W artykule poruszono problematykę ekonomicznych aspektów innowacji ergonomicznych w sektorze polskich małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw. W części pierwszej dokonano literaturowej analizy istoty innowacji oraz innowacji ergonomicznych. W części drugiej opracowania określono zewnętrzne i wewnętrzne determinanty działalności innowacyjnej małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw. Następnie zaprezentowano pilotażowe wyniki badań jakościowo-ilościwych przeprowadzonych w 2014 r. pośród 64 MŚP. Badania miały na celu określenie ekonomicznych aspektów innowacji ergonomicznych, które są jednym z kluczowych czynników budowania konkurencyjności i wartości firmy. W ostatniej części artykułu zamieszczono krótkie podsumowanie poruszonej problematyki badawczej.
The article addresses the problem of the economic aspects of ergonomic innovations in the sector of small and medium sized Polish businesses. In the first part we made literature analysis of the nature of innovation and ergonomic innovations. Second part of the article defines external and internal determinants of innovative activity of small and medium-sized enterprises. As the next step, pilot results of a quality-quantity research was presented that was conducted in 2014 among 64 SMEs. The study aimed to determine the economic aspects of innovation, ergonomics, which is one of the key factors to build competitiveness and goodwill. The last part of the article includes a short summary of the issues discussed.

Specyfika funkcjonowania MŚP powoduje, że przedsiębiorstwa należące do tego sektora stają się szczególnie podatne na negatywne skutki występowania różnego rodzaju zakłóceń. Zmiany zachodzące w otoczeniach bliższym oraz dalszym wyznaczają obszar zakłóceń, na który przedsiębiorstwo jest narażone. Wewnętrzna sytuacja przedsiębiorstwa, m.in. charakter realizowanych procesów, wykorzystywanych technologii czy też zasobów również stanowią źródło potencjalnych zagrożeń. W związku z powyższym nasuwa się pytanie czy małe i średnie przedsiębiorstwa stosują działania, które minimalizują skutki zakłóceń? W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań przeprowadzonych w 593 przedsiębiorstwach sektora MŚP, działających na terenie województwa śląskiego. Badania dotyczyły stopnia wdrożenia zarządzania ryzykiem w tych przedsiębiorstwach.
The specificity of small and medium enterprises means that enterprises belonging to this sector are particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of the presence of various kinds of interference. Changes in the business environment closer and to further define the area of interference, for which the company is exposed. The internal situation of the company among others the nature of the processes, technologies, or resources are also a source of potential risks. Therefore, the question arises whether small and medium-sized companies use measures that minimize the effects of interference? The article presents the results of research carried out in 593 small and mediumsized manufacturing companies operating in the province of Silesia. Research related to the degree of implementation of risk management in these companies.

Celem artykułu jest scharakteryzowanie sytuacji MSP (małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw) w okresie spowolnienia gospodarczego, w kontekście możliwości ich rozwoju. Przedsiębiorstwa MSP odgrywają dziś istotną rolę w kształtowaniu gospodarki narodowej. Ich rozwój jest determinowany przez liczne czynniki zarówno wewnętrzne, jak i zewnętrzne. Spowolnienie gospodarcze, jako czynnik ograniczający rozwój przedsiębiorstw, znacznie wpływa na zmianę warunków, w których funkcjonują.
The purpose of this paper is to characterize the conditions for the growth of SMEs (small and medium enterprises) during economic slowdown. Nowadays SME enterprises play a significant role in the national economy. Their growth is determined by many internal and external factors. The economic slowdown, as a factor limiting growth of enterprises, significantly affect the change of conditions in which they operate.

The Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of all the major economies around the world. Majority of these industries are facing tough environment for existence. The present study explored the most common and easily implementable Lean Tools/Techniques amongst the SMEs. This has been achieved via a detailed survey of SMEs in India. Study concludes with nine most common Lean Tools/Techniques implemented across the surveyed population of Indian SMEs.

