This article aims to assess the impact of the Catholic Church on the Polish political system, referring to the case study – forms of the Church's opposition to the implementation of laws on partnerships. In order to achieve this research plans first determined what are the defining trends of the Church in the science of politics. Then they proposed typology of forms of influence of the Church on the political system. Then presented reported in the parliament draft legislation on partnerships and analyzed the arguments and forms of influence of the Church in the process of regulation of the above regulations. Through the concept of the Church is to be understood "the hierarchical Church" rather than the community of the faithful.

The article investigates the persecution of the Catholic Church in the times of Stalinism, when the political power in Poland was largely centralized in the hands of the Communists of Jewish origin, who were sent by Joseph Stalin from Moscow in order to sovietize Poland. The Catholic Church, which had been defending the sovereignty of Poland for centuries, was treated by Com-munists as a greatest enemy of their objectives. The article shows the ruthlessness of the Com-munist regime, whose goal was to weaken the role of the Roman Catholic Church, and to liqui-date its leading institutions, such as the Catholic University of Lublin. It concisely presents main assumptions of the “anticlerical action” which was authorized by Hilary Minc and Jakub Ber-man. The paper contains legal reviews which indicate the illegal behavior of security officers in relation to Catholics, in particular to those of juvenile age. It argues that, with fighting against the Catholicism in Poland, the Communists infringed the law established by themselves. The article is a result of the many months inquiry in several archive institutes in Poland.

The reactivation of the Catholic Action (CA) in Poland, which ended its activity in 1939, would have not been possible without the pre-war structures of this secular Catholic organization. Although the break in the existence of this organization in Poland lasted nearly 60 years, but the old form of activity, program and many of its works encouraged the Polish Church, by the initiative of John Paul II, to revive this entity. This article outlines the ideological basis for the creation of the first Catholic Action in the world. Its main organizational forms are also presented in the article, and at the same time, the similarity between the pre-war structures of CA in Poland and their Italian prototype. The last part of the paper outlines the process of creating pre-war structures of the Catholic Action in Poland, its legal basis and areas of activity. Althaough after the Second Vatican Council, there was another perception of the laity in the world, and its role in the Church increased, but the pre-war Catholic Action became a basis for creating a new organization in Poland. The reactivated Polish CA took on a rather traditional model, preserving the institution of the Church assistant as a secular liaison with the hierarchy of the Church.
Reaktywacja Akcji Katolickiej (AK) w Polsce, która skończyła swoją faktyczną działalność w 1939 r., byłaby mało realna bez przedwojennych struktur tej organizacji zrzeszającej katolików świeckich. Wprawdzie przerwa w istnieniu tej organizacji w Polsce trwała blisko 60 lat, ale dawna forma działalności, program i liczne jej dzieła zachęciły polski Kościół, z inicjatywy Jana Pawła II, do odrodzenia tego podmiotu. W niniejszym artykule ukazano w zarysie podstawy ideologiczne tworzenia pierwszej Akcji Katolickiej na świecie. Zaprezentowano także jej główne formy organizacyjne, przedstawiając równocześnie podobieństwo struktur przedwojennej organizacji katolików świeckich w Polsce do jej włoskiego pierwowzoru. W ostatniej części opracowania zarysowano przebieg tworzenia struktur przedwojennej Akcji Katolickiej w Polsce, podstawy prawne jej funkcjonowania oraz obszary działalności. Wprawdzie na świecie po Soborze Watykańskim II, nastąpiło inne postrzeganie laikatu, a jego rola w Kościele wzrosła, ale przedwojenna Akcja Katolicka stała się w Polsce bazą do tworzenia nowej organizacji. Reaktywowana AK przybrała dosyć tradycyjny model, z zachowaniem instytucji asystenta kościelnego jako łącznika świeckich z hierarchią Kościoła.

