    This paper attempts to provide a perspective on defining the social economy on social science. It addresses the question of the relevance of a unifying concept with its need to embrace the existing diversity of approaches and concepts. To this end, it surveys both historical and contemporary academic literature, as well as practice-rooted conceptualisations of the social economy. The social economy is presented as a hybrids solution between market and state activity. But this traditional social science "classificatory" approach does not lead to an operational definition of the social economy.

    Last years of XX century and the beginning of XXI century have been the era of public relations. Although this discipline is almost 100 year old, and its roots are in the ancient times, the dynamic development has happened in recent years. Globalisation, new technology, new form of communication, better educated people and the development of free market economy in the global world are conditions which foster expansion of public relations practice. All of above make public relations a crucial subject which should be placed in the scientific field. One of the questions which have been raised in recent times is a question about a PR paradigm. This is why, the main objective of the presented paper is to present some conclusions around scientific quality of public relations. The main assumption of the paper is the Jacquie L'Etang's thesis about few different approaches to PR both in practice and theory. The paper tries to answer the following research questions: 1. How do social sciences participate in the theory of public relations? 2. How does economics participate in the theory of public relations? 3. Does public relations theory exist? The authors of the paper make conclusions referring to the recent literature in this field considering as the methodological basis the PR family tree prepared by Jacquie L'Etang.

    The aim of the publication is to present selected forecasting problems in social sciences. The article focused on the method of decision-making/simulation games that, especially with the development of game theory and computers, have increasingly been used in many fields. Using examples of decision/simulation games - Poznań International Model United Nations 2013/POZiMUN; S.E.N.S.E - and the online game EVE Online, the author recognised the importance of such exercises in an accurate prediction of the future. He drew special attention to the element of chance and confounding factors that may destabilise the process of prediction. He also raised the problem of decision-making in the context of classical and quantum logic.
    Treścią publikacji jest przedstawienie wybranych problemów prognozowania w naukach społecznych. W artykule skoncentrowano się na metodzie gier decyzyjnych/symulacyjnych, które – zwłaszcza wraz z rozwojem teorii gier oraz komputerów – są coraz częściej wykorzystywane w wielu dziedzinach. Na wybranych przykładach gier decyzyjnych/symulacyjnych – Poznań International Model United Nations 2013/POZiMUN; S.E.N.S.E. a także gry sieciowej EVE Online – wskazano jak ważne są takie ćwiczenia, by móc precyzyjniej przewidywać przyszłość. Zwrócono także szczególną uwagę na kwestię przypadku oraz czynników zakłócających, które mogą destabilizować proces przewidywania. Poruszono ponadto problem podejmowania decyzji w aspekcie klasycznej oraz kwantowej logiki.

    Filozofia nauki i filozofia nauk społecznych odegrały i odgrywają nadal znaczącą rolę w formowaniu i rozwoju nauki o stosunkach międzynarodowych. Wpłynęły one na sposoby teoretyzowania przez dyscyplinę jej przedmiotu i rozumienia prawomocności wytwarzanej wiedzy, a także wybory metodologiczne. Często problemy podnoszone przez filozofię nauki są określane jako metateoretyczne. Metateoria bada podstawowe założenia teorii oraz ich wpływ na sposoby teoretyzowania i praktyki badawcze. W NSM zainteresowanie metateorią nabierało szczególnego znaczenia w okresach tak zwanych "wielkich debat" lub "debat paradygmatycznych" toczonych w dyscyplinie. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie roli, jaką metateoria pełniła i pełni w NSM. Kluczowe pytanie dotyczy przyczyn szczególnego zainteresowania metateorią przez badaczy stosunków międzynarodowych. W artykule omawiam także rozumienie teorii i historię metateorii w NSM oraz przedstawiam stanowiska zajmowane w sporze o rolę metateorii w dyscyplinie. (abstrakt oryginalny)
    The philosophy of science and social science has played and continues to play an important role in shaping and informing the development of international relations as a field of study. It has impacted the way in which IR theorises its subject matter, legitimises knowledge and makes methodological choices. Problems raised in the philosophy of science are often described as metatheoretical. Metatheory examines the basic assumptions of theory and the way these influence different theorisations and research practices. Interest in IR metatheory becomes particularly pronounced during periods of 'great debates' or 'paradigmatic debates' within this field of academia. The aim of the article is to explore the role of metatheory in the study of international relations. The key question concerns the reasons why IR scholars are particularly interested in metatheory. I also discuss the IR understanding of theory and the history of IR metatheory, including by presenting different positions within the debate on the role of metatheory in the study of IR.     The article is mostly theoretical and offers a conceptual analysis of the notions of soft power and normative threat. These categories are operationalized within the broader context of institutional change and evolution.
