    Outliers are sample values that cause surprise in relation to the majority of the sample. This is not a pejorative term; outliers may be correct, but they should always be checked for transcription errors. Many robust and resistant methods have been developed since 1960 to be less sensitive to outliers. This methods can be used instead or be even better than classical one. Robust methods were used early in me works (Trzpiot 2009, 2011a, 2011b) as an application in finance and economy. This article has a descriptive character, connected with new book for students.

    In the article the generalized Lambda-Tukey distribution was presented with the following four parameters of: location, scale, skewness and kurtosis. The distribution presented, due to its high flexibility is widely applied, especially when empirical distributions are sophisticated and do not show desired accordance with known classical theoretical distributions. The examples presented on the fitting of the DAX index distribution to the four parameter Tukey distribution turn out to be better than the ones for the beta distribution.

    Stratified sampling is one of the most common sampling designs in economic surveys of official statistics. Independent sampling in domains is of special interest for practical reasons; for instance, in Polish economic surveys voivodeships constitute the domains, and in many surveys estimation is required for both the whole country and each voivodeship. The objective of the paper is to present two algorithms for stratification in domains, a population under study is subdivided into, orientated towards minimizing a common value of the coefficients of variation of an estimator considered in the domains, subject to fixed sample size from the whole population. An application of the algorithms and their comparison is presented for an artificial population comprising four domains.

    The contribution deals with project teaching of the subject Statistics for Non- -Mathematical Students 1 which is part of the study plan of the Marketing Communication and Advertising Programme (Faculty of Arts, Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, Slovakia) in the first year of Bachelor's studies. Students carried out their initial research, using statistical methods for evaluation of their results. The resulting project should have the form of any article consisting of high-quality verbal and visual part and statistical processing of selected issue.

    In the paper the problem of prediction of a time series is considered. Time series observations can be measured on order scale. On the basis of observed ranks of values of the variables observed in the past periods a forecast of the rank of the observation in the future period is determined. The proposed method results from the derivation of the distribution of the well known Kendall's rank coefficient. The paper was inspired by a lecture of Jean H.P. Paelinck who gave it at the University of Economics in Katowice when he received the title of doctor honoris causa of the University in 1987.

    For quality control it is essential that the control samples are homogeneous. In practice this is impossible, and the requirement can be reduced to the condition that the samples were taken from the same population. The study presented in the paper is an analysis of the issue of testing the quality of the shapeless material. As a shapeless material is referred to the material from which it is impossible to directly extract the individual elements, packages, etc. This paper proposes a method to verify the hypothesis that the tested material is homogeneous due to the observed characteristics.

    В обследовании независимости признаков в многоразделительных таб-лицах самым популярным является статистика χ2 Пирсона. Для много-разделительных таблиц существуют определенные ограничения в области возможностей использования статистики χ2 Пирсона, но во время бы-стро развивающегося компьютерного оборудования можно их отменить определяя критические значения с помощью компьютерного моделирова-ния генерируя содержание многоразделительных таблиц. Целью статьи является предоставление готовой компьютерной имплементации напи-санной в программе VBA (Visual Basic for Applications). Представленная теория касающаяся многоразделительных таблиц и анализ примеров позволят провести тесты независимости с использованием статистики χ2 Пирсона для любого числа объектов в отдельных местах многоразде-лительной таблицы
    W badaniu niezależności cech w tablicach wielodzielczych najbardziej popularną jest statystyka χ2 Pearsona. Dla tablic wielodzielczych istnieją pewne ograniczenia, co do możliwości stosowania statystyki χ2 Pearsona, jednak w dobie szybko rozwijających się komputerów można je znieść wyznaczając wartości krytyczne przy pomocy symulacji komputerowej generując zawartość tablic wielodzielczych. Celem pracy jest dostarczenie czytelnikowi gotowej implementacji komputerowej napisanej w edytorze VBA (Visual Basic for Applications). Lektura przedstawionej teorii dotyczącej tablic wielodzielczych oraz analiza zamieszczonych przykładów pozwoli czytelnikowi na przeprowadzenie testów niezależności z wykorzystaniem statystyki χ2 Pearsona przy dowolnej liczebności obiektów w poszczególnych komórkach tablicy wielodzielczej.
    In the study of the independence of characteristics in the multi-feature tables χ2 Pearson's statistics are the most popular. For multi-feature arrays, there are certain limitations as to the applicability of the χ2 Pearson's statistics, but in an era of rapidly developing computer setting can be abolished with the critical value of computer simulation to generate the contents of multi-feature tables. The aim of the study is to provide the reader with a ready computer implementation, written in VBA editor (Visual Basic for Applications). Reading the presented theory for multi-feature tables and analysis of the examples allow the reader to carry out independent tests using χ2 Pearson's statistics at any number of objects in each multi-feature table cells.

    Целью статьи является обследование прочности связи между местом проживания населения Польши и их главным источником средств на содержание на основе двух последних всеобщих переписей населения проводимых в 2002 г. ив 2011 г. В обследовании был использован критерий незaвисимости хи-квадрат Пирсона и коэффициент V Крамэра для оценки изменения зависимости между местом проживания и главным источником доходов, которая имела место в межпереписный период. Проведенный анализ показал, что разница между городом и деревней в зависимости от источников дохода за 9 лет значительно уменьшилась. Эта точность наблюдается при сопоставлении в обследуемых годах доли населения, которого наемный труд был главным источником средств на содержание, а также доли населения, которого главным источником средств на содержание является самозанятость кроме сельского хозяйства, самозанятость в сельском хозяйстве, частная собственность или работа без зарплаты.
    Celem opracowania jest zbadanie siły związku między miejscem zamieszkania mieszkańców Polski a ich głównym źródłem utrzymania na podstawie dwóch ostatnich spisów powszechnych przeprowadzonych w 2002 r. i 2011 r. W badaniu wykorzystano test niezależności chi-kwadrat Pearsona oraz współczynnik V Cramera do oceny zmiany zależności pomiędzy miejscem zamieszkania a głównym źródłem dochodów, która zaszła w okresie międzyspisowym. Przeprowadzona analiza pokazała, że różnica między miastem i wsią w zależności od źródeł dochodu uległa na przestrzeni dziewięciu lat znacznemu zmniejszeniu. Prawidłowość tę zaobserwowano dokonując porównań między badanymi latami udziałów ludności, której praca najemna była głównym źródłem utrzymania, jak też udziałów ludności, której głównym źródłem utrzymania była praca na własny rachunek poza rolnictwem, praca na własny rachunek w rolnictwie, własność bądź źródła niezarobkowe.
    The aim of the study is to examine the strength of the association between the place of residence of the Polish population and their main source of income on the basis of the last two censuses carried out in 2002 and 2011. The study used Pearson chi-square test of independence and Cramer's V coefficient to assess the relationship between the changes in residence place and the main source of income, which occurred between the two last censuses period. The analysis showed that the difference between urban and rural areas, depending on the source of income has been over nine years significantly reduced. This regularity was observed by comparisons between the study years the shares of the population, which wage labor was the main source of income, as well as the shares of the population, the main source of income was a self-employed outside agriculture, self-employment in agriculture, property or non-commercial sources.
