    Opis:
    The article develops the concept of true witness of the four canonical Gospels to Jesus Christ the Incarnated Word. The starting point is presentation of the teaching of the Pontifical Biblical Commission (PBC) in the document The Inspiration and Truth of the Sacred Scripture (2014) about the witness of the Bible, especially the Gospels. The canonical Gospels are considered in it as main witness of the life and teaching of the Incarnated Word. The article demonstrates that the PBC repeats here the teaching of the conciliar constitution Dei Verbum (1965). Argumentation in the article emphasizes the historical reliability of the transmission of the life and teaching of the historical Jesus in the Church tradition: historical Jesus – eye witnesses – written Gospels – authoritative interpretation in the Church. The canonical Gospels are not primarily literary texts but a truthful registration of the witness of faith of Jesus’ believers. Consequently, the hermeneutic of faith is the only methodology that is apt to explain and understand the true nature of the Scriptures.

    W numerze jedenastym Konstytucji o Objawieniu Bożym Dei verbum znalazło się sformułowanie: „wszystko to, co autorzy natchnieni, czyli hagiografowie, twierdzą, należy uważać za stwierdzone przez Ducha Świętego”. W artykule ukazane zostały racje konieczności podjęcia pogłębionej interpretacji tego fragmentu. Spośród licznych przesłanek uzasadniających reinterpretację zostały wybrane te, które wynikają z odczytania cytowanego ustępu w kontekście całego numeru jedenastego i całego dokumentu soborowego. W pierwszej części artykułu wskazano najpierw na potrzebę uwzględnienia różnych możliwości rozumienia frazy, że Duch Święty „wszystko i tylko to, co sam chciał” przekazał przez ludzkich autorów. Następnie zaprezentowano różnicę między mową Boga w pojedynczym fragmencie oraz w całym kanonie. Znaczące wnioski wynikają również ze związku natchnienia z prawdą biblijną. W drugiej części tekstu za ojcami soboru odwołano się do analogii inkarnacyjnej, by na tej podstawie uzasadnić potrzebę przejścia od uniżonej formy słowa Bożego do jego wywyższenia, a także wzięto pod uwagę różnicę między Słowem Wcielonym i wypowiadanymi przez Niego słowami a pozostałymi słowami biblijnymi. Podane w DV 12 zasady interpretacji Biblii rzucają dodatkowe światło na poszukiwanie tego, co spodobało się Duchowi Świętemu wypowiedzieć przez hagiografów. W ostatniej partii materiału wyeksponowano fakt, że objawienie Boże dociera do Ludu Bożego w historii, co stanowi jeszcze jeden powód dla reinterpretacji DV 11.
    Paragraph eleven of Dei verbum, the Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation, contains a formulation: “everything asserted by the inspired authors or sacred writers must be held to be asserted by the Holy Spirit.” The article presents the reasons for the necessity of undertaking a deeper interpretation of this passage. From among the numerous reasons justifying the reinterpretation, those that result from reading the quoted passage in the context of the whole of paragraph eleven and the whole of the conciliar document have been selected. The first part of the article points out the need to consider the different ways of understanding the phrase that the Holy Spirit “consigned to writing everything and only those things which He wanted” through human authors. The difference between the speech of God in a single passage and in the whole canon is then presented. Significant conclusions are also drawn from the relationship between inspiration and biblical truth. In the second part of the text, the Council fathers follow the incarnational analogy to justify on this basis the need to move from the humble form of the word of God to its exaltation, and the difference between the incarnate Word and the words he speaks, and the rest of the biblical words is taken into account. The principles of biblical interpretation given in DV 12 shed additional light on the search for what it pleased the Holy Spirit to utter through the hagiographers. The last part of the material highlights the fact that God’s revelation reaches God's people in history, which is one more reason for the reinterpretation of DV 11.
