The assurance of top-quality products requires improved machine tool accuracy. The accuracy of the machine tool is primarily effected by the geometric, thermal and others errors. One of the important trends in machine tool development is improving of machine tool design and development of error compensation techniques. This paper presents currently the most useful methods of machine tool error compensation and effectiveness and main constraints of compensation methods.

W artykule przedstawiono zarys teorii błędów i niepewności występujących podczas bezstykowego pomiaru temperatury a pomocą kamery termowizyjnej. Wskazano na różnicę pomiędzy pojęciami błędu i niepewności. Dodatkowo przeprowadzono dyskusję źródeł powstawania błędów i niepewności w tego typu pomiarach. Zaprezentowano wyniki analizy niepewności metodą Monte Carlo dla wybranych warunków pomiaru. Treść artykułu odnosi się do monografii autorów pod tytułem: "Infrared Thermography - errors and uncertainties" będącej aktualnie w druku w wydawnictwie John Wiley & Sons.
In the paper there is presented an outline of the theory of errors and uncertainties for non-contact temperature measurements with an infrared camera. The paper begins with an introduction. In this section, the model of the infrared camera measurement path is described and a difference between the error and uncertainty concept is pointed out. The next section deals with the errors of infrared thermography measurements [1, 3]. In this section an analysis of the source of errors is conducted as well [3, 4]. The exemplary results of the error analysis regarding with the emissivity errors are shown (Figs. 1-3). In Section 3 an uncertainty analysis of the infrared thermography measurements is performed [1-3, 5-12, 14]. The exemplary results of the uncertainty analysis with the Monte Carlo simulations are presented (Figs. 5, 6). These results are obtained for the commonly occurring measurement conditions. The paper ends with conclusions. In this section the quantitative conclusions from the error and uncertainty analysis are drawn. These conclusions can be very useful for thermographers taking the infrared thermography measurements in practical situations. The contents of this paper refers to the authors' monograph entitled "Infrared Thermography - errors and uncertainties", currently printed in John Wiley & Sons.

Przedmiotem artykułu jest problem błędów oceny i jej skutków. Autorzy omawiają problematykę procesu oceniania pracowników zwracając uwagę, że ocenianie jest jednym z najbardziej rozpowszechnionych działań w praktyce funkcjonowania przedsiębiorstwa. Dzieje się tak między innymi dlatego, że ocena pracy pracownika stanowi podstawę wielu decyzji personalnych i jest ściśle związana z wykonywaniem funkcji kierowniczych. Następnie autorzy dokonują analizy systemu oceniania określając jego cechy oraz celów oceniania pracowników z punktu widzenia pracownika i pracodawcy. Podkreślają, że dobrze opracowany system ocen stanowi duże ułatwienie dla kadry kierowniczej, jak również dla pracowników, dlatego powinien opierać się na jasno sprecyzowanych zasadach i kryteriach. Na koniec autorzy prezentują błędy w procesie oceniania pracownika, gdyż nieumiejętne ocenianie może przynieść więcej szkód niż korzyści. Podkreślają, że prawdopodobieństwo występowania błędów będzie mniejsze, gdy staranniej cały proces zostanie przygotowany pod względem merytorycznym, psychologicznym oraz organizacyjnym. Oprócz dobrego przygotowania potrzebna jest też duża odpowiedzialność ze strony osób oceniających.
The subject of the article is the problem of assessment errors and its consequences. The authors discusses the problem of the assessment process of employees, noting that assessment is one of the most widespread activities in the practice of the functioning of the company. This happens, among others, because the assessment of the employee’s work is the basis for many personnel decisions and is closely related to the performance of managerial functions. Next, the authors analyze the assessment system defining its features and the purposes of assessing employees from the point of view of the employee and the employer. They emphasize that a well-designed evaluation system is a great facilitation for the managerial staff as well as for employees, and should therefore be based on clearly defined rules and criteria. Finally, the authors present errors in the employee assessment process, because improper assessment can bring more harm than benefits. They emphasize that the probability of errors will be less when the whole process is prepared in terms of its substance, psychology and organization. In addition to good preparation, you also need a lot of responsibility from the assessors.

