    Opis:
    In this study, general information on assembly line and simulation and researches on assembly line balancing are theoretically analysed. Afterward time studies with respect to blouse production, which will be analysed in assembly line balancing, are conducted and information, which is necessary for assembly line balancing, is obtained. In parallel with the data obtained, the assembly line is firstly balanced by the Hoffman method, which is one of the heuristic methods. Then the assembly line is balanced again using the Arena Simulation program and results which belong to two different assembly line balancing resolutions are given. The aim of the study is to create an assembly line which has highest line efficiency by using an optimum number of machines and operators as well as highlight the applicability of the Hoffman method to ready-to-wear assembly lines.
    W pracy analizowano teoretycznie ogólne informacje dotyczące linii produkcyjnych ich symulacji i równoważenia, a następnie przystąpiono do analizy konkretnego przypadku linii produkcyjnej bluzki. Równocześnie wykorzystując uzyskane dane linia produkcyjna została w pierwszej kolejności zrównoważona metodą Hoffmana będącą jedną z metod heurystycznych. Następnie linia produkcyjna została zrównoważona powtórnie stosując program symulacyjny Arena i wyniki które należą do dwóch rożnych linii produkcyjnych. Celem badania było stworzenie linii produkcyjnej, która posiadałaby najwyższą efektywność przy stosowaniu optymalnej liczby maszyn i operacji, jak również podkreślenie stosowania metody Hoffmana dla linii produkcyjnych produkujących odzież.

    In this article, general information related to efficiency, assembly lines and simulation are primarily reviewed. previous studies on assembly line balancing are theoretically analysed. Thereafter two different assembly lines are designed to produce jean trousers. In one assembly line - manual machines and in another automats are used for seven selected operations. These assembly lines are modelled by the Promodel Simulation Program and the assembly line balancing problem is applied. The aim of the study is to establish which assembly lines have the highest line performance and to research the effects of using automat in assembly lines on production volume and efficiency. The simulation method formerly informs investors about the consequences of their investment in the decision making process for technology investments. The study concludes that automat usage on an assembly line increases the production volume and affects the fficiency of assembly line positively.
    W artykule podano ogólne informacje dotyczące wydajności linii produkcyjnych i ich symulacji. Teoretycznie analizowano dotychczasowe studia w równoważeniu linii produkcyjnych. Następnie zaprojektowano dwie różne linie produkcyjne dla wytwarzania spodni dżinsowych. W jednej z linii produkcyjnych zastosowano ręcznie sterowane maszyny, a w drugiej automaty dla siedmiu wybranych operacji. Wykonano modele obydwu linii produkcyjnych przy zastosowaniu programu Promodel Simulation Program, po czym badano problem równoważenia obydwu linii. Celem badań było określenie, która z linii produkcyjnych ma najwyższą zdolność wytwarzania i stwierdzenie czy zastosowanie automatów linii produkcyjnej ma wpływ na ilość realizowanej produkcji i efektywność. Metoda symulacji może informować inwestorów o konsekwencji ich decyzji inwestycyjnych. Przeprowadzone badania skłaniają do wniosku, że zastosowanie automatu w rozpatrywanej linii produkcyjnej zwiększa wielkość produkcji i wpływa pozytywnie na wydajność linii produkcyjnej.

    This paper presents a heuristic procedure for assigning assembly tasks to workstations where both productivity and ergonomics issues are considered concurrently. The procedure uses Kilbridge and Wester’s algorithm to obtain an initial task–workstation assignment solution which minimizes the balance delay of an assembly line. A task reassignment algorithm was applied to improve the initial solution by exchanging assembly tasks, which smooth postural load among workers, between workstations. A composite index of variation was used to measure the effectiveness of the task–workstation assignment solution. On the basis of clothes assembling, it was found that the task–workstation assignment solution with a minimum composite index of variation can be obtained with relatively equal weights in balance delay and postural load.

    Opis:
    The problem of assembly line balancing is extremely important for apparel companies. It indicates the necessity of a well-balanced assembly line since the process of the production of clothes is complicated and it consists of many processes. A well-balanced assembly line enables to produce a product in an optimum time, as a result of which it allows to use fewer machines as well as less material and labour during this production. In this article, studies performed on assembly line balancing were theoretically analysed, and then a time study of T-shirt production with respect to assembly line balancing was performed and data needed for assembly line balancing acquired. In parallel to these data obtained, firstly assembly line balancing was applied using 5 different heuristic methods, and then the assembly line was balanced using the classical method. The results of the solutions for the assembly line are compared. The aim of this study was to establish the assembly lines which have the highest line efficiency and to research the applicability of the methods examined in readyto-wear assembly lines.
    Problem równoważenia linii produkcyjnych jest niezwykle ważny dla odzieżowych zakładów produkcyjnych. Istnieje potrzeba balansowania linii produkcyjnej ponieważ produkcja odzieży jest bardzo skomplikowana i składa się z wielu procesów. Dobrze zrównoważona linia produkcyjna pozwala zrealizować produkt w optymalnym czasie przy zastosowaniu mniejszej ilości maszyn, mniejszej ilości materiałów oraz mniejszego nakładu pracy podczas produkcji. W artykule przeanalizowano proces teoretycznie, a następnie przeprowadzono analizę produkcji podkoszulek. Celem badania było ustawienie linii produkcyjnej o najwyższej wydajności i zbadanie możliwości zastosowania przedstawionej metody do produkcji gotowej odzieży.

    This study primarily includes theoretical information on the performance and lost productive time of a firm. Furthermore t-shirt sewing operations of a garment firm were analysed and time measurement for each operation was carried out by the time keeping method. By considering the measurements obtained, different performance estimations, the firm’s lost productive time rates, and the standard time was calculated within 5 different scenarios. According to each sewing standard time obtained, the assembly line balancing practice was carried out using the Hoffman method. Later on results of the assembly line balancing were compared, and the importance of employee performance assessment and its lost productive time rates for firms were discussed. The aim of the study was to emphasize the value of impeccable determination of the employee performance assessment and lost productive time rates. Consequently garment firms will be more cautious in calculating the standard time and will be able to reach their production target within the accurate measurement they obtain.
    W artykule przedstawiono przede wszystkim teoretyczne informacje o ocenie wydajności pracowników i utracie czasu produkcyjnego w przemyśle odzieżowym. Przeprowadzono analizę szycia koszulek dokonując pomiaru czasu dla każdej operacji. Na podstawie analizy otrzymanych wyników określono 5 różnych scenariuszy. Zrównoważenia linii produkcyjnej dokonano przy użyciu metody Hoffmana. Następnie porównano wyniki i omówiono znaczenie oceny wydajności pracowników i utraty czasu produkcyjnego. Zaprezentowana analiza może posłużyć firmom odzieżowym w skutecznym zaplanowaniu czasu produkcji i przyczynić się do terminowej realizacji zamówień, co pozwoli uniknąć dodatkowych kosztów spowodowanych opóźnieniem.
