    The borderland is a specific reality, which not reduce for one culture because this culture was created by connected, penetrated or crashed culture in one social space, for example borderland language, traditions and customs or architecture. The distinctive mark of borderland are ethnic and nation minorities which define this social space. The Polish and Czech Republic borderland is being created by Polish and Czech cultures but others – Slovak, German, Moravian and Roma cultures, too. In this context we can talk about isolation process on the one hand and on the other hand about social exchange which give new social reality. The research of borderland is first of all analysis how cultural diversity create social, economic and politic life in the borderland.

    Celem tego artykułu jest identyfikacja charakteru współpracy transgranicznej na poziomie lokalnym na pograniczu polsko-czeskim, ze szczególnym zwróceniem uwagi na sieć powiązań transgranicznych. Badanie dotyczyło współpracy objętej wsparciem Programu Współpracy Transgranicznej Republika Czeska – Rzeczpospolita Polska 2007–2013 w ramach EWT. Analizie poddano zarówno wszystkie realizowane projekty, jak i wszystkich beneficjentów, tj. 250 projektów oraz 350 polskich i czeskich instytucji. Z uwagi na charakter pogranicza polsko-czeskiego, którego znaczną część stanowią obszary górskie, specjalną uwagę zwrócono na projekty z zakresu turystyki. Badanie wykazało, że sieć współpracy była słabo rozwinięta, natomiast wyraźnie widoczne były kluczowe węzły sieci, tworzące grupę instytucji najbardziej aktywnych w kształtowaniu relacji współpracy transgranicznej.
    The aim of this paper is to identify the character of transborder cooperation on the local level in the Polish-Czech borderland with a special focus on the transborder relations network. To this end, the author analyzes cooperation co-financed under Poland-Czech Republic Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2007–2013 in the framework of ETC and examines all realized Project and all beneficiaries, i.e. 250 projects and 350 Polish and Czech institutions. Due to the mountainous character of the Polish-Czech borderland, special attention is paid to projects concerning tourism. The research reveals that the cooperation network is poorly developed. However, the most import ant nodes in this network are clearly visible and they are the most active institutions that shape the relations of transborder cooperation.

    Aim: The borderland is a category that has been the subject of many theoretical resolutions, in the field of philosophy, sociology and pedagogy. For the needs of the presented analyses, the category of borderland has been adopted in territorial terms, in which it is an area, a common space in which two or more ethnic and cultural groups function. The forms of coexistence are shaped by being next to each other – contact with each other and mutual relationships. Cross-border cooperation is developing very intensively on the Polish-Czech border. This article is aimed to present selected activities carried out as part of cross-border cooperation, with a particular emphasis on those initiated and implemented by the Pedagogical Centre for Nationality Education in Czech Cieszyn. Methods: The text was prepared with the use of document analyses. Results: The result is a description of some selected activities conducted on the Polish-Czech border. Conclusions: Cross-border cooperation is aimed at removing all barriers preventing joint actions and ensuring the flow of experience between regions in different countries. Various ways of building cooperation between neighbours in individual Euroregions can be considered, as well as various ways in which the inhabitants of the borderland use its potential in different parts of the border zone. The funds allocated for joint workshops, field activities, sports or cultural events are aimed at fostering the familiarization with neighbour, seeking knowledge and overcoming stereotypes that may contribute to creating barriers to establishing closer relationships.

