Opis:
In this conceptual paper, we examine the Mosaic Approach (MA), a participatory research methodology that positions children as active contributors rather than mere subjects. This approach employs a variety of tools, including observations, interviews, photography, map-making, and child-led tours, to capture the rich and varied experiences of children. By treating children as co-constructors of knowledge, the MA acknowledges their capacity to make substantial contributions to research that affects their lives and environments. Central to this methodology is the ethical focus on children's rights to participation and expression, guided by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. It ensures that children's perspectives are not only heard but also significantly influence research outcomes. This paper explores both the theoretical underpinnings and practical applications of the MA, illustrating how it shifts traditional power dynamics between children and adults in research settings and allows children's insights to shape the study's direction and findings. The flexibility of the MA across various contexts highlights its effectiveness in harnessing children's potential and enriching research with their insights. Advocating for its broader adoption, this paper presents the MA as a robust framework for engaging with the complexities of childhood, promoting a more inclusive and comprehensive exploration of children's lives and perspectives.
