    Opis:
    This article describes the relationship between the global protection system of intangible cultural heritage and practising dance at the regional and local levels. It is analysed on the example of traditional wedding dances from the region of Wielkopolska (Greater Poland), i.e. wiwat, przodek, and chodzony (równy). The aim of this analysis is to study UNESCO’s policy and the consequences of applying the protection system of intangible cultural heritage to traditional dance. The author points out that once the traditional dance is recognised as an element of cultural heritage the process of patrimonialisation starts. Consequently, the dance is incorporated in various socio-cultural processes that affect its meaning, form, and how it is practised. By referring to the concepts of patrimonialisation, intangible cultural heritage, and ‘UNESCOisation’, the text discusses the multi-context functioning and the diversified use of the traditional dances from Wielkopolska from three ethnographic regions: Biskupizna, Szamotuły, and Region Kozła (the Goat Region). The author argues that the varied trajectories in the patrimonialisation of the traditional dance can bring both positive effects (strengthening the local identity, raising the awareness of one’s own cultural heritage and its value) and possible risks (interference of external agencies, internal conflicts, symbolic and practical changes).

Przedstawia ścieżkę dojścia do tego zaszczytnego tytułu, którego osiągnięcie nie byłoby możliwe bez dużego zaangażowania lokalnej społeczności i ścisłej współpracy z władzami gminy Uniejów. Artykuł może stanowić inspirację dla innych gmin do podejmowania działań na rzecz ochrony niezwykle istotnego dziedzictwa niematerialnego.
    This article sums up and presents in chronological order the successive stages in the endeavours of the inhabitants of Spycimierz parish and Uniejów municipality to have Flower carpets tradition for Corpus Christi processions. entered on the  UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The success of these efforts would not have been possible without active engagement of the local community and close cooperation with Uniejów municipality authorities. It can provide an inspiration for other municipalities to take actions aimed at safeguarding of unique cultural heritage.

    Artykuł prezentuje trzy główne etapy historii szopkarstwa krakowskiego. Pierwszy – to etap sprzed instytucjonalizacji, obejmujący najstarsze dzieje szopki krakowskiej. Drugi – to etap instytucjonalizacji, zapoczątkowany zorganizowaniem w 1937 r. pierwszego konkursu na najpiękniejsze szopki krakowskie. Trzeci – to etap UNESCOizacji, zainicjowany wpisaniem szopkarstwa krakowskiego na listę reprezentatywną niematerialnego dziedzictwa kulturowego ludzkości UNESCO w 2018 r.
    The article presents three main stages in the history of the Krakow nativityscene (szopka). First, the stage prior to institutionalization, covering the oldest history of nativity-scene making; second, the stage of institutionalization, initiated by the organization of the first competition for the most beautiful nativity scene in Krakow in 1937; and third, the UNESCO-ization of the nativityscene craft, inaugurated by the inclusion of the Krakow nativity scene (szopka) tradition on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2018.

    This article aims at browsing through items of gastronomic rarities in UNESCO World List of Intangible Cultural Heritage, which might be the reason and the motif to visit particular places in the world. At the same time, it reflects a new trend in topic-related trips, which is obviously culinary tourism. Gastronomic rarities items placed in UNESCO World List of Intangible Cultural Heritage are the examples of world’s culinary cultural heritage. According to the international community, food regarded as gastronomic rarities in UNESCO World List of Intangible Cultural Heritage has a historical value nowadays. It is due to preserving customs and ceremonies which coincide with national culture of nutrition and food consumption.

    Opis:
    Celem artykułu jest analiza doświadczeń afrykańskich w kształtowaniu ochrony prawnej dziedzictwa kulturowego ludów tubylczych jako przykładu rozwiązań regionalnych o większej skuteczności, niż  obowiązujący, tj. zgodny z  reżimem UNESCO  oraz WIPO. W szczególności analizie poddane zostały, z użyciem metody historycznej i prawno-dogmatycznej, istniejące mechanizmy prawa międzynarodowego, oparte o rozwiązania zaczerpnięte z prawa ochrony własności intelektualnej oraz szeroko pojętego prawa do kultury. Podstawowe pytanie, jakie przyświeca podjętym tu rozważaniom odnosi się do kwestii adekwatności takiej kompilacji reżimów prawa międzynarodowego do ochrony niematerialnego dziedzictwa kulturowego i wskazania istotnych luk artykułowanych przez przedstawicieli ludów rdzennych. W badaniach przeprowadzono komparatywną analizę rozwoju legislacji w krajach członkowskich. Pozwala to wysnuć wniosek, iż ARIPO, wprowadzając rozwiązania systemowe oparte o system sui generis miało wpływ na kształtowanie świadomości, jakie jest  znaczenie ochrony szeroko pojętych praw własności intelektualnej dla twórców, dla kultury i gospodarki krajowej, a wiele z zastosowanych rozwiązań może być wskazówką dla innych regionów świata w kształtowaniu adekwatnej i skutecznej ochrony dziedzictwa kulturowego lokalnych społeczności.
    The purpose of this paper is to analyze the African experience in developing legal protection for the cultural heritage of indigenous populations as a more effective solution than the measures relying on the prevailing UNESCO and WIPO paradigm. Historical and doctrinal legal research methodologies are applied to examine, in particular, the existing international law mechanisms adapted from the sphere of intellectual property law and – broadly understood – right to culture. The primary purpose of this paper is to assess the adequacy of protection of intangible cultural heritage afforded in those regimes compilation to the nature of ICH, and to identify the significant gaps that have been raised by indigenous populations representatives themselves. The research includes a comparative analysis of the development of relevant legislation in particular member countries. This analysis leads to a conclusion that ARIPO while introducing sui generis systemic solutions was instrumental to building the awareness of significance of the broadly defined intellectual property rights for the creators, cultures and national economies, and many of its solutions can serve as guidelines for other regions of the world in creating adequate and effective protection systems for the cultural heritage of their local communities.

    This article discusses the use of the concept of social capital in relation to the elements of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) and the need to protect it. At the outset, the author examines theoretical concepts which researchers have employed, in past decades, outside the area of ethnological studies. The article highlights one of the basic principles, that of social capital, which consists in sharing real and potential sources, knowledge, and information, which an individual person or group acquires through relations that may to some degree be characterized as institutional. Based on experiences gathered both in a national context (the Czech Republic) and within that of an international organization (UNESCO), the article attempts to assess the extent to which it is possible to apply the theoretical foundations of the idea of the social capital to ICH, where the principles of the sharing of and mutual respect towards cultural elements are two of the basic premises.
