- Air transport is the safest form of long distance travel and one of the fastest. This is evidenced by the number of passengers who decided to use the services of airlines - 4.4 billion people in 2018. Flying is safe and data from IATA suggests that it will be even safer. Passenger and cargo transport with the help of airlines are gaining popularity every year. However, they will not dominate the freight market. It is still one of the most expensive due to the required speed and fuel consumption as well as the most limited due to the size and weight of transported goods among the available means. In addition, regulations limit what can and cannot be transported by air, and what goods can be transported by it. Travel in specific atmospheric conditions together with the size limitations of transported goods and high prices (despite the fact that they are constantly falling) of air transport influence the relatively low share of this type of transport in cargo transport. At the same time, the above-mentioned restrictions do not affect passenger transport.
