    Artykuł stanowi wprowadzenie do tomu „Przeglądu Socjologii Jakościowej” poświęconego socjologii i antropologii w ich wzajemnych relacjach. Obie dziedziny zostały w nim opisane jako systemy komunikacyjne w perspektywie teorii Niklasa Luhmanna, by za pomocą przywołanej w ten sposób pojęciowości oraz mechaniki procesów systemowych ująć w perspektywie diachronicznej problem granic obu dziedzin. Autorki pokazują na przykładach tekstów konstytutywnych dla socjologii i antropologii, jak wyróżnicowywały się one, domykały i zaznaczały swoje granice, by później – głównie ze względu na zwielokrotnione i niejednorodne odniesienia do środowiska – nie być w stanie ich utrzymać.

    Joanna Bator as a scholarship winner of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and the Japan Foundation visited Tokyo three times. Published in 2004 (reprint 2011), L’éventail japonais (ang. The Japanese Fan) is the result of Bators Asian travels. L’éventail japonais is a personal and subjective recording of the experience of cultural otherness that feels an European, Polish writer while working as a lecturer at the University of Tokyo. In this book, Joanna Bator use an original creative technique she calls: zuihitsu, ie “as the brush guides.” The book therefore constituted a sort of collection or set of travel pictures which emerge an image of Japan.The sentimental threads presents in the book serve as a pretext for further discussion concerning anthropological problems and constitute a record of experience of Ego Cogito in the foreign cultural system of signs.

    Artykuł jest próbą spojrzenia na polski humanizm renesansowy jako umiarkowany i samodzielny projekt modernizacyjny, w jego negocjacyjnych odniesieniach do tradycji antropologicznej, odmian mitu wieku złotego, zagadnień języka, a także dokonującej się wówczas rekonfiguracji mapy świata – z uwzględnieniem tego, co z oferty europejskiej nie zostało zasadniczo podjęte (np. melancholia generosa), jak również tego, na co został położony szczególny nacisk. W tej ostatniej sprawie mowa przede wszystkim o emancypacyjnym dążeniu do wyraźnego zaznaczenia tożsamości i specyfiki regionu Europy Wschodniej.
    This article is an attempt to take Polish renaissance humanism as a moderate and independent modernisation project, including its references to the anthropological tradition, the variants of  the myth of the golden age, the issues of language, as well as to the reconfiguration of the map of the world that was being carried out at that time. This paper also remarks on those important motifs of humanism that were not taken up (e.g. the concept of melancholia generosa) and those matters that were especially stressed by Polish authors, primarily, the emancipatory struggle to assert the identity and special character of Eastern Europe.

    Na gruncie nauk społeczno-ekonomicznych pojęcie kultura jest jednym z terminów o największym zakresie znaczeniowym. Pojęcie to jest wieloznaczne i niejasne ze względu na fakt stosowania go na gruncie wielu nauk i orientacji badawczych. Ponad-to, w wyniku rozwoju nauki, zakres znaczeniowy tego terminu był wielokrotnie zmieniany i częstokroć ulegał on rozszerzeniu o nowe zjawiska. Artykuł ma na celu syntetyczne uporządkowanie naukowego rozumienia pojęcia kultura oraz wskazanie najważniejszych cech zjawisk wchodzących w jego zakres. Podjęta w nim została również próba wskazania wspólnej dla nauk społeczno-ekonomicznych płaszczyzny rozumienia tego terminu.
    In the field of socio-economic sciences one of the terms with the wildest scope of senses is the notion of culture. This term seems to be ambiguous and unclear because of multiple uses in many sciences and scientific approaches. Moreover, the semantic range of culture has been changed over the years while new aspects of this phenomenon have been discovered. Synthetic arrangement of scientific meanings of culture and presentation of the most significant features of this notion are the main aims of this article, which also included the trial to point out the common field of culture used in the socio-economic sciences.

    Artykuł przedstawia propozycję badań „świata w ruchu”, którą autor nazywa nomadologią pretekstową. Diagnoza zmienności wszelkich form kulturowych oraz nomadyczna wędrówka wartości z nimi związanych, w połączeniu z nadmiarowością potencjalnej wiedzy o świecie (logorea „słowoobrazów”), zmusza dzisiaj badaczy do przyjęcia strategii opisu świata, która jest w stanie tę zmienność uchwycić. Nomadyzm jako cecha współczesności ma wiele oblicz. Autor opowiada się za jedną z jego wersji, wskazując, w jaki sposób antropologia, literatura i fenomenologia mogą stanowić podstawowe i połączone sposoby wglądu w tę rzeczywistość. Pisanie nomadyczne polega na tym, że nie mamy w nim do czynienia z trafnymi i nietrafnymi interpretacjami, ale sama interpretacja zmienia naturę, stając się sztuką oceny, sztuką myślenia, jest rozgałęzieniem tekstu na zewnątrz - ku światu w ruchu.
    The paper presents a project of studying “the world in motion,” which the author calls pretext nomadology. The diagnosis of the diverse changes of cultural forms and the nomadic journeys of the values connected with them, in addition to the surplus of potential knowledge about the world (logorrhea of words and images), forces modern scholars to adopt a strategy of describing the world that will enable to capture these changes. As a characteristic of modernity, nomadism has many faces. The author focuses on one of its versions, showing how anthropology, literature and phenomenology can become basic and interconnected ways of exploring this reality. The idea of nomadic writing is based on the notion that there are neither correct nor incorrect interpretations, but that the act of interpretation changes nature and becomes an art of evaluation, and art of thinking, an expansion of the text to the outside - to the world in motion.