In nearly every modern society, patriotism, as a form of love related to one’s homeland, possesses its own specific semantic colours. This is so due to historical and cultural differences between nations. In recent debates about the condition of patriotism in Poland as well as political disputes, patriotism is often mentioned as, alongside with others, a civilian virtue. According to various research on public opinions, patriotism is recognised as one of the most distinctive characteristics of the Poles (beside religiousness and resourcefulness). It is a virtue as well as an attitude which Poles manifest in various ways (from the so-called “football” patriotism to simple daily work solidly done with honesty and diligence for the good of one’s homeland). This paper presents a conception of patriotism from the Catholic Social Teaching viewpoint. This teaching, taking into account both Divine Revelation and past experiences of mankind (the socalled “hermeneutical arch” of Moral Theology, perceives the phenomenon of patriotism in a wider context such as nation, homeland, country and international community). The Church insists on upbringing and education of love towards one’s homeland, while distances its teaching clearly and decisively from racial prejudice and hypernationalism (cf. Ad Gentes, 15).

Following the regaining of independence by Poland, Poznań played an important role in the ecclesial life of the country. It is here that the archbishop of Gniezno and Poznań resided, here was the seat of the General Institute of Catholic Action, and it was here that many religious magazines were published.„Tęcza" was the first Catholic literary, cultural and social magazine edited by the laity. It was initially a weekly (I927-I93I) and then a monthly (I932-I939). The editors were respectively: Szczepan Jeleński, Emil Zegadłowicz, Jerzy Drobnik and Józef Kisielewski, who deserves the greatest credit for his work. The publisher of the magazine was the then influential Księgarnia św. Wojciecha (St. Adalbert Bookstore).The „Tęcza" magazine was open to authors of various literary orientations, including West European Catholic thought and literature (Claudel, Mauriac, Chesterton, Bloy, Maritain, von le Fort). Attention was paid to the moral dimension of the published texts. As a monthly it became less elitist.

During the Spanish Civil War the Catholic Church in Poland sided with General Francisco Franco. The reasons behind such an attitude should be sought in repression against the Spanish clergy by Spain’s left-wing government and in the attitude of the Holy See, which had given its blessing to the rebellion already in September 1936. The Church in Poland saw the Spanish Civil War in black and white. Everything associated with the left-wing Republic was shown as the greatest evil, anti-civilization, Satan’s domain. The Francoists, on the other hand, were usually presented in a positive light, as twentieth-century crusaders fighting in the name of Christian civilization.

The Catholic church is an important actor on the political scene in Poland and its influence is visible- directly and indirectly. The article describes the issue and explains how the Catholic Church in Poland as an institution, as well as its clergy leaders,  refers to political conflict which was visible after the introduction the reform of the judiciary system in 2017. The main aim of the article is the reconstruction of the Catholic church’s clergy position on the reform of the judiciary in 2017. The article consists of four parts. The first on is focused on the theoretical consideration what the conflict is. The  second one suggests different interpretations of this conflict in Poland in 2017. The third part includes the official statements and speeches the clergy leaders of Polish Catholic church which refer to the reform of the judiciary in Poland. Moreover, this part also includes the position of the Apostolic See to this conflict. The last part are shown the voices of the journalists who considered the Catholic church attitude towards the conflict and the reform of the judiciary in Poland. The author, on the based on the collected materials about the issue, answers the essential questions: 1/ How does the Catholic church’s leaders define the political conflict in Poland? 2/ What was the Catholic church role in this conflict and how it was seen by the clergy? 3/ What was the Polish clergy attitude to the reform and the conflict? Moreover, were it an unambiguous position or appeared the voices of clergy who were against the official statements of the Catholic’s leaders? 4/ How reacted the public opinion, some journalists and politicians to the Catholic clergy official statement? 5/ What kind of consequences are, or can be in the future, of this particular Catholic church’s attitude to the reform of the judiciary in Poland 2017?

