    The diary of Gustav Otto Stenbock from the Royal Prussia campaign in autumn 1656 and the account of the battle of Filipów (22.10.1656) are in the Riksarkivet archive in Stockholm. They have not yet been used in the study of the Polish-Swedish War of 1655–1660. In many places, correlating with the relevant fragment of the work of Samuel Pufendorf on the wars of Charles X Gustav, they introduce new details: the chronology of the initial phase of the Stenbock campaign and the composition of the division led by the Lithuanian field marshal Wincenty Gosiewski. In the latter case, it is not certain whether the list concerns the battle of Prostki (8.10.1656) or Filipów. The bases of the edition were copies from the Swedish Microfilms collection at the Central Archives of Historical Records in Warsaw

    Po ataku szwedzkim na Prusy Królewskie w lipcu 1626 r. władze Prus Książęcych, zobowiązane do udzielenia pomocy militarnej Zygmuntowi III, w związku z wysuwanymi w Rzeczypospolitej przeciw nim oskarżeniom o przepuszczenie przez terytorium Księstwa wojsk Gustawa Adolfa wysłały w poselstwie do króla polskiego Wolfa von der Ölsnitza. Poseł towarzyszył monarsze i armii koronnej w czasie kampanii przeciw Szwedom w drugiej połowie 1626 r., był świadkiem największego wydarzenia w jej trakcie – bitwy pod Gniewem (22 września – 1 października). Regularnie sporządzał diariusz, który w częściach przesyłał elektorowi brandenburskiemu Jerzemu Wilhelmowi i nadradcom pruskim. W Geheimes Staatsarchiv Preussischer Kulturbesitz w Berlinie-Dahlem zachowały się trzy fragmenty tegoż diariusza, obejmujące okres od 24 września do 2 listopada 1626 r. Źródło to jest praktycznie nieznane i niewykorzystane przez historyków. Zawiera wiele nowych informacji, które mogą uzupełnić dotychczasowe ustalenia na temat pierwszych miesięcy tzw. „wojny o ujście Wisły”.
    After the Swedish attack on Royal Prussia in July 1626, the authorities of the Duchy of Prussia, in connection with the accusations leveled against them in the Commonwealth for allowing Gustavus Adolf’s troops to pass through the territory of the Duchy and the obligation to provide military assistance to Sigismund III, sent Wolf von der Ölsnitz as an envoy to the Polish king. The envoy accompanied the monarch and the Crown army during the campaign against the Swedes in the second half of 1626 and was present during its most important event – the Battle of Gniew (September 22 – October 1). Ölsnitz regularly compiled diary entries, which he sent in parts to the Elector of Brandenburg, Jerzy Wilhelm, and to the Prussian councilors. Th ree fragments of the diary have been preserved (covering the period from 24 September to 2 November, 1626) and are currently held in the Geheimes Staatsarchiv Preussischer Kulturbesitz in Berlin-Dahlem. Th ese fragments are practically unknown and unused by historians. They contain a lot of new information that can complement the previous research concerning the first months of the socalled „War for the mouth of the Vistula”.
    Nach dem schwedischen Angriff auf Königlich-Preußen im Juli 1626 entsandten die Behörden von Herzoglich-Preußen angesichts der Vorwürfe aus dem Königreich Polen, man würde das Heer von Gustav Adolf durch das Gebiet des Herzogtums ziehen lassen, und auch angesichts ihrer Verpfl ichtung, Sigismund III. militärischen Beistand zu leisten, Wolf von der Ölsnitz als Gesandten zum polnischen König. Der Gesandte begleitete den Monarchen und das Kronheer während des Feldzugs gegen die Schweden in der zweiten Hälft e des Jahres 1626 und wurde Zeuge dessen größten Ereignisses – der Schlacht von Gniew (22. September – 1. Oktober). Er führte regelmäßig ein Tagebuch, das er in Teilen an den Kurfürsten von Brandenburg, Georg Wilhelm, und an die preußischen Hohen Räte schickte. Im Geheimen Staatsarchiv Preußischer Kulturbesitz in Berlin-Dahlem haben sich drei Fragmente dieses Tagebuchs erhalten, die den Zeitraum vom 24. September bis zum 2. November 1626 abdecken. Diese Quelle ist praktisch unbekannt und wird von Historikern nicht genutzt. Sie enthält viele neue Informationen, die die bisherigen Erkenntnisse über die ersten Monate des sogenannten „Weichselmündungskrieges” ergänzen können.

    W artykule opublikowano relację podskarbiego litewskiego i hetmana polnego litewskiego Wincentego Korwina Gosiewskiego z rokowań z elektorem brandenburskim Fryderykiem Wilhelmem przeprowadzonych w Welawie w dniach 17-21 września 1657 roku i podpisaniu traktatu pomiędzy Rzecząpospolitą a Brandenburgią-Prusami. Odpis relacji, dotychczas nie wykorzystywany w badaniach, jest przechowywany w Archiwum Archidiecezji Warmińskiej w Olsztynie.Fragment podobnej relacji (bez podania adresata), lecz sporządzonej w całości w języku łacińskim opublikował Antoni Walewski. We wstępie wskazano na brak opartej na szerokiej kwerendzie archiwalnej monografii poświęconej rokowaniom dyplomatycznym, zakończonym podpisaniem traktatu.
    The article published an account of the Lithuanian Treasurer and Lithuanian Field Hetman Wincenty Korwin Gosiewski on the negotiations with the Elector of Brandenburg, Frederick William, held in Welawa on September 17–21, 1657 and the signing of the treaty between the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and Brandenburg-Prussia. A copy of the account, not yet used in research, is stored in the Archives of the Archdiocese of Warmia in Olsztyn. A fragment of a similar account (without specifying the addressee), but written entirely in Latin, was published by Antoni Walewski. The introduction points to the lack of a monograph based on a wide archival query devoted to diplomatic negotiations, which ended with the treaty’s signing.
