochemical and miner- alogical aspects. In that fan of methods applied, geochronological data started to be introduced to the bibliography of the area in the early 1960s. Geochronological methods that time mean mostly K-Ar and some Rb-Sr values. These materials are gathered in the paper aiming at its presentation, re-valuation and interpretation in terms of the significance of such data for further development of knowledge.

    Opis:
    The intensive development of studies on the crystalline basement of the Polish part of the East European Platform started only in the mid-1950s. These studies were based on geophysical research that preceded planned deep drilling projects. Twenty-five drill holes were located along four sections called: Białowieża, Kruszyniany, Sokółka and Krasnopol. The aim of this article is to re-evaluate drilling materials in the light of a variety of data, mainly structural data obtained from 20 boreholes from the first three "drilling sections”. All these sections were located on the Belarus-Lithuanian Elevation where the crystalline basement occurs at the shallowest depths. Special attention was paid to the recognition of ductile shear zones, SM foliation, LM mineral lineation and kinematic indicators. The results of the studies made it possible to identify the direction of tectonic transport, mainly with the top-to-SW, S and W, and deformation regimes in the boreholes of the Podlasie Belt. The main deformations have been related to a compressional regime in the amphibolite and granulite facies of regional metamorphism during the Svecofennian orogeny. It is suggested for the future to combine the research efforts of specialists from different fields of geological sciences. However, due to the scarcity of core material from old drillings, the most important are new deep boreholes that will provide a lot of drilling material to explain the geological structure and the evolution of the Proterozoic basement of NE Poland.

    This paper presents structural data and regional correlations based on drill cores from 8 boreholes (B2-1/80, B3-1/81, B4-1/81, B6-1/82, B6-2/85, B7-1/91, B16-1/85 and B21-1/95) penetrating Precambrian crystalline rocks in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea. The crystalline rocks from the ftom these boreholes were compared to cores from several wells in Eastern Pomerania, and the Kashubian and Warmia regions and above all with the Mesoproterozoic granitoids and metamorphic rocks of Bornholm and Southern Sweden. The pre-existing basement map of the Southern Baltic, showing Palaeoproterozoic or even Archaean granitoid massifs and narrow north-south fold belts is questioned. Instead, in the present interpretation, the studied area of the Polish part of the Southern Baltic Sea is underlain by a fragment of the Mesoproterozoic (ca. 1.47–1.43 Ga) Danopolonian („Hallandian”) orogeny, comprising mainly regional-scale ductile shear zones, which, striking probably in W–E to WNW–ESE directions, are characterized by the predominance of a thrust to transpressional strain regime with tectonic transport top-to-the S or SSW. The structural kinematic and lithological interpretations of these shear zones are based on comparison with the other parts of the East European Craton that are exposed in Bornholm and the Blekinge and Skne regions in Southern Sweden.

    Opis:
    W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań doświadczalnych i symulacyjnych, których celem jest wyznaczenie parametrów warstwowej struktury dna morskiego. W badaniach empirycznych zastosowano nieinwazyjną metodę sondowania wykorzystującą echosondę parametryczną SES-2000 Standard. Badania te przeprowadzono na akwenie Zatoki Gdańskiej. Wyniki sondowania porównano z danymi otrzymanymi z analizy odwiertów dokonanych przez wyspecjalizowane instytucje. Zwrócono uwagę na czynniki decydujące o dokładności pomiarów, a w szczególności na różne prędkości rozchodzenia się fali sondującej w zależności od rodzaju osadów dennych. Otrzymane wyniki są wstępem do opracowania pełnej procedury badania górnej warstwy dna morskiego wykorzystującej metody akustyki nieliniowej.
    The paper presents the results of experimental and simulation investigations, whose aim are to determine parameters of the sea bottom layered structure. The non-invasive sounding method employing SES-2000 parametric echo sounder was used to conduct empirical investigation. The investigations were conducted in the bay of Gdańsk. The results of the sounding were compared with the data obtained from the analyses of bore-holes made by specialized firms. Attention was paid to the factors responsible for the accuracy of measurement, especially to different speed values of propagation of the sounding wave dependent on the kind of bottom sediments.