    W artykule głębszej analizie została poddana współpraca w ramach Euroregionu Śląsk Cieszyński. Stanowi ona ciekawy obiekt badawczy ze względu na zaszłości historyczne – spory o tereny Śląska Cieszyńskiego. Znamiennym symbolem regionu są przedzielone granicą miasta Cieszyn i Czeski Cieszyn. Celem artykułu jest analiza współpracy transgranicznej między Polską a Republiką Czeską na terenie euroregionu. Przyjęto hipotezę, że rozwija się ona systematycznie po wstąpieniu Polski i Czech do Unii Europejskiej, a także, że rozwija się obecnie przede wszystkim dzięki funduszom pozyskiwanym z Unii Europejskiej. Założono także, że  uwarunkowania historyczne oraz kulturowe mają niekorzystny wpływ na rozwój współpracy. Do zweryfikowania hipotez wykorzystane zostały przede wszystkim dane urzędowe publikowane po zakończeniu projektów realizowanych przez Euroregion Śląsk Cieszyński.
    The article is focused on the cooperation within the Euroregion Cieszyn Silesia. It is an interesting area for research because of the difficult history of the region, including military confrontations over territory of Cieszyn Silesia. Towns Cieszyn and Český Těšín (Czech Cieszyn) are divided by a border on the Olza River and still are a significant symbol of the region. The aim of the article is to analyse cross-border cooperation between Poland and Czech Republic in the Euroregion Cieszyn Silesia. First hypothesis of the article says that cooperation has been developing systematically since the accession of Poland and Czech Republic to the European Union and it is primarily based on the European Funds. It is also said that historical and cultural determinants have negative impact on the cooperation development. First and foremost, to verify hypotheses mentioned above, there have been used official data published by the administrators of the projects that were implemented in the Euroregion Cieszyn Silesia.

    Jest to artykuł recenzyjny poświęcony książce Karoliny Ćwiek-Rogalskiej pod tytułem Zapamiętane w krajobrazie. Krajobraz kulturowy czesko-niemieckiego pogranicza w czasach przemian. Książka dotyczy przemian w krajobrazie kulturowym terenów przynależnych współcześnie do Republiki Czeskiej i leżących przy jej niemieckiej granicy w okresie od powstania Czechosłowacji, to jest od 1918 roku do współczesności. Przedstawione są w niej badania terenowe autorki przeprowadzone w latach 2012–2014 w gminie Dolní Žandov (niem. Unter Sandau), należącej do powiatu Cheb, mieszczącym się w kraju karlowarskim. Stanowią one etnograficzny spacer po gminie, uzupełniony przez dodatkowe badania poza jej granicami oraz analizę materiałów archiwalnych.
    This is a review article dedicated to a book by Karolina Ćwiek-Rogalska titled Zapamiętane w krajobrazie. Krajobraz kulturowy czesko-niemieckiego pogranicza w czasach przemian (Imprinted in the Landscape: The Cultural Landscape of the Czech-German Borderland in the Times of Change). The book deals with the changes in the cultural landscape of the terrains which now belong to the Czech Republic and lie at its German frontier in the period starting from the founding of Czechoslovakia, i.e., from 1918 to the present day. It is based on field studies carried out by the author in the years 2012-2014 in the municipality of Dolní Žandov (German: Unter Sandau), which belongs to the Cheb District, located in the Karlovy Vary Region. The said studies involve an ethnographic walk around Cheb, supplemented by additional research conducted beyond its borders and an analysis of archival materials.

