    The article attempts to outline selected issues and aspects of group therapy for subjects with aphasia. The author is a speech‑language therapist working with aphasic inpatients, and as such draws on his clinical experience. The introduction discusses aphasia in general, particularly the related terminology and epidemiology. The focus of the subsequent part is on group speech therapy for adults with aphasia. One key point here is a comparative analysis of the main opportunities and challenges which this form of therapy may carry, depending on the type of group in question. The comparison is accompanied by the author’s remarks on some of the assumptions made. The following section of the paper presents and elaborates on four proposals for therapeutic group sessions, all of which have already been implemented in his clinical practice. The conclusion briefly summarises the key findings as well as brings a handful of final reflections on the topic discussed.

    Artykuł podejmuje problematykę terapii pacjentów z afazją – zaburzeniem dotyczącym ekspresji i/lub recepcji mowy. We wprowadzeniu zdefiniowano pojęcie afazji oraz zaburzeń rozwoju językowego. Następnie omówiono warunki diagnozy, podkreślając wagę interdyscyplinarnej współpracy w tym procesie oraz jego znaczenie dla wyboru właściwych form oddziaływań terapeutycznych. Kolejną część artykułu stanowi omówienie metod terapii stosowanych w afazji, w tym alternatywnych i wspomagających metod komunikacji (AAC), a także refleksja na temat specjalistycznych kwalifikacji niezbędnych do realizacji celów terapeutycznych wraz z próbą ich sformułowania.
    The article deals with the treatment of patients with aphasia – a disorder of speech expression and/or reception. The introduction defines the concept of aphasia and language development disorders. Then, the conditions of diagnosis have been discussed, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary cooperation in the process and its importance for the selection of appropriate forms of therapeutic interaction. The next part of the article is a review of therapeutic methods in aphasia treatment with a reflection on specialist qualifications necessary to achieve therapeutic goals (as well as an attempt to formulate them), including alternative and augmentative communication methods (AAC).

    The subject of this article is the specificity of acquired apraxia of speech and the inclusion and exclusion criteria for diagnosing this type of disorder. The article draws attention to the distinction between apraxia of speech and aphasia or dysarthria with which it very often coexists. It describes the process of diagnosing it, which should include the assessment of the consistency of an utterance, its accuracy and fluency, and therefore the degree of adequacy of repeated statements, differentiation of errors (phonetic, phonological) that accompany it, and speech fluency. The article also discusses the tools for studying apraxia of speech currently existing worldwide, including hierarchical word lists and scales for its assessment.

    The present paper discusses application of telerehabilitation services in speech therapy management in aphasic adults. The author presents theoretical issues related to the specifics of therapeutic effects of at a distance approach and indicates its recipients, focusing on neurological patients with language difficulties.     Tematem artykułu jest relacja między afazją a traumą w odniesieniu do twórczości polskiego pisarza Leo Lipskiego. W pierwszej, teoretycznej części artykułu za punkt wyjścia posłużyło studium izraelskiej badaczki Ilit Ferber, dowodzące wyraźnych analogii między Freudowskim opisem afazji, w pewnym stopniu zgodnym ze współczesnymi ujęciami afazji w medycynie, i później wprowadzoną przezeń definicją traumy. W drugiej, analitycznej części artykułu przedmiotem zainteresowań jest natomiast to, w jaki sposób zaburzenia afatyczne Lipskiego przejawiają się w tekście i jak są w nim tematyzowane. Wspierając się na teoretycznych założeniach, autorka stawia tezę, że choć nie sposób postawić znaku równości między afazją a traumą, to jednak trzeba zwrócić uwagę na strukturalne podobieństwo przejawiania się i jednej, i drugiej w tekście. Prowadzi ją to do wyodrębnienia trzech właściwości prozy Lipskiego, charakterystycznych zarówno dla afazji, jak i traumy, i zarazem stanowiących o specyfice prozy tego pisarza. Określa je kolejno mianami: a) perseweracji, b) przesunięcia języka c) zblokowania języka, a następnie opisuje każdą z nich w odniesieniu do wybranych fragmentów prozy Lipskiego.
    The article deals with the similarities between aphasia and trauma with reference to the work of Polish writer, Leo Lipski. In the first, theoretical part the author refers to Israeli scholar Ilit Ferber’s argument proving the existence of clear analogies between Freud’s description of aphasia (to some extent consistent with the contemporary approaches in medicine) and his definition of trauma, which was introduced later. In the second, analytical part of the article the author tackles the problem how Lipski’s aphasic disorders are reflected in the formal structure of his texts and how they became a subject of his fiction. With the foregoing theoretical assumptions, the author argues that while there is no equality between aphasia and trauma, one can find structural similarities in depicting both the latter as well as the former in the text. And so three characteristics of Lipski’s work, determining its uniqueness, have been distinguished, all being specific to both aphasia and trauma. The author refers to them as a) the perseveration, b) the misalignment of language, and c) the blockings of language, and subsequently describes each of them based on the examples of Lipski’s texts.

    W artykule przedstawiono propozycję metodologii badania czynności rozumienia wypowiedzi mówionych i pisanych przez osoby, u których w wyniku ogniskowych uszkodzeń mózgu w obrę-bie obszaru mowy (zwykle środkowej części lewej półkuli u osób praworęcznych) wystąpiła afazja. Problem rozumienia w logopedii jest kategorią wciąż mało poznaną, pojawia się zatem potrzeba zbadania tej czynności przy użyciu ustrukturalizowanego narzędzia badawczego. Zaproponowana metodologia, odwołując się do doświadczeń glottodydaktyki, która wyodrębnia cztery poziomy ro-zumienia tekstu: globalny, selektywny, szczegółowy i interakcyjny, pozwala na określenie stopnia zaburzeń rozumienia tekstu na poszczególnych jego poziomach. Dopełnieniem wyników pozyska-nych na podstawie badania tekstów mówionych i pisanych (w kontekście i poza kontekstem) jest ocena rozumienia poszczególnych struktur językowych o różnym poziomie złożoności gramatycz-nej (strona bierna, inwersja składniowa, zdania z podwójnym przeczeniem, związki rządu, struktury porównawcze, wyrażenia przyimkowe) – zarówno w tekstach mówionych, jak i pisanych.
    The article presents a proposal for methodology to study of understanding spoken and writ-ten statements by people who have developed aphasia as a result of focal brain damage within the speech area (usually the middle part of the left hemisphere in right-handed people). The problem of understanding in speech therapy is a category that is still not well known, so there is a need to investigate this activity on the basis of a structured research tool. The proposed methodology, referring to the experience of glottodidactics, which distinguishes four levels of understanding of the text: global, selective, detailed and interactive, allows to determine the degree of dysfunction in the understanding of the text at its different levels. The results obtained from the study of oral and written texts (in and out of context) are complemented by the assessment of understanding of individual language structures of varying levels of grammatical complexity (passive side, syntactic inversion, sentences with double negation, government relations, comparative expressions, prepositional expressions) – both in oral and written texts.
