Opis:: The radioecological information system on the base of GIS-technologies is offered. The complex analysis of the radioecological situation on the polluted agricultural territories of Ukrainian Polissya was carried out on the base of the Radiation Control System data during 1996-2000 with using information system, which was elaborated. The system allows selecting the critical territories for implementation of countermeasures for reduction of product radionuclides contamination level. The results of the statistical and spatial analysis of the data about product and soil contamination allowed elaborating the schedule of products monitoring.

Opis:: The problem of the western and southern borders of the East European Platform is still subject to debate; different authors variously put this border on the geological maps of Europe. The deepness of the crystalline basement between the T–T zone and the Variscan orogen and within the so-called Scythian Platform makes recognizing the geotectonic structure of the area difficult. There are relatively few and small regions with rocks older than Mesozoic. There is no direct access to Precambrian strata over most of the area. Most structural information is provided by geophysical methods, but they do not allow to date the age of consolidated basement. The paleomagnetic studies of the area give equivocal results. Our analysis of available materials from between the T–T zone and the Variscan orogen and the Scythian Platform suggests that the Precambrian Platform has a larger extent than it was generally assumed. The platform extends westwards even as far as the front of the Variscan orogen, and to the SWand S it may reach the Alpine folded structures.

Opis:: Ukraine has rather big potential of biomass available for energy production. Biomass (excluding the share that is used by other sectors of economy) can cover up to 9% of the total primary energy demand. Technologies of biomass utilization are mostly at the beginning of their development in Ukraine, but they have good prospects for commercialization in the near future. The quality classification is interesting for both small and big consumers. The quality classification is focused to the most important commercial biofuels as briquettes, pellets, wood chips, crushed wooden fuel, wooden logs, sawdust, bark, straw bales. That classification is flexible and thus manufacturer or customer can choose any properties class corresponding with produced or required fuel quality. That free classification does not bind mutually different properties of individual fuels. Its advantage is in fact that manufacturer and customer can agree with a certain characteristics for each simple case. In the paper are presented European examples of specification of properties for briquettes, pellets, straw bales and for classes of high-quality solid biofuels for household. Development of bioenergy technologies would reduce Ukraine dependence on imported energy carriers, enhance its energy security at the expense of organizing energy supply based on local renewable sources, create a lot of new jobs (mostly in rural area), contribute greatly to the improvement of ecological situation.

Opis:: This paper investigates the possible development of Ukrainian agriculture in terms of creation of a free trade area (FTA) with the European Union. Prospects for export-import relations between Ukraine and the EU as well as the competitiveness of domestic agricultural goods in domestic and foreign markets are analyzed. An economic-mathematical model was used for determining negative and positive consequences of the FTA formation for grain, dairy and meat industries. It is expected that the current positive Ukrainian trade balance in agri-food products will decrease significantly as a result of the trade liberalization. The analysis also shows possible changes in the gross domestic product, trade, level of economic activity, human welfare etc. Suggestions how to avoid the negative effects of the FTA on agricultural markets in Ukraine have been developed.

Opis:: Mathematical simulation models of the hydrochemical regime of Velykyi Lyubin pond (Vereshchytsya River basin) and the pond of the Pidhaytsi town (Koropets River basin) have been constructed to clarify the possibilities of using such models in the practice of managing the quality of water resources in small rivers. To evaluate the ecological state of the Vereshchytsya and Koropets river basins – left tributaries of the Dniester – the expedition method was applied, i.e. collecting information on natural conditions and the content of nitrogen compounds (determined directly on-site) as well as Cl– and SO42– ions in water. Information processing was performed by mathematical modelling of the hydrochemical regime of surface waters – calculation models to study the changes in the concentration of biogenic substances and chloride, and sulphate ions in the ponds have been developed. The simulation mathematical models of the hydrochemical regime of surface waters of the ponds were developed for different seasons by a direct construction of the chamber model based on the spatial averaging of the processes and compilation of balance equations. Mathematical models of the change in content of biogenic substances and sulphate, and chloride ions testify to partial purification of waters from pollutants, which is facilitated by the processes taking place within them (sedimentation, sorption–adsorption processes, dissolution).
Opracowano imitacyjne modele matematyczne reżimu hydrochemicznego stawu wielkolubińskiego (dorzecze Wereszczycy) i stawu miasta Podhajcy (dorzecze Koropca) dla wyjaśnienia możliwości wykorzystania takich modeli w praktyce zarządzania jakością zasobów wodnych małych rzeczek. Podczas badania stanu ekologicznego dorzeczy Wereszczycy i Koropca – lewych dopływów Dniestru – wykorzystywano metodę ekspedycyjną – uzyskanie informacji o warunkach środowiskowych, o zawartości związków azotu w wodzie (wyznaczano bezpośrednio na miejscu) i jonów Cl– і SO42–. Obróbka danych odbywała się z wykorzystaniem modelowania matematycznego reżimu hydrochemicznego wód powierzchniowych – tworzenie modeli rozliczeniowych dla badania zmiany koncentracji substancji biogenicznych oraz jonów Cl– і SO42– w badanych obiektach. Imitacyjne modele matematyczne reżimu hydrochemicznego wód powierzchniowych stawów wielkolubińskiego i podhajeckiego w różnych porach roku opracowano na podstawie przestrzennego uśrednienia procesów і układania równań bilansowych. Modele matematyczne zmian zawartości substancji biogenicznych oraz jonów Cl– і SO42– świadczą o częściowym oczyszczaniu wód z zanieczyszczeń, czemu sprzyjają procesy sedymentacyjne, sorpcji–adsorpcji oraz rozpuszczania.

Opis:: A number of global land-use change and forest management models for studying CO2 emissions in land-use change and forestry, in particular: G4M, GLOBIOM, Land- SHIFT, GTM and GCOMAP are considered. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki szczegółowej analizy i oceny transgranicznej współpracy regionów przygranicznych Polski i Ukrainy, w którą zaangażowane są euroregiony. Analiza obejmuje zarówno aspekty teoretyczne, kwestie finansowe współpracy transgranicznej, jak i aspekty społeczno-ekonomiczne rozwoju badanego terytorium. Celem autorów jest porównywanie zasad i tendencji rozwoju terytoriów w polsko-ukraińskich regionach transgranicznych w celu zapewnienia całościowej wizji współpracy transgranicznej między Ukrainą i Polską w ramach Euroregionu Karpackiego i Euroregionu Bug.