Opis:
Warehousing is a labour-intensive process, requiring warehouse operators to use different methods of work and various equipment and to be in constant motion. During this process, various types of warehousing errors can occur, which can be reduced with the introduction of a suitable strategy. A prerequisite for this is to have sufficient knowledge of the specifics of error prevention in the warehouse process that are mainly linked to how warehouse operators perceive the usefulness of modern technology, the introduction of modern work processes and their own accountability in work. This study aims to develop a strategy that takes into account these aspects and is an ideal solution for the prevention of potential errors in the warehouse process of the company.

Opis:
For 10 years, or maybe even longer, an exhibition named People from Thou-sand Towns, prepared by YIVO, has been available for all of the Internet users. Basi-cally speaking, it is not a display in the literal sense of the word, but a catalogue of several pictures (together with their descriptions), which portray lives of Jews in pre-war shtetls. The photographs were acquired in various ways. One of these ways consisted in inclusion of press photographs of New York’s “Forwarts” jour-nal, which was continually published in the interwar period, into the catalogue. Because the Holocaust led to the complete disappearance of the small town Jewish culture, every piece of such material is precious, for it constitutes specified cognitive material. Among the images of Jews, the exhibit/catalogue also presents those pho-tographs which were taken in Radzyń Podlaski. „Forwarts” is a newspaper published in the Yiddish language, up to the end of the 19th century, which in a certain moment, on the several last pages titled Kunst wejlage, in other words artistic section, had started to include photographs of Polish and Russian Jews with short comments translated into English. They do not pre-sent high artistic quality and they are merely plain photographs, which resemble standard pictures which we may find in today’s newspapers. The captions under those photographs are paltry, although the characters portrayed on those pages of the journal, were not always common, average Jews. The newspaper often in-formed about e.g. deaths of small-town authorities or even smaller events which were important only for those tiny communities. The section was full of that kind of curiosities from shtetls. Therefore, it is not a photographic chronicle, which reflects the course of social or political life. There is also no key, according to which the photographs were posted. YIVO presented 5 photographs at the exhibition, which were supposedly made in Radzyń Podlaski. Unfortunately, two of them, originating from “the For-warts” were not taken on the Radzyń’s soil. The first one, from 1923, presents a sopher - namely a person who, based on strict rules, transcribed Torah. This cus-tom remained even after the print was discovered. When I examined the original, however, it turned out that under the photograph, there is no information about Radzyń’s origin of the sopher. On the other hand, right next to the picture, the newspaper presented another photograph, which was taken in Radzyń and which was absent in the YIVO catalogue. This means that somebody made a mistake and wrongfully identified that Jew as a Radzyń’s sopher.
Od 10 lat, a może dłużej, dostępna jest dla wszystkich użytkowników inter-netu wystawa przygotowana przez YIVO pod tytułem People from Thousand Towns. Właściwie nie jest to ekspozycja w dosłownym tego słowa znaczeniu, lecz katalog zdjęć (wraz z opisem) portretujących życie Żydów w przedwojennych sztetlach. Pozyskiwano je w różny sposób. Jeden z nich polegał na włączaniu do katalogu fotografii prasowych z nowojorskiego dziennika „Forwerts”, który wychodził w okresie międzywojennym. Ponieważ Zagłada doprowadziła do całkowitego zani-ku kultury Żydów małomiasteczkowych, każdy taki materiał jest cenny, ponieważ tworzy skonkretyzowany materiał poznawczy. Wśród wizerunków Żydów znala-zły się na wystawie/katalogu i te wykonane w Radzyniu Podlaskim. „Forwerts” to gazeta wychodząca w języku jidysz od końca XIX w., która w pewnym momencie na swoich ostatnich paru stronach zatytułowanych Kunst wejlage, czyli sekcja artystyczna, zaczęła zamieszczać zdjęcia polskich i rosyjskich Żydów z krótkimi komentarzami tłumaczonymi na język angielski. Nie prezentują one wysokiego poziomu artystycznego, a są zwykłymi fotografiami, do jakich je-steśmy dziś przyzwyczajeni w gazetach. Podpisy pod nimi są błahe, choć nie zaw-sze bohaterami tych stron dziennika byli przeciętni, zwykli Żydzi. Często infor-mowano np., o śmierci małomiasteczkowych autorytetów albo o drobniejszych wydarzeniach ważnych tylko tych małych środowisk. Dział ten był pełen tego typu ciekawostek ze sztetli. Nie jest to zatem kronika fotograficzna oddająca bieg życia społecznego czy politycznego. Nie ma też żadnego klucza, wedle którego zamiesz-czano zdjęcia. YIVO na ekspozycji pokazało 5 zdjęć wykonanych jakoby w Radzyniu Pod-laskim. Niestety, dwa z nich pochodzące z „Forwarts” nie zostały wykonane na ziemi radzyńskiej.

