    The report concerns the principal assumptions and the first phase of the pro-ject entitled Supporting integration of foreigners in the Silesian Voivodeship, implement-ed thanks to co¬ financing obtained from the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund. The text describes the activities undertaken by the main partners of the project, i.e. the Silesian Voivodeship Office and the School of Polish Language and Culture of the University of Silesia in Katowice. The report includes de-tailed information on linguistic and cultural education of adults and children, including a summing up of the most important content taught during Polish language classes, allowing the project participants to function more easily with-in the Polish environment.

    The article presents an analysis of 140 random lexemes of Greek and Latin origin excerpted from Słownik kieszonkowy polsko-rosyjski i rosyjsko-polski [Pocket Polish-Russian and Russian-Polish Dictionary] edited by I. Mitronova, G. Sinicyna and G. Lipkes. The corpus is, according to lexicographers and linguists, an effect of mutual influences of Polish and Russian languages. The opinions on origins of words differ among researchers, and the article attempts to verify the previously accepted judgements by M. Vasmer, W. Witkowski and Z. Rysiewicz, based on informations included in monographs by D. Moszyńska, H. Leeming, S. Kochman, and in historical dictionaries of both languages. With reference to almost 75% of the analysed material, the direction of loanword acquisition proposed by Vasmer, Witkowski and Rysiewicz has been confirmed. However, for about a quarter of the random sample of words, the accepted opinion is not confirmed by more recent historical dictionaries, nor by the lexical material provided in the monographs. The article proposes new results for the direction of loanword migration in this group of vocabulary.

    According to unofficial data from the Polish Consulate in The Hague, there are currently around 30 Polish and Polonia’s schools in the Netherlands. The way they operate, both in legal and educational terms, are different. This article is an attempt to categorize them. In addition, this article characterizes the existing schools by dividing them into four categories – school consultation points linked with Polish diplomatic missions, schools associated in the Polish Schools’ Forum in the Netherlands, schools operating at parishes and non-affiliated ones. According to the Dutch Planning Office, there are currently 250,000 Poles in the Netherlands. The representatives of the Polish Consulate in The Hague estimate that there may be up to 40,000 children among people of Polish descent who live in the Netherlands. Only about 2,000 of them attend Polish and Polonia’s schools. This article is the beginning to understand why only 5% of children of Polish origin who live in the Netherlands attend schools that look after Polish language.

    Celem artykułu było przedstawienie procesu edukacji dwujęzycznej w rodzinie polonijnej mieszkającej w Niemczech na podstawie badań przeprowadzonych wśród dorosłych przedstawicieli drugiego pokolenia migrantów. Tło do prezentacji wyników badań stanowi omówienie specyfiki funkcjonowania rodzin polonijnych w Niemczech oraz podstaw teorii edukacji dwujęzycznej w ujęciu interdyscyplinarnym. Przegląd literatury przedmiotu oraz analiza wyników badań pozwala na sformułowanie rekomendacji w zakresie rozwijania pełnej dwujęzyczności dziecka oraz pielęgnowania relacji z kulturą polską i niemiecką poprzez odpowiednią edukację językową w domu.
    The aim of the article is to present the process of bilingual education in a Polish diaspora family living in Germany on the basis of research conducted among adult representatives of the second generation of migrants. The background for the presentation of the research results will be the discussion of the specificity of the functioning of Polish diaspora families in Germany and the basics of the theory of bilingual education in an interdisciplinary approach. The review of the literature on the subject and the analysis of the research results will allow for the formulation of recommendations in the field of developing a child's full bilingualism and nurturing relationships with Polish and Polish culture through appropriate language education at home.

    W artykule autorka analizuje dyskurs czeskich i polskich forów internetowych po wypadku statku Aquarius w czerwcu 2018 r. Wykorzystuje metodę analizy, aby połączyć wszystkie komentarze w jeden heterogeniczny tekst i pokazać, jak wygląda dyskusja na temat migracji w większości społeczeństwa eurosceptycznego Europy Wschodniej (Republika Czeska) i w większości społeczeństwa eurooptymistycznego (Polska). Analiza dyskursu wraz z analizą frekwencyjną (oprogramowanie AnrConc) pokazuje, że pomimo różnic między Czechami i Polakami oba narody czują się częścią społeczności europejskiej. Pokazano również, że w obu krajach istnieje silna potrzeba znalezienia irracjonalnych wyjaśnień kryzysu migracyjnego.
    A paper is focusing on discourse analysis of Czech and Polish internet discussions after case of Aquarius ship in June 2018. Author is using discourse analysis to merge all comments in one heterogenic text and to show how discussion about migration looks like in case of most Eurosceptic society of Eastern Europe (Czech Republic) and in most Eurooptimist society (Poland). Discourse analysis together with tools of quantitative analysis (software AnrConc) shows that despite differences between Czechs and Poles, both nations feels themselves as part of European community. It was shown as well, that in both nations there is strong need to find irrational explanations of migrant crisis

    The present article discusses the role of adult migrants to Wales in the country’s demographics and maintenance and promotion of the Welsh language. The Welsh society is an ageing society, predicted in the long run to rely on immigration as a solution to the socio-economic problems of the demographic decline. At the same time, the Welsh Government (WG) is strongly invested in revitalising the Welsh language through legislation and policies. The WG acknowledges that immigration is a challenge for the Welsh language and emphasises the role of new speakers in its revitalisation and maintenance. Drawing on data from two ethnographic studies in Wales, I discuss the experiences of Polish adult migrants with Welsh, their motivations to learn it and their attitudes and ideologies towards the language. I also provide recommendations for adjustments in language planning on the micro-level.
    Niniejszy artykuł omawia rolę dorosłych migrantów na terenie Walii w demografii kraju oraz w zachowaniu i promocji języka walijskiego. Społeczeństwo walijskie jest społeczeństwem starzejącym się, co oznacza, że zgodnie z przewidywaniami będzie w dłuższej perspektywie polegało na imigracji jako rozwiązaniu społeczno-ekonomicznych problemów niżu demograficznego. Jednocześnie rząd walijski jest mocno zaangażowany w rewitalizację języka walijskiego poprzez ustawodawstwo i prowadzoną politykę. Rząd przyznaje, że imigracja stanowi wyzwanie dla języka walijskiego i podkreśla rolę nowych użytkowników w jego rewitalizacji i zachowaniu. W oparciu o dane z dwóch badań etnograficznych przeprowadzonych w Walii artykuł omawia doświadczenia dorosłych imigrantów z Polski z językiem walijskim, ich motywacje do nauki oraz postawy i ideologie wobec języka. Przedstawia również zalecenia dotyczące korekt w planowaniu języka (ang. language planning) na poziomie mikro.
