- The aim of this article was to analyze Jorge Sampaio's leader¬ship qualities. Sampaio was the President of Portugal between 1996 and 2006. The foundation of Sampaio's leadership style is conside¬red to have been based on Margaret G. Hermann's theory about leadership (claiming that the background of the leader and his personality are the most important variables in leadership). The article contains some basic information about J. Sampaio's early political experience before becoming the president. Written about also are Sampaio's political convictions, manner of political activity and his motivation to become president.
