- Meetings in the Struve Villa 1998 - 2001. Lectures on Cultural Heritage is a collection of 27 texts presented by noted Polish professors of the humanities during a series of monthly meetings held in the Warsaw seat of the Society for the Protection of Historical Monuments. The registered and subsequently authorised lectures pertain primarily to the protection of historical monuments in Poland, the revalorisation of towns, and the condition of Polish conservation services at the end of the twentieth century. Some of the texts discuss particular monuments and assorted problems associated with their preservation (militaria, historical costumes, forgeries, geological monuments), while others deal with archaeology, the history of art and the museums (i.a. the beginnings of architecture in Polish lands, Polish murals from the seventeenth and eighteenth century, the history of the Czartoryski Museum in Cracow). The various themes and the opportunity for becoming acquainted with the individual and colourful style of each of the speakers render this book valuable, interesting and accessible to all lovers of historical monuments.
