Cechą specyfi czną współczesnej wielokulturowości jest wzajemne przenikanie się i mieszanie kultur, a w ich konsekwencji konstytuowanie się wielu pograniczy kulturowych w obrębie jednej
struktury. Zewnętrzne i wewnętrzne zależności oraz powiązania tej struktury konstruują i konceptualizują jej wewnętrzne przestrzenie, w których odmienności kulturowe pozostają ze sobą w określonym stosunku – najogólniej rzecz ujmując – konfl iktu bądź porozumienia.
Istotne jest więc odniesienie się do kategorii miejsca, pojmowanego jako przestrzeń doświadczania,
którego wielokulturowa specyfi ka z jednej strony istotnie waży na identyfi kacji kulturowej oraz kształtowaniu się tożsamości społeczno-kulturowej jednostek i grup, a z drugiej strony sprzyja powstawaniu praktyk społecznych, których sens i znaczenie ma (wielo)kulturową proweniencję.
Dlatego w odniesieniu do miejsca (pogranicza kultur) ważne jest zwrócenie uwagi na identyfi katory konfl iktu oraz porozumienia, dzięki którym dochodzi do konfl iktu, kompromisu na stykach kultur, a w jego efekcie budowy wspólnoty. Miejscem, w którym pograniczność w sposób ewidentny się uobecnia, jest Wileńszczyzna. Jej etniczno-kulturowa i narodowa pograniczność pozwala na określenie uwarunkowań społeczno-kulturowej identyfi kacji Polaków (jako
mniejszości narodowej), jakości stosunków społecznych na stykach kultur oraz otwartości na odmienne kultury. Dzięki czemu możliwe jest przedstawie nie wielowymiarowej przestrzeni doświadczania oraz przestrzeni porozumienia na wileńskim pograniczu kultur.
A mutual permeation, mixing of cultures and, as a consequence, forming of many cultural borderlands within one structure are features specifi c to the contemporary multiculturalism. Subsequently, external and internal relations and links within such structure construct and conceptualize its inwards areas where cultural diversities remain in a defi ned relationships, i.e. confl ict or agreement. Thus, referring to the category of the place is of key importance, as it entails the domain of experiencing multicultural specifi city, determines the cultural identity, and shapes social and cultural identities of the individuals and groups. Notwithstanding, it contributes to the emergence and coming into existence of public practices, which meaning and sense are of (multi)cultural provenance. Therefore, with reference to the place (borderlands of cultures) it is of paramount importance to concentrate on the identifi cations of confl icts and agreements, thanks to which conflict, or compromise, takes place at the meeting points of cultures, the latter resulting in the establishment of a community. The Vilnius region is a place where such borderland specifi city reveals its features evidently as its ethnic, cultural and national borderland character allows to determine the social and cultural conditions of the Pole’s identifi cation (as a national minority), the qualities of social relations at the meeting points of cultures, and the openness to diff erent cultures. Thanks to the above, it is possible to cast light on the multidimensional area of experience, and the area of the agreement in the Vilnius borderland of cultures. - Źródło:
