Opis:
In order to utilize energy from low voltage power source it is necessary to use isolated DC/DC boost converter which will provide desirable input voltage step-up. To obtain a high voltage gain it is necessary to apply a magnetic device with the relevant turns ratio to the converter structure. This can be coupled inductor or transformer. The great advantage of the transformer is galvanic isolation between the subsequent power levels. Unfortunately, the high values of voltage gain is accompanied by significant currents on the primary transformer side. Large DC input currents cause an increase in power losses as the transistor conduction losses are proportional to square of current. The solution to this problem would be to divide a large input current into smaller currents through applying balancing transformers in converter structure. The input current in one stage exactly matches the current in the parallel branch, therefore there is no need for additional control to guarantee current balancing between power stages. This technique, together with the use of transistors with a small drain-source resistance and output SiC (silicon carbide) Schottky diodes enables converter to achieve necessary output voltage. This paper presents PSpice simulation results and mathematical analysis of half-bridge isolated DC/DC boost converter. In presented circuit high voltage gain and high conversion efficiency were achieved.

Opis:
This paper presents a concept and the results of an investigation of a DC–DC boost converter with high voltage gain and a reduced number of switches. The novel concept assumes that the converter operates in a topology composed of series connection switched- capacitor-based multiplier (SCVM) sections. Furthermore, the structure of the sections has significant impact on parameters of the converter which is discussed in this paper. The paper demonstrates the basic benefit such a multisection SCVM idea in the converter, which is the significant reduction in the number of switches and diodes for high voltage gain in comparison to an SCVM converter. Aside from the number of switches and diodes, such parameters as efficiency and volume of passive components in the multisection converter are analyzed in this paper. In figures, the analysis is demonstrated using the example of 100 kW thyristor-based converters. All the characteristics of the converter are compared between various configurations of switching cells in the particular sections, thus the paper can be useful for a design approach for a high voltage gain multicell converter.

Opis:
Boost DC/DC pulse converter structure with regard to conduction power losses for Continuous Current Mode has been analyzed in the paper. Simplified model of converter which takes into account the nonlinearity of the static characteristic switches was usedfor theoretical analysis. The models of the transistor and diode whose static characteristic are modeled as in series connection ideal electronic switch, the constant voltage source and dynamic effective resistance have been used. The dynamic losses of powers occurring in the switching process of electronic switches were not captured in the work. The proposed model of the converter has the use in the case, when it works at low switching frequencies, when the losses of switching are considerably smaller than the losses of conductivity. This land of model is useful, particularly in the case of the converter supplied the low voltage, when the voltages loss on electronic switches is significant. Analysis was performed for Continuous Current Mode (CCM) with voltage step up. Results of theoretical analysis have been presented and were verified by simulation. TCAD circuit simulator was used for simulation. Simulations confirm results of theoretical analysis.

Opis:
The purpose of this paper is to propose a model of a novel quasi-resonant boost converter with a tapped inductor. This converter combines the advantages of zero voltage quasi-resonant techniques and different conduction modes with the possibility of obtaining a high voltage conversion ratio by using a tapped inductor, which results in high converter efficiency and soft switching in the whole output power range. The paper contains an analysis of converter operation, a determination of voltage conversion ratio and the maximum voltage across power semiconductor switches as well as a discussion of control methods in discontinuous, critical, and continuous conduction modes. In order to verify the novelty of the proposed converter, a laboratory prototype of 300 W power was built. The highest efficiency η = 94.7% was measured with the output power Po = 260 W and the input voltage Vin = 50 V. The lowest efficiency of 90.7% was obtained for the input voltage Vin = 30 V and the output power Po = 75 W. The model was tested at input voltages (30–50) V, output voltage 380 V and maximum switching frequency 100 kHz.