    Many anthropologists have their share in precursory ideas important for the development of Performance Studies. This article aims to present three main categories of anthropological contribution to the abovementioned field: debate, practice, and concepts. Although the meeting between Theatre and Anthropology in terms of a theory was late, the first signs of their collision can be found in ancient philosophy and literature topos Theatrum Mundi. In early Anthropology, we have the analysis of religion which takes into account relation between ritual and theatre. This analysis started a long debate and contributed to the theoretical basis of Performance Studies. In terms of research methods, both fields discussed prefer to rely on experience gained through fieldwork (Anthropology) and participation in the creative process (Performance Studies). This type of approach refers us to the participant observation, in which the scholar in his physical and mental self is forced to play various “roles”. Apart from its key role in the debate and equally important contribution to research practice Anthropology has a significant share in creating a theoretical basis of Performance Studies. The two most important concepts here are a cultural spectacle and social drama. The expression pre-performative used in this paper aims at emphasizing that the history and ubiquity of the performative aspect of cultural and social activities are vast and performative actions existed long before they started to be part of anthropological analyzes or became a ground on which new branch of social science started to grow.
    Wśród prekursorskich myśli istotnych dla studiów performatywnych znajduje się dorobek wielu antropologów. Centralnym celem tego artykułu jest zaprezentowanie trzech głównych kategorii antropologicznego wkładu do tej dziedziny. Przedstawieniu kolejno podlegać będą: debata, praktyka i koncepcje. Chociaż spotkanie między teatrem a antropologią w wymiarze teoretycznym było późne, to pierwsza refleksja o takim charakterze wiązana być może z pojawieniem się toposu teatrum mundi w starożytnej filozofii i literaturze. Wczesna antropologia podjęła się analiz religii, uwzględniając kwestię relacji rytuału i teatru, co rozpoczęło jedną z najdłuższych debat, stanowiącą teoretyczne podłoże studiów performatywnych. Obie dziedziny preferują w swojej metodzie doświadczenie, pochodzące z badań terenowych lub partycypacji w procesie twórczym. Takie ujęcie odsyła nas do obserwacji uczestniczącej, w której to etnograf w swej cielesno-intelektualnej rozciągłości zmuszony jest do odgrywania różnych „ról’’. Antropologia, co oczywiste, oprócz kluczowej debaty i nie mniej ważnej praktyki badawczej odznacza się istotnym teoretycznym wkładem do studiów performatywnych, który omówiony zostanie na podstawie dwóch koncepcji: widowiska kulturowego i dramatu społecznego. W tym sensie wyrażenie pre-performatywny nie usiłuje zaprzeczyć odwieczności i wszechobecności performatywnego aspektu kulturowo-społecznych działań, a raczej wskazuje na czas, w którym – po pierwsze – nie stanowił on sformułowanego i wyjściowego elementu dla podejmowanych analiz antropologicznych i – po drugie – nie przyczynił się do powołania odpowiednich katedr.

    Three collections of photographs depicting ethnographical research are subject of analysis. The author uses them to show differences between local and foreign patterns of working in the field. The significant role of wandering is stressed as a unique property of ethnographers’ work. Another factor strongly influencing this professional group’s habitus is class distinction, typical for bourgeois circles. It is said to affect the way the subjects of research are usually treated. Also, the author muses over the relationship of photography as a medium and a peculiar act of collecting and gathering, so typical for ethnography.

    Sister Agnieszka is a Carmelite nun, who came to Iceland in 1984 together with few other nuns from Poland to create the one and only Catholic monastery on the Protestant island. In her account sister Agnieszka tells the details about the circumstances of her arrival to somehow "exotic” Iceland and her everyday life in the monastery in Hafnarfjoróur on the background of the changing mentality of the inhabitants of the island. She gives a lot of attention to the large group of Polish migrants who came to Iceland during last two decades mostly to work in the fish industry and the Icelandic and Protestant surroundings of the monastery. Sister Agnieszka repeatedly emphasizes the great friendliness and goodwill that sister get from the Icelanders.
