Military History Bureau - Opis:
- Otton Laskowski (1892–1953) is one of the military historians who, despite a low military rank and academic degree, are important figures of the history of historiography. Laskowski’s position is a result of his activities in different fields: creation of Polish military language, research and edition of sources, studies of the medieval and Old Polish military strategy, as well as organisational work. His first interest resulted in his participation in the discussion on the creation of military terminology in independent Poland. His second – in outlining the structure of the military history. His translations of French military texts are a seminal body of work. His studies of the history of the military had a considerable, although not always positive, influence on further research of Polish historians. His most notable work is the edition of “Military Encyclopedia”.
