The article discusses cyberpoetry as a category of avant-garde writing. The author proves that cyberpoertry should not be regarded as modern avant-garde writing, because modern culture does not follow the avant-garde cultural and aesthetic norms (such as novelty, originality). The fact that cyberpoetry applies some avantgarde aesthetic tools (collage and montage) must be regarded as non- avant-garde continuation.

Opis:
In the article, the author analyses the satirical works by Julian Tuwim published in his poetic collections. By indicating the strong bonds between poetry and satire in the poet’s works, the author explains the phenomenon of the unwavering topicality of Tuwim’s satire having generalising ambitions. She has considered the poet’s masterful combination of the poetic perspective with the attitude of a satirist as a factor which enables the generalisation of the critical diagnosis. However, she argues that the universal dimension of his wide-scope satirical works is mainly determined by the poet’s worldview-based horizons, which constituted the point of reference for his critical evaluation of the existing social reality, which exposed the destructive influence of a community on an individual. She also stated that he was able to peer deep into the mentality of the mindless members of the “tyrannous community” by virtue of his distance towards himself, in turn being the result of his sense of the absurdity of his own existence.

The paper is an attempt to compare the artistic vision of the Carpathian Mountains in the poetry of the two outstanding authors. It has been made with reliance on the analysis of several significant aspects that might be noticed in both cases. They encompass such questions as, for instance, remaining in a given place and creating beauty in its spiritual/material dimensions as well as the historical existing of this area together with its inhabitants. The comparative fathoming of numerous poems and other poetic forms indicates decisive similarities between the two authors’ ways of artistic expression whose essential and one of the most original components is an exceptional capability of metaphorising presented world.

Polish and Ukrainian poetry on World War I have much in common: they were written mainly by soldier-poets, young men fighting in the Polish Legions or the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen. This poetry is, first of all, a patriotic legitimation of the war as a way of regaining political independence. Heroism and suffering for the fatherland are dominating issues. Nevertheless, besides this pathetic gesture, we can find voices that point out the horror of war and question it at all. Such criticisms is expressed by certain motives, which appear in both the Legions’ and the Sich Riflemens’ poetry, like: fratricide, lists from soldiers to their families at home, devastation of nature and culture, autumn and death, as well as pacifist notions. These voices do not form any dominant discourse in the poetry on World War I, but they are not to be ignored, as they mark a common place in the Polish and Ukrainian literature at this time, which has not been researched until now.

The article concerns the occurrences of the lexeme soul in contemporary Polish poetry. Due to the extensive amount of material available for analysis, it concentrates on volumes that were awarded or nominated in the selected Polish poetry contests in 2010–2015 (Wisława Szymborska Award, “Nike” Literary Award, “Silesius” Wrocław Poetry Award, Kościelscy Award, “Orfeusz” K. I. Gałczyński Poetry Award, “Gdynia” Literary Prize and “Złoty Środek Poezji” Award). The article presents the contexts of occurrence of the lexeme dusza (soul), as well as the related lexemes duch (spirit) and duszyczka (small soul – animula), it characterizes the term in relation to its both religious and non-religious aspects, and shows what functions it serves in poetic texts.
Artykuł dotyczy wystąpień leksemu dusza w najnowszej poezji polskiej. Z uwagi na zakres materiału dostępnego do analizy rozważania skupiają się na tomach nagrodzonych lub nominowanych do nagród w wybranych ogólnopolskich konkursach poetyckich w latach 2010–2015 (Nagroda im. Wisławy Szymborskiej, Nagroda Literacka „Nike”, Wrocławska Nagroda Poetycka „Silesius”, Nagroda Fundacji im. Kościelskich, Nagroda Poetycka im. K. I. Gałczyńskiego „Orfeusz”, Nagroda Literacka „Gdynia” oraz Nagroda „Złoty Środek Poezji”). W artykule przedstawione są konteksty pojawiania się leksemu dusza oraz leksemów pokrewnych: duch i duszyczka, charakterystyka tego pojęcia z uwzględnieniem aspektów religijnych i niereligijnych, a także funkcje, jakie zyskuje ono w tekstach poetyckich.

The author discusses a new feature, which develops in Julia Hartwig’s poetry after her several visits to the States in the years 1970-1974 and her immediate introduction to the American verse - through reading and translating. In Hartwig’s poetry, new mundane lyrical situations appear and her verse becomes much more concrete, but also voyeuristic. Some analyses of excerpts from her Dziennik amerykański [American Diary] and Wiersze amerykańskie [Americana] are provided, as well as of The Young Housewife by William Carlos Williams in Polish translations done by Hartwig, Piotr Sommer, and Stanisław Barańczak.
Autorka opisuje nowy rys, który pojawił się w liryce Julii Hartwig po tym, jak począwszy od lat 70. XX wieku, odbyła kilka dłuższych i krótszych wizyt w Stanach Zjednoczonych, gdzie zaczęła czytać i tłumaczyć poezję amerykańską. W poezji Hartwig pojawiły się nowe, bardziej przyziemne sytuacje liryczne, a sama poezja stała się bardziej nasycona konkretem, choć także voyeurystyczna. W artykule zostają przywołane i zinterpretowane wyimki z Dziennika amerykańskiego oraz Wierszy amerykańskich Hartwig, a także liryk Williama Carlosa Williamsa The Young Housewife w oryginale i przekładach Hartwig, Piotra Sommera i Stanisława Barańczaka.