The aim of this article is to present the reactions of the Polish and German press to the death of Pope John Paul II, compare and analyze them. This approach allows to understand the differences between Polish and German perception of religion, particularly Christianity and the Catholic Church. Poland and Germany have different religious traditions, a different relationship to the church and to church dogma, rituals and piety. This may be observed as the different ways of looking at the death of Pope John Paul II in Polish and German newspapers.Probably these perceptual differences ensued from the paternal figure of the John Paul II and special emotional Polish attitude to the deceased Polish Pope.

Opis:
Religious advertising as a kind of religious persuasive communication based on the element of the sacred is a Polish phenomenon. The article presents studies on religious advertising, its definition and typology and reception by select social groups. This kind of advertising confirms not only Hjelm’s concept of the visibility of religion, as it exists in both the media and public sphere, but also David Herbert’s concept of republicisation. In a country without a clear division between State and the Church, despite a well-researched decline in traditional religiosity, religion is visible in social media and facilitates development of human relationships, both online and offline. Commercial media, including the Catholic ones, seem to be perfectly subjugated to the logic of media, which supports Stig Hjarvard’s process of mediatization of religion.

The article sums up the anti-gender campaign of 2013–2014 launched in Poland by the Catholic Church and right-wing politicians. The situation is presented with reference to the Croatian „Witches from Rio” case of 1992–1993 in order to demonstrate similarities of the two backlash discourses, both in the choice of rhetorics and topics (e.g. international conspiracy, deviated sexuality, national treason, violation of the natural social order). Finally, the author attempts to diagnose the impact that the campaign has had so far on various gender-focused projects (both in research and teaching) conducted in and outside academia in Poland.

The following paper suggests that the visitation records of churches and parishes from the Old Polish period be held in the structure of the fonds of diocesan historical archives (storing). This issue is omitted both in theory and practice of diocesan archives in Poland due to difficulties (or, as many claim-impossibility) in applying the principle of provenance to the production of the episcopal chancery during the period of functioning the book of inscriptions. So far, only the Rev. Stanisław Librowski has suggested the project to solve this problem. This project, however, does not fully respect, acknowledged in the archival science, the principle of provenance.

Crisis management principles that have been in place and proven for decades by commercial companies and corporations, tested at great expense, apply equally to all non-commercial entities, governmental, religious, political, as well as to individuals. There is no deviation from them, as crises in today’s world are determined by the media, not the entity or institution itself. Every crisis can become an opportunity for change, strengthening, improvement, purification and even victory. The condition is a professional approach to the problem. A crisis can also be the beginning of the end, a failure. The biggest enemy of success in this situation is lack of knowledge how to act properly, mistakes in communication and management of resources. However, avoiding responsibility, hiding facts, manipulating information, being too quick and inconsiderate, resorting to falsehood, hypocrisy, and calculated behaviour will not facilitate success either. The article will analyse the institutional actions of the Catholic Church in Poland for the protection of children and adolescents in the context of the classical principles of crisis management applied in a crisis.

This thesis is a study of the role of Andrei Šeptytsky, the Metropolitan of the Ukrainian GreekCatholic Church, in discussions on articles of the Concordat between the Apostolic See and Poland. The archival documents proved a particular involvement of Šeptytsky in preparation of the concordat’s articles dealing with the Church’s property and financial independence. In those endeavors, Šeptytsky was concerned not only with the interests of his Greek-catholic clergy, but with the welfare of Catholic clergy in all Polish eparchies, advocating further independency of the Church from state authorities.

Mobbing can be described as an important social problem, but also an urgent theological and pastoral issue, which in the Church is a close combination of spirituality and power, conducive to silencing both the person being intimidated and witnesses. Also, taking into account the effects of mobbing in ecclesial circles, it must be stated that they leave much more serious consequences than those faced by people employed in other organizations as they lead to strong internal tensions and suffering not only psychological, but above all spiritual. In this context, the aim of this article is a theoretical analysis of the phenomenon of mobbing, i.e. outlining its main characteristics and manifestations (also of a spiritual and religious nature) in the Church and its subordinate institutions. It is also to develop a catalogue of practical implications that could form the basis for creating a future-oriented and, possibly effective, system of intra-church anti-mobbing prevention.