    W artykule poddano analizie dwujęzyczny dramaturgiczno-inscenizacyjny wspólny projekt Sceny Polskiej i České scény (Sceny Czeskiej) Těšínského divadla (Teatru Cieszyńskiego) w Českém Těšíně (Czeskim Cieszynie) pn. Těšínské niebo Cieszyńskie nebe. Ten muzyczny „sentymentalny rajd tramwajowy – sentymentální tramvajová rallye” przez wieki po wielokulturowym regionie i wielokulturowym mieście był – zgodnie z zamierzeniem realizatorów przedsięwzięcia: Jaromíra Nohavicy, Renaty Putzlacher, Radovana Lipusa, Tomaša Kočko – „próbą spojrzenia na cieszyńską ziemię przez pryzmat minionych lat i zdarzeń, pełną nostalgii i humoru, z przywołaniem związanych z tym regionem postaci prawdziwych i mitycznych”1. Próbą przeprowadzoną zgodnie z przyjętą przez autorów projektu nadrzędną, zainspirowaną przez ideę euroregionu, zasadą eksponowania tego, co społeczność pogranicza łączyło/łączy i w efekcie tworzy płaszczyznę wartości wspólnych, a nie tego, co dzieliło/dzieli. Poszukiwanie wspólnych elementów kultury, podobieństw dziejów okazało się tutaj zbieżne z założeniami edukacji międzykulturowej. Przyjętą opcję postrzegania polsko-czeskich pogranicznych dziejów oraz wizję współistnienia obu narodów w Cieszyńskim determinował nadto fakt przyjęcia obu państw w struktury Unii Europejskiej (premiera spektaklu 15 maja 2004 roku). Z tej perspektywy została skonstruowana materia następujących po sobie sekwencji spektaklu i wyłaniała się koncepcja człowieka pogranicza jako człowieka pełniejszego, bo wzbogaconego duchowo innością drugiego. Przedstawienie współuczestniczyło w podejmowanym po 1989 roku procesie formowania odpowiednio wysokiego poziomu zbiorowej tożsamości lokalnej, regionalnej oraz euroregionalnej społeczności zamieszkujących oba miasta graniczne i oba przygraniczne obszary.
    What was subjected to analysis in the presented study is the bilingual stage project of the Polish Scene and the Czech Scene of the Cieszyn Theatre in Czech Cieszyn entitled Těšínské niebo Cieszyńskie nebe /Cieszyn Skies/ (first staged on 15th May 2004). In compliance with the intentions of the undertakers: Jaromír Nohavica, Renata Putzlacher, Radovan Lipus, Tomaš Kočko, this musical “sentimental tramway trip” through ages in the multicultural region and town was “an attempt at viewing the area of Cieszyn through the past years and events – an attempt full of nostalgia and humour as well as references to real and mythical figures associated with this region”50. This was carried out according to the superior principle, applied by the authors of the project and inspired by the idea of the Euroregion, of exposing what has been linking the borderland community (and results in a platform of common values) and not what has been dividing it. The search for common elements of culture and historical similarities has turned out to be compliant with the assumptions of intercultural education. The applied option of viewing the Polish-Czech borderland history and the vision of coexistence of both nationalities in the area of Cieszyn have been also determined by joining the structures of the European Union (the opening took place on 15th May 2004). It was from this perspective that the consecutive sequences of the spectacle were constructed, unveiling the concept of the borderland man as a more complete person – spiritually enriched with the dissimilarity of the other. The spectacle has contributed to the process (started in 1989) of forming appropriately high collective local, regional and Euroregional awareness of the community inhabiting both borderland towns and regions.

    Opis:
    Wilhelm Przeczek is a Polish writer who has lived in Karviná, the Czech Republic, since he was born in 1936. He is a member of a Polish minority and he has aimed his literary output at its members and at readers in Poland. Translations into the Czech language are aimed at readers in the Czech Republic. Having made a protest against the intervention of the Warsaw Pact armies into Czechoslovakia in August 1968, W. Przeczek was not allowed to publish and he was dismissed – he had worked as an editor of a Polish paper “Głos Ludu”. In 1970–1977 he worked as an actor, stage director, and dramatic advisor of a puppet show theatre Bajka in Český Těšín, the Czech Republic. In his article, the author deals with poems by W. Przeczek’s on the subject of journeys about Europe. The starting point is local, but a global result.
    Autor poświęca uwagę pisarzowi polskiemu z czeskiego Śląska cieszyńskiego, rodakowi z przemysłowej Karwiny, który później zamieszkał na Podbeskidziu w Bystrzycy nad Olzą. Zajmuje się więc poetyckimi krajobrazami w twórczości jednego z najwybitniejszych poetów zaolziańskich nie tylko przemysłowych i górskich, ale również z podróży autora po Czechach i za granicą.