The article fits in the research on Polish digital poetry. It presents two realisations of digital poetry – wiersz numer 1 beta by M.R. Wiśniewski and Read more+ by P.P. Płucienniczak, focusing on aspect of work’s structural shape and possibilities of the user, given within interactive actions programmed by the author. The issues of the article are concentrated on interactive possibilities of work created in new media environment, especially on status of author and addresser, which is connected with interactivity phenomenon. Deliberations about the interactivity are based on works of Ryszard W. Kluszczyński, whereas changes made in poetry thanks to characteristics of new media were referred from works of such researchers as Urszula Pawlicka and Mariusz Pisarski. Deliberations on digital message refer mainly to works of Ewa Szczęsna. Two examples analyzed in the article represents different approaches of explorative potential of Polish digital poetry. Wiśniewski’s wiersz numer 1 beta, made in convention of game, includes the addresser as user-player in the process of work’s creation. Płucienniczak’s Read more+ is the example of intentional resignation of possibilities given by interactive actions.
Artykuł wpisuje się w badania nad polską poezją cyfrową. Przedstawia analizę dwóch realizacji poezji cyfrowej – wiersza numer 1 beta Michała Radomiła Wiśniewskiego i Read more+ Piotra Puldziana Płucienniczaka, skupiając się na aspekcie strukturalnego ukształtowania utworu oraz możliwościach odbiorcy-użytkownika, jakie w ramach zaprojektowanych działań interaktywnych otrzymuje on od autora. Problematyka artykułu koncentruje się wokół zagadnień interaktywnych możliwości utworów powstających w środowisku nowych mediów, przede wszystkim zaś wokół statusu autora i odbiorcy, z czym wiąże się zjawisko interaktywności. Ustalenia dotyczące tego pojęcia oparte zostały na pracach Ryszarda W. Kluszczyńskiego, natomiast zmiany, jakie dokonały się w poezji za sprawą właściwości nowych mediów, przywołano na podstawie publikacji takich badaczy jak Urszula Pawlicka i Mariusz Pisarski. Rozważania dotyczące przekazu cyfrowego zreferowano głównie za Ewą Szczęsną. Analizowane w artykule dwa utwory cyfrowe to przykłady różnych kierunków potencjału eksploracyjnego polskiej poezji cyfrowej. Wiersz numer 1 beta Wiśniewskiego, zrobiony w konwencji gry, włącza odbiorcę jako użytkownika-gracza w proces powstawania utworu. Read more+ Płucienniczaka to z kolei przykład świadomej rezygnacji z możliwości, jaką dają interaktywne działania.

This article proposes some considerations on a particular variation of the elegiac mood represented by and manifested in lyrical farewells of departing mothers. A review of the variants commences with an analysis of a particularly important work by Tadeusz Różewicz written at the beginning of this century — Matka odchodzi. The book was, at the time, a particular reference point for the following poetic volumes in which the theme of the death of the poet’s mother was paramount and significant. The article also focuses on volumes of poems, written by poets that belonged to different generations but shared the same date of publication, i.e. the year 2009. Both clear similarities and marked differences in the actual commitment in carrying out the theme and in creating the profiles of mothers that have passed away are to be found in the works of Piotr Sommer (Dni i noce), Jan Polkowski (Cantus) and Eugeniusz Tkaczyszyn-Dycki (Piosenka o zależnościach i uzależnieniach).

The article is a cross-sectional study that analyses contemporary Polish poets’ metapoetic reflections on anthroponormative language and their ways of elaborating alternative ways of representing animals. They often unveil oppressive animalistic metaphors, i.a. writting as hunting, and create less obvious ones, for example the poem as an animal. This kind of image commits both the author and the reader of the poem to care – they are both somehow obligated not to objectify animals in their interpretations. By referring to poems (written by Magdalena Bielska, Stanisław Grochowiak, Ryszard Krynicki, Piotr Matywiecki, Krystyna Miłobędzka, Jacek Podsiadło, Wisława Szymborska, Eugeniusz Tkaczyszyn-Dycki) and inspiring essays by Tadeusz Sławek, the author of this article formulates and leads out a concept of post-koine, which is a language critical towards any too narrow idea of the community (koine), the language of a new interspecies community, an inclusive language devoid of violence against animals.

The article analyzes the ballad Czaty by Adam Mickiewicz, which has so far received little critical attention. If it was discussed, though, the reason was merely its experimental verse form of the anapaest and the work’s stylistic merit. Aiming to re-interpret Mickiewicz’s poem, the author of the article concentrates on the narratorial voice and the connections between the literary characters (the voivode, his young wife, the lover, and the voivode’s Cossack servant—Nauman). She also underscores the driving force behind the unfolding events. The reading reveals that the characters act upon sudden affective reactions which they can hardly control.

The aim of the article is the attempt to read anewZbigniew Herbert’s poems. The commonly accepted interpretations in Polish literary discourse place them in the context of realistic paradigm. Meanwhile the model of cognition in the poet’s works is not so clear. It is possible to understand it in the constructivist way, taking into consideration Herberts own view that cognition has always active, dynamic, sensual and linguistic character. Ttherefore, it may be perceived as the correlate of languaging/linguistic behaviour of H. Maturana and E. von Glasersfeld.

The article is a proposal for a new interpretation of Herbert’s erotic poems from a collection entitled Podwójny oddech [Double Breath], whose illegal publication caused confusion among readers and literary scholars. In addition to legal matters, the discussion also concerned the artistic level of this collection of poetry. The author draws attention firstly – to the conscious compositional idea in the Podwójny oddech, secondly – to a series of intertextual references that testify to the poet’s reading, thirdly – to the poet’s attempt to find the proper poetic language to express the love experiences and fourthly – to a specific, shaped by religious schemes, philosophy of love.
