    Opis:
    The level of socio-economic, demographic processes and phenomena of migration processes are from each other dependent. Demographic processes and migration processes depend on the evolution of social and economic factors of the region, and therefore the main objective of the research was to assess the socio-economic development of Polish regions (provinces) with the use of synthetic measures to enable ranking and grouping investigated regions from the point of view of socio-economic, as well as to investigate whether there are significant links between socio-economic development and migration processes. The period of research was the year 2010. The data came from the Central Statistical Office, the Regional Data Bank.

    Based on the Human Development Report 2013 the author presents clasifica-tion of the countries taking into account HDI value in 2012, non-income HDI and the IHDI (Inequality - Adjusted Human Development Index). IHDI reflects disparities in the income distribution. 187 states of the report are divided into 12 groups by the HDI total value. (original abstract)

    The dynamic development of the sport due to the processes of globalization, commercialization and professionalization has led to an increase its importance for economies of the countries of the European Union. For more accurate description of this phenomenon, it became necessary to construct a new measurement tool. As an initiative of the European Commission in 2006 there was started a work of a Working Group on Sport and Economics. There was developed a detailed definition of sport and the methodology of the measurement what enabled to determine its added value and influence on employment in European Union. Use of new measurement tool on 2006 basis enabled to determined that added value of sports in term of statistical meaning was 28,16 bln EUR, the narrow was 112,18 bln EUR and the broad was 173,87 bln EUR. The percentages of the total number of employees amounted appropriately: 0,31%, 1,49% and 2,12%.

    According to contemporary concepts of regional growth, the most important factors of socio-economic development are the quality of human resources and their ability to cooperate. Especially education and constant skills development are important factors and generators of growth in the regions and the country. The experience of economically developed countries show that the economic successes, the high rank of these countries in the world market and the competitiveness increasingly depend on the level of public knowledge and the ability to create and use technical, economic, information, etc., knowledge in the economic terms. In the process of globalization, the quality of human factor plays larger role and regions take over the role of the state more or less. Among the factors influencing the competitiveness of the regions first of all are: - supply of skilled workpower, - opportunities for learning in the region, - demand for a highly skilled work, - certain number of skilled workers willing to improve their skills, - availability of research centres, - quality of education institutions. The main purpose of this paper is to show the relationship between education and socio-economic growth on the case study of West Pomerania. The article discusses: - contemporary growth factors; - education and related factors: the level of education, the impact of education on human and social capital, innovation and discovery, culture and socio- -economic growth; - education and development: on a case study example of structural changes in Western Pomerania, - conclusions and recommendations.

    The mission of official statistics is to provide credible, reliable, independent and high-quality information on the state and changes in society, the economy and the environment, meet the needs of domestic and foreign users. Fulfillment of this obligation is reflected in the work of the current official statistics and in development activities. Monitoring of the socio-economic development requires continuous adaptation of statistics to the changing reality and the description of the phenomena and processes. The role of official statistics in the modern world goes far beyond the implementation of the research. Measuring sustainable development and information support for development policy are tangible examples of the undertaken challenges. The form and manner of data presentation have increasing importance for the effective transfer of information. To answer the need to improve communication with users, the CSO is implementing new systems of information share. The article describes, among others, "Strateg" and "Knowledge Databases".     Celem artykułu jest krótkie omówienie rodowodu i miejsca ekonomii społecznej w aspekcie rozwoju społeczności lokalnych i, szerzej, regionu. Ekonomia społeczna jest oparta na partycypacji i współpracy, dlatego też w artykule zostanie poruszona kwestia roli i zasad tworzenia partnerstwa zarówno na poziomie lokalnym, jak i regionalnym. Zamierzeniem autorek jest również przedstawienie funkcji ekonomii społecznej w kontekście rozwoju, głównie na poziomie społeczności lokalnych, jak również regionalnych planów wzmacniania społeczności gmin i powiatów Małopolski w zakresie wykorzystania instrumentarium tego sektora.     The article aims at brief description of the beginning and position of social economy in the aspect of local communities and regional development. Social economy is based on participation and co-operation, therefore in the article the question of the role and principles of partnership creation, both on local and regional level, is deeply analysed. The authors intent also to consider the functions of social economy in development context, mainly al the local community level, as well as regional plans of strengthening municipalities and counties of Malopolska region in the scope of the use of instruments operating within the sector.     In this paper we study the role of social factors in development of international trade using a generalized gravity model. In existing studies of determinants of bilateral trade flows only economic factors were taken into account such as their economic size, factor endowments and technology levels as well as tariff and non-tariff barriers and distance between them. Our contribution to the literature lies in extending the previous studies to include also factors measuring the level of development and social inequalities as well as civil liberties. In particular, we study the role of the aggregate index of social development - HDI and its components as well as income inequality and civil liberties.

    In the paper, there were presented reasons for the EU policy in the context of operations financing by the EU budget. There were displayed principles in the field of introduction of a new source of EU income in a form of a tax on financial transactions as well as a simplification in the VAT calculation. The author presented also an assessment of budget changes concerning possibilities of realization of the objectives for the period 2014-2020.

    Development of knowledge-intensive high-technology services in the EU economies were assessed in the paper. There was also presented analysis of relationships between development of the sector and level of GDP p.c. As a result of the research there were made some conclusions stressing both: the role of the high-tech KIS for increase of welfare as well as the influence of inter-sectoral transfer of knowledge.
