Opis:
Streszczenie Jednym z narzędzi marketingowych o dużej skali zasięgu jest reklama telewizyjna. Celem artykułu jest analiza oddziaływania i postrzegania reklamy telewizyjnej przez młodych konsumentów. Materiał i metody Będące podstawą niniejszego opracowania badania zostały przeprowadzone grupie 1224 młodych konsumentów w wieku 9–12 lat na terenie miasta Biała Podlaska, w okresie grudzień 2019–styczeń 2020.

Opis:
Product placement is an example of a popular form of advertising characteristic for the Polish TV shows. Film and TV writers in Poland are keen on using this method also in TV shows. As product placement has got a strong influence on the audience, the viewers perceive the film reality as the reflection of real life. TV series fiction in turn influences the consumerist preferences of the adresses. The strategy of product placement in the Polish TV series, however, still leaves much to be desired as directors find it difficult to apply the method to suitable scenes in a subtle way. It happens that the product being placed remains onscreen for too long, the number of the products per single episode is too high and the dialogues aimed at highlighting the advantages of given products seem too artificial. All those actions have a negative result on the final decision of the viewers on whether to buy the advertised goods or not.

Opis:
The aim of the article is to examine the portrayals of mature adults (55+) in television commercials in Poland and in the United States. It is important to analyze the portrayal of this group as, on the one hand, they are a lucrative and growing consumer market, however, on the other hand, past studies have shown that this segment has been often stereotyped and underrepresented. It is hypothesized that due to clear differences in the value systems and socio-economic characteristics of both countries, the representation of the mature segment of consumers will differ significantly in terms of their overall portrayal. A purposive sample of 15 Polish commercials and 15 U.S. commercials was selected since the researchers wished to focus on particular portrayals rather than analyze a large sample of commercials. The method was a comparative content analysis. Each commercial was examined particularly for the social context, the activities performed by the individuals, gender representation, health status, race, image, role and product/service type. The findings showed that older people play various roles, however, cultural values and differences were evident in the commercials placed in both countries. This could be seen in the content and focus of the ads.

Opis:
Food and drinks high in fat, sugar and salt (HFSS), high-calorie meals and sedentary lifestyle are the main factors contributing to the emergence of overweight and obesity. A significant role in the promotion of unhealthy foods is played by contemporary media. Objective. The aim of the study was a quantitative analysis of all the advertisements broadcast on television stations regarding the promotion of food products. Materials and methods. The study included three television stations: Telewizja Polska SA – TVP1, Polsat and Cartoon Network. Advertisements were classified according to destination due to age and structure of advertising for children. Advertising for children was defined as that displayed before, during and after TV programmes targeted at children from aged 1–12 years, while adult ads were included in the rest of TV programmes targeted at older viewers. Results. The average commercials time aimed at children is from 41 minutes 11 seconds per day on the Cartoon Network channel, to even 1 h 53 minutes 17 seconds on channel TVP 1. On TVP1, the advertising time was almost identical for children and adults, while on Polsat television, the advertising time for adults was twice as long than that for the children. On TV1, food advertising accounted for 22% of all advertising directed at children. In Polsat advertising food products targeted at children accounted for 35% of all advertisements directed to children. Public television (TVP1) time for advertising food spots attained, respectively: for children 24 min 42 sec and for adults 28 min 15 sec, while POLSAT attained: for children 24 min 41 sec and for adults 57 min 55 sec. Conclusions. A worrying phenomenon is the similar time of advertising broadcast by commercial and by public television – nearly five hours of advertising a day. The advertising structure for children does not differ from the structure of advertising for adults. For some television stations, it happens that up to half of all advertising directed at children concerns food products.

Opis:
The goal of this study is to evaluate the relationship between the time spent in front of a computer or TV and eating habits in kindergarten children. The study was conducted in May and September 2012 in two kindergartens in Krakow (n=61) and in a kindergarten in Podłęże, a village near Krakow (n=34). The average age of the studied children was 5.02±1.17. 40 parents of boys and 55 parents of girls took part in the study. The differences in responses related to gender and place of living were checked. The analyses of correlations among particular factors, including BMI, were conducted by means of the Spearman rank. Most of the kindergarten children (60%) spent an hour or less in front of TV. No relation between the time spent in front of TV or computer and gender or place of living or BMI interpretation was noticed. The time devoted to watching TV was connected with the frequency of snacks and fast-food consumption. The higher the education of mothers the less frequently children eat in front of TV. The frequency of sweetened beverages was also linked with the time spent in front of a computer. The relation between time spent in front of TV or computer and frequency of high energy food consumption among children was confirmed in the study. An effort should be made to educate parents about probable increased risk of children’s obesity connected with watching media