Opis:
Purpose: The study explores how the disruption caused by Covid-19 has influenced the innovativeness of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Poland. It aims to show the examples of innovative ideas introduced by SMEs in times of pandemic to overcome the obstacles that appeared due to fluctuations in the demand and supply because of Covid-19. Design/methodology/approach: The study draws on a qualitative research design and uses case studies. We chose three small and two medium-sized Polish firms specializing in different business areas for analysis. Findings: The analysed organizations due to Covid-19 introduced innovations mainly focused on IT solutions. All of the firms have begun to offer remote work. Moreover, they implemented a new work organization system and a new customer service system. In all cases, the new solutions will be maintained and developed after the end of the pandemic. Research limitations/implications: The study uses five case studies. Practical implications: The outcomes of the study can motivate entrepreneurs to implement innovations as the case studies may inspire them. Moreover, the successes of presented SMEs may convince entrepreneurs that introducing innovations is not difficult and that the effects of innovative changes are measurable and visible in a short time. Thus, they may be encouraged to take action to overcome obstacles in their surroundings. Originality/value: The study develops the knowledge concerning the innovation process in companies in an uncertain, unstable and unpredictable environment.

The objective of this paper is determining the effect of environment on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Particularly, the paper is focused on the effects of environmental factors (market turbulence, technological turbulence and competitive intensity) on innovativeness, information technology (IT) capability and firm performance. The research is based on data from 109 Silesian SMEs.

Lean practices are implemented in manufacturing enterprises to find hidden waste and attain continuous improvement. Various enterprises have experienced benefits owing to the Lean implementation. Following the use of appropriate lean instruments and techniques, there are many factors that affect successful lean implementation process. Researchers have identified a large number of these success factors to implementation of Lean. Understanding these enablers and the interactions between them can be crucial to the success of lean implementation. Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) is one of the established methodologies to bring forward the interrelationships among parameters of an issue or a problem. The purpose of this paper is to create the hierarchy of the various success factors to Lean Implementation according to their importance using the approach of ISM to facilitate Small and Medium enterprises (SMEs) across India.

The paper surveys topical issues of import substitution based on the potential of small and medium enterprises in oil and gas producing regions of the North under conditions of crisis and sanctions. It analyzes the activity of small and medium enterprises and proves the need of imported goods substitution with domestic ones in Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Yugra (region). The research sets strategic priorities for government support aimed at import substitution in small and medium enterprises. The objective of the research is to make economic assessment of small enterprises development in the oil and gas producing region under conditions of crisis and to prove strategic priorities of the government support for import substitution in Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Yugra. As the result the scientific research is supposed to make an economic development assessment of entrepreneurship in traditional industries of minor indigenous peoples of the North as one of the prospective ways of import substitution.
Niniejszy artykuł ma na celu zbadanie aktualnych zagadnień związanych z substytucją importu w oparciu o potencjał małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw w regionach z Północy produkujących ropę i gaz w warunkach kryzysu i sankcji. Analizuje działalność małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw oraz udowadnia potrzebę zastąpienia towarów importowanych krajowymi z Chanty-Mansyjskiego Okręgu Autonomicznego-Jurga. Badanie wyznacza strategiczne priorytety dla wsparcia rządowego mającego na celu substytucję importu w małych i średnich przedsiębiorstwach. Celem badań jest dokonanie oceny ekonomicznej rozwoju małych przedsiębiorstw w regionie produkcji ropy naftowej i gazu w warunkach kryzysu i udowodnienie strategicznych priorytetów rządowego wsparcia dla substytucji importu w Chanty-Mansyjskim Okręgu Autonomicznym-Yugra. W wyniku badań naukowych ma zostać dokonana ocena rozwoju gospodarczego przedsiębiorczości w tradycyjnych branżach mniejszości rdzennych mieszkańców Północy jako jeden z potencjalnych sposobów substytucji importu.

This paper presents the results of the study which analysed knowledge management in small and medium-sized enterprises in the Częstochowa powiat. A Model of Stages in Employee Knowledge Growth was developed as an evaluation tool. The activities and behaviours of employees concerning management of knowledge resources were also characterized in the context of current knowledge-based processes.
W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań w zakresie oceny stanu zarządzania wiedzą w polskich małych i średnich przedsiębiorstwach z powiatu częstochowskiego. Opracowano Model Etapów Wzrostu Wiedzy Pracowników stanowiący narzędzie oceny. Scharakteryzowano działania i zachowania pracowników w zakresie zarządzania zasobem wiedzy przedsiębiorstwa w kontekście istniejących procesów związanych z wiedzą.

