Sergej Vojcehovskij - Opis:
- “A Russified Enemy of Poland with a Beautiful Polish Name”. Sergej Vojcehovskij and his Episodes: The article presents the now-forgotten figure of Sergej Vojcehovskij (1900–1984), an important figure in the social and literary life of the Russian diaspora in interwar Warsaw. As a declared monarchist, an implacable enemy of the Bolsheviks and the Soviet Union, Vojcehovskij devoted his life to fighting the communists and helping Russian emigrants. He was active in many émigré organisations, primarily in the Russian Social Committee (Rosyjski Komitet Społeczny, 1931–1944). As its head, he represented the interests of the Russian diaspora before the authorities of the Second Polish Republic and then the Third Reich. The dark side of his activity was a collaboration with Nazi Germany, with whom Vojcehovskij cooperated, counting on their help in overthrowing Stalin. The article’s main aim is to analyse Vojcehovskij’s memories (The Episodes, 1978). Their composition, structure, the principle of selection of life material, the method of self-presentation of the creator and genological heterogeneity are discussed. Vojcehovskij’s monarchist views influenced all these aspects of his memoirs.