Istnieje dużo przykładów na brak wiedzy o typach, funkcjonowaniu i zasadach ochrony dzieł fortyfikacyjnych – skutkujący znacznymi błędami konserwatorskimi w zakresie ich rewaloryzacji: wprowadzania współczesnych funkcji i form architektonicznych. Dlatego podstawą rozpoczęcia prac inwestycyjnych musi być obiektywna waloryzacja istniejących obiektów: ich autentyzmu, stopnia zachowania itp. Niniejszy tekst dotyczy tej problematyki i sygnalizuje kierunki postępowania konserwatorsko-projektowego. Artykuł powstał w efekcie autorskich badań terenowych i bibliograficznych zagadnienia wartościowania zabytków architektury. Zarysowano w nim tło problematyki waloryzacji murowo-ziemnych obiektów pofortecznych. Na podstawie badań: 1) rozpoznano historyczne formy umocnień oraz rodzaje budulca, z jakiego je wykonywano, 2) identyfikowano pozostałości umocnień ziemnych oraz ich stopień i stan zachowania, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem Fortu Cze (Piłsudskiego), 3) wyodrębniono potencjalne wartości omawianej kategorii dziedzictwa architektonicznego. Na zakończenie przedstawiono negatywny konserwatorsko przykład adaptacji Fortu Cze (Piłsudskiego), przekazujący nieprawdziwy obraz historycznego obiektu.
There are many examples of the lack of knowledge about the types, functioning and principles of protection of fortification works – resulting in significant conservation errors in their revalorisation: the introduction of contemporary functions and architectural forms. Therefore, the basis for commencing investment works must be the objective valorisation of the existing objects: their authenticity, degree of preservation, etc. This text concerns this issue and signals the directions of conservation and design proceedings. The article was written as a result of original field and bibliographical research on the issue of architectural monuments valuation. The background to the problem of valorization of brick and earth post-fortifications objects has been drawn. On the basis of research: 1) historical forms of fortifications were identified and the types of building material from which they were made, 2) the remains of earth fortifications were identified as well as their degree and state of preservation, with particular emphasis on Fort Cze (Piłsudski), 3) the potential values of the discussed architectural heritage category were distinguished. At the end, a negative conservator’s example of the adaptation of Fort Cze (Piłsudski), conveying an untrue image of a historical object, was presented.

This paper deals with an analysis and error estimation of geometrical interpretation of circularity profile of machinery parts using non-reference methods. The obtained results were applied in the correction of polar circularity profile graphs.

The standard ISO 6336 for the calculation of load capacity of spur and helical gears was introduced in 2006. There were some later amendments, but several typographical and other errors. These can cause some misunderstandings during applications of the standard and are irritating for its users. This contribution seeks to highlight some aspects of the use of this standard, as well as drawing users’ attention to the errors it contains and, at the same time, properly worded content. To fully appreciate this article, the reader is advised to have a copy of the standard itself. Parts 3 and 6 of the standard are covered in the contribution.

