Opis:: W artykule opisano wybrane wydarzenia z historii sztuki, które doprowadziły artystów do instalacji jako środka wyrazu artystycznego. W odpowiedzi na postawione w tytule pytanie przytoczono obserwacje, które autorka poczyniła podczas wizyty w ramach programu Erasmus, w Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Tournai. Uzasadniano celowość wykonywania instalacji podczas programu nauczania. Nawiązano do pierwotnych źródeł tworzenia sztuki, które pozostają niezmienne, bez względu na użyte środki. Instalacja jest szeroko stosowanym przez współczesnych artystów sposobem wypowiedzi. Istnieje w realnej przestrzeni, co jest niezwykle ważne w zdominowanej przez Internet rzeczywistości.
This article describes selected events in the history of art that led artists to installations as a means of artistic expression. In response to the question in the title, the author refers to the observations she had made participating in the Erasmus program at the Academy of Fine Arts in Tournai. She justifies the purpose of creating the installation during the educational process. She refers to the original sources of art creation that remain unchanged, regardless of the means used. Installation is a widely used way of expression by modern artists. It exists in a real space, which is extremely important in a reality dominated by the Internet.

Opis:: Artykuł dotyczy awangardy rosyjskiej, której początków należy szukać w pierwszych latach XX wieku. Założenia artystyczne awangardy ewoluowały pod wpływem wydarzeń z lat 1914 – 1918, zwłaszcza rewolucji rosyjskich, wojny domowej i wojny z Polską. W latach rewolucji i w trakcie wojny domowej wielu lewicowych artystów włączyło się w zarządzanie instytucjami artystycznymi w bolszewickiej Rosji. Zarazem ich twórczość coraz częściej stawała się narzędziem komunistycznej propagandy. Kres awangardzie w sensie artystycznym przyniosło zadekretowanie realizmu socjalistycznego w sztuce, literaturze i filmie.
This article deals with the Russian avant-garde, whose origins must be sought in the early years of the twentieth century. Ideas of the avant-garde art evolved under the influence of the First World War, the Russian revolutions, the Civil War and the Polish-Bolshevik War of 1920. Between the years 1917-1918 and during the Civil War many left-wing artists joined the management effort of artistic institutions in Soviet Russia. At the same time their work became more and more a tool of communist propaganda. The decree on socialist realism in art, literature and film brought the end to the artistic avant-garde.

Opis:: Odejście od klasycznych kanonów estetyki spowodowało, że sztuka, a w konsekwencji także architektura kierują się innymi niż dotychczas zasadami. Niezależnie od istnienia różnych tendencji w sztuce wyraźnie wyróżniają się dwa nurty: organiczny i geometryczny. Wskutek tego zjawiska architektura oscyluje pomiędzy tymi dwoma wpływami. To one powodują, że sztuka abstrakcyjna w różnych aspektach odnajduje swoją interpretację w języku formy architektonicznej. Warta podkreślenia jest także znaczna rola ekspresjonizmu na tle stale przekształcającej się architektury.
Resignation of the classical canons of aesthetics caused that art and thereby architecture follow the new rules. Independently of the different existing trends in art, two mainstreams are featured clearly: the organic and the geometrical. It is the reason why architecture oscillates between both of the inﬂ uences. Because of those inﬂ uences, abstract art found its interpretation in the architectural form. It is also worth emphasing the important role of expressionism against the background of changeable architecture.

Opis:: The paper is devoted to the 19th century conceptions of the relation between the individual and the society and their influence on art. It will be discussed on the example of Ernest Renan and Hippolyte Taine. Close analysis and explication of these two philosophies will show that the influence is, in fact, always two-way: an individual takes inspiration from the prevailing world-view and at the same time can co-form it. As a result of a comparative study of art and philosophy, further perspectives for the research on the influence of the “intellectual climate” on the art of the early 20th century will be drawn.