Business process management in an enterprise is an approach to management that concentrates on optimizing the ways business processes in organisation’s run. The business process maturity of the organization is one of the success factors. From this perspective, the constant advancing the process maturity level is the relevant economic task and the area is still an important issue requiring investigation. The article presents the results of empirical research - the survey was conducted in 2015 on a group of 138 enterprises in Poland. The main aim of this article is the identification and analysis of business process maturity in small and medium-sized enterprises in Poland, as well as finding the areas that require the intensification of process management.
Zarządzanie procesami biznesowymi w przedsiębiorstwie jest podejściem do zarządzania, które koncentruje się na optymalizacji sposobów, w jakich przebiegają procesy biznesowe w organizacji. Dojrzałość procesów biznesowych w organizacji jest jednym z czynników sukcesu. Z tego punktu widzenia ciągłe pogłębianie poziomu dojrzałości procesów jest istotnym zadaniem ekonomicznym i obszar ten jest nadal ważnym zagadnieniem wymagającym badania. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań empirycznych - badanie zostało przeprowadzone w 2015 roku na grupie 138 przedsiębiorstw w Polsce. Głównym celem niniejszego artykułu jest identyfikacja i analiza dojrzałości procesów biznesowych w małych i średnich przedsiębiorstwach w Polsce, jak również znalezienie obszarów, które wymagają intensyfikacji zarządzania procesami.

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are fundamental to the economy of all countries, representing the majority, with a considerable contribution to GDP, as well as generating jobs; for this reason, it must seek to remain in the market. The objective is to analyze the impact of training on the organizational performance of SMEs in northwestern Mexico, applying the statistical technique of structural equations model (SEM-PLS); the research was conducted to 195, considering the commercial, industrial and services, is a quantitative study, descriptive, correlational, causal, using the statistical technique of structural equations with the SMART PLS 3.3.2 software, and not experimental cross-sectional. The alternative hypothesis is accepted, since training has an effect on the organizational performance of SMEs in northwestern Mexico. It is highly significant because there is very strong evidence of the causality of the mediating variable training on the organizational performance of SMEs with 99.9% reliability. Training has the greatest effect on organizational performance because each unit that increases training will have an effect of +0.453, being the variable with the greatest cause-effect impact on organizational performance in SMEs in northwestern Mexico.

Purpose: The objective of the paper is to study the impact of the global coronavirus pandemic on the standing of micro-enterprises in the Silesian Voivodeship. Design/methodology/approach: A study sample of 120 micro-enterprises from the Silesian Voivodeship has been selected. The study methods such as an interview and a survey have been used. A questionnaire has been used as a tool. The properly completed surveys have been obtained from 43 enterprises. Findings: It has been established that depending on the specific nature of a given enterprise and the area in which it operates, enterprises are, to varying degrees, susceptible to the impact of adverse factors related to the emergence of the global coronavirus pandemic, which, in turn, results in the differences in the standing of these enterprises. Research limitations/implications: In view of the small study sample, the studies carried out do not create a complete picture of the impact of the pandemic on micro-enterprises in the Silesian Voivodeship. They are rather a contribution to further studies. These should be conducted on the basis of a larger study sample. Originality/value: The global coronavirus pandemic which affected the world in the years 2019-2022 has left a strong mark on many aspects of human functioning, including pursuing business activity. It is important to gain knowledge on the impact of pandemic-related restrictions on the functioning of micro-enterprises in order to develop mechanisms to mitigate the adverse effects on entrepreneurship based on micro-enterprises.

Opis:
This paper focuses on the importance of sector small and medium enterprises (SME) in each economic system and necessity of support of development and of entrepreneurship of this sector. The first part deals with an analysis of development of quantitative parameters of SME through selected macroeconomic indicators and with present situation of development in EU and Slovakia. The main part analyses support of entrepreneurship of SME through EU funds and programmes and utilization of financing through EU funds in Slovakia in practice. In the end of the paper are outline new trends and ways of the financing of SME and its effects on international competitiveness and cooperation for SME in EU. (JEL: L26, G15, O11).
Artykuł koncentruje się na znaczeniu sektora małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw (MŚP) w każdym systemie gospodarczym i konieczności wspierania i rozwoju przedsiębiorczości w tym sektorze. Pierwsza część dotyczy analizy ilościowej rozwoju małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw wykorzystującej parametry wybranych wskaźników makroekonomicznych związanych z obecną sytuacją i rozwojem w UE i na Słowacji. Główna część prezentuje wsparcie przedsiębiorczości małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw w ramach funduszy i programów UE oraz wykorzystanie w praktyce finansowania z funduszy UE na Słowacji. Na końcu przedstawione są nowe trendy i zarys sposobów finansowania MŚP oraz ich wpływ na międzynarodową konkurencyjność i współpracę małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw w UE.