Opis:
Bridges are often built in complex geological-engineering conditions, on difficult soils, landslide areas or within the range of negative mining influences. These objects are classified as geotechnical category II or III and a ground investigation documentation or geotechnical design should be carried out for them. The correct investigation of the soil, design, and execution in accordance with technical knowledge, the art of construction and the Building Code are a guarantee of the safety of the facility. However, very often it is the complexity of the geological structure, concentrated vertical and horizontal loads transferred by the supports to the soil that make it necessary to use deep foundations, special methods of soil reinforcement and imposing a special technological regime during the execution of construction works. The paper pays attention to anthropogenic and natural factors, as well as those that are the consequence of inappropriate human actions at the design or execution stage. Particular attention is paid to errors in the soil analysis and execution of construction works. An example of such errors analysis is presented in relation to the implementation of a bridge structure.

The following paper presents the analysis and synthesis of technological schemes, processes, tools and equipment for processing of conical gears and precession gears with medium module. As a result, a new method which allows to intensify the process of treatment, is proposed. It ensures a required accuracy of processing. The theoretical considerations are based on the theory of gear drives, theory of involute profiles generation and precession gears, generating machine, tool design theory and machine building technology. Methods of mathematical analysis, analytic geometry, mathematical model and 3D computer model are used. The experimental research was conducted in laboratories of the Departments of Machine Building Technology and the Department of Fundamentals of Machines Design at the Technical University of Moldova, by using machines and technological equipment for machining and testing. Experimental data processing was accomplished using approximation methods and mathematical statistics.

Opis:
Przedstawiono podstawowe mankamenty i uchybienia opróbowania złóż kopalin stałych. Podkreślono powszechny brak systematycznych opróbowań kontrolnych i oceny dokładności opróbowania w dokumentacjach geologicznych. Zwrócono uwagę na zbyt powściągliwy i niedostateczny opis opróbowania rdzeni wiertniczych i wyrobisk górniczych. Zaproponowano poszerzony zakres i układ projektu opróbowania złóż. Scharakteryzowano specyficzne problemy opróbowania złóż węgla kamiennego, wapieni i rud Cu-Ag. Na przykładzie fikcyjnego zbioru danych zilustrowano wpływ trzech rodzajów błędów opróbowania (losowego, systematycznego stałego i systematycznego proporcjonalnego) na ocenę zawartości składników chemicznych.
The basic shortcomings and misconduct of deposits’ sampling were presented. The common lack of systematic control samples and the assessment of deposit sampling accuracy in geological reporting were emphasized. The attention has been drawn to too laconic and insufficient description of sampling of bore cores and mine workings. The specific problems of deposit sampling of hard coal, limestone and Cu-Ag ores were characterized. The impact of three kinds of sampling errors (random, systematic - constant and systematic – proportional) on an estimation of mean contents of chemical components was illustrated by example of fictional data set.

Opis:
The purpose of the paper is to present how the basic assumption of the professional language, namely precision, is implemented in legal texts. The paper focuses on language structures that are characteristic of the legal language but at the same time affect its precision. Some examples include ambiguous terms, or unclear and underspecified expressions. The paper concentrates mainly on analysing legal definitions as a way of avoiding ambiguity as well as on the manner of building correct definitions. The author indicates which categories of errors should be avoided in constructing legal definitions (vicious circle of definition; defining the unknown by the unknown; definition irrelevance) in order to make a legal text clear. Given that legal norms define orders, prohibitions and permits, precision of the language used is of paramount importance. For it is precision that influences interpretation as well as translation to foreign languages.

Opis:
Tematem artykułu jest analiza błędów popełnionych przez uczniów polonijnych szkół amerykańskich podczas warsztatów przygotowujących do egzaminu certyfikatowego z języka polskiego jako obcego. Zestawienie powtarzających się uchybień pozwala ukazać specyfikę języka przedstawicieli młodej Polonii amerykańskiej i może też posłużyć jako pomoc w procesie glottodydaktycznym, gdyż błędy pokazują, na co warto położyć nacisk podczas przygotowań do takiego egzaminu.
The article focuses on the analysis of the errors made by the students of Polish from community schools based in the USA collected during the workshop preparing them for the certification examination in Polish as a foreign language. The comparison of the recurring errors allows some insight into the language used by young representatives of the Polish community in the USA. It may also serve as an aid in the didactic process since the errors point to those aspects which need to be given due attention during the preparation for such an examination.
