Opis:: Both the form and the content of the Church’s original catechesis, as well as the preachers themselves and their personalities are ancient sources of homilies. The whole Bible is the foundation of both these sources – the homily and the preachers. This is an important point. The homily should be connected with both the Old Testament and the New Testament. The preacher should remind of the evangelical “father of the family”, who draws on his treasury and takes both “old” and “new” things. Hence he should go back to the Christian antiquity to remind the structure of the original homily, to learn about the homily of the beginnings of the Church, and in his preaching take into consideration the themes and contents used by the great preachers of the ancient Church. Without the knowledge of that preaching, without the will to follow those Church personalities, and finally without taking the trouble to constantly climb the ladder of gnosis, moral perfection and spiritual sanctification – there is no preaching God’s word, there is only propagation of one’s own thoughts, of one’s own wisdom. Human wisdom cannot leave ninety-nine listeners gathered at the pulpit for the sake of one sinner, who abandoned going to church a long time ago. Divine wisdom, Christ’s catechetical approach, do not fit this “custom”. Ancient catechesis often follows the footprints of Christ the Teacher, and this is why it is worth studying it and coming back to that practice of preaching the Gospel.

Opis:: The mystery nature of liturgy issues from the mystery nature of God’s Revelation that has its height in Jesus Christ. It is in liturgy that Christ’s salutary mystery is actualized. Owing to this, man can participate in Christ’s mystery, and the very mystery achieves its aim. The mystery nature of liturgical celebration is fulfilled in its being a reorientation of Christian life to the mystery of Christ and to participating in it. The mystery character of celebration is also warranted owing to its five dynamisms: remembrance, participation, presence and action of the Holy Spirit, and in consequence the presence and action of Christ-the Church, and reference to the heavenly liturgy. Owing to these dynamisms liturgy is not just educating people and cheering up their hearts, but it is supposed to become the meaning of their lives, an impersonated adoration. The truth about the mystery nature of liturgy is confirmed in the Church’s Tradition and teaching, as well as in the post-Caselian liturgical theology that achieves its most mature form in the Roman school. The mystery character of liturgy should be constantly discovered and emphasized both in ars celebrandi and in ars participandi of liturgy. It consists in the concentration of the Person of Jesus Christ and on the attitude of adoration. If liturgy in its mystery character is a continuation of the mystery of Jesus Christ by its actualization, the care for the mystery character of liturgy is the care for the growth of God’s Kingdom until its fulfillment in the Heavenly Kingdom. Also its language results from the mystery nature of liturgy. The proper and the only permissible language of liturgical celebration is the symbol and the sign, whose special kind is the uttered word.

Opis:: In the article the issue of community evangelization springing from the Church’s experience of communion is undertaken. In its initial part the concepts of evangelization and the Church’s communion are precisely defined. Then the author stresses that the Church by its nature has the character of community, which results from both the social nature of man and God’s idea to lead people to salvation not individually, but as a community. Small Christian communities have a special place in the work of evangelization, and it is in them that the Church’s shepherds see one of the most important signs of its revival. It is exactly them that allow to keep and develop faith in the modern world, and at the same time they become dynamic circles involved in evangelization. They give the world a testimony of unity and of Christian love. This love is expressed in preaching the truth of the Gospel, it is fed and consolidated by common celebration of liturgy, and it is made concrete by the service to all people, especially the ones afflicted with suffering.

Opis:: The article addresses the problem of the Church’s relationship to the world. Christians have always been aware that they have been sent into the world to preach the Gospel, with the consequent aim of transforming the world so that the kingdom of God initiated by Christ could be realised in it. Thus, the mission of Christ’s disciples had to involve engaging with the surrounding reality in its social, political, cultural and economic dimensions. The aim of this article will be to show how Christians understood and implement their participation in shaping the human world. It is quite apparent that Christians have always faced (up until today) a dilemma that can be summarised in the phrase: the Church between negation and acceptance of the world. The unravelling of this dilemma was influenced mainly by two factors. The first was the awaiting of the end of time, which was to be brought about by the final coming of the kingdom of God. This motif in shaping the attitude of Christians towards the world played a decisive role in the first generations of Christ’s disciples, although it was also significant in later centuries. The second factor was the legal status of Christianity — above all in the Roman Empire, where Christianity took its roots most deeply and spread most widely. With these initial assumptions in mind, the article first examines the question of Christians’ hope for the imminent arrival of the kingdom of God, which had a significant impact on their activity in the temporal world. In the next stage of consideration, the period in which the radical change in the legal status of Christianity took place at the time of Constantine the Great and his successors is examined. These transformations fundamentally altered the Church’s relationship to the world while the legal and social position of the Church formed at that time affected for centuries the manner in which the Church was present in the world. The consequences of the transformations of the Constantinian era have persisted essentially into modern times. The examination of this issue has become the subject of the final section of this article.

Opis:: Artykuł jest syntezą teologii aktualnego biskupa-emeryta Rzymu. Najpierw zostaje ukazana kwestia dla niej centralna: Chrystus obecny w Piśmie Świętym i w liturgii oraz Jego bliskość w Kościele i w Maryi. Następnie przedstawione zostały filary teologiczne i ontologiczne jego myśli, wśród których znajdują się osoba i uzupełniające elementy: miłość, prawda, piękno i nadzieja. Z myślą o głoszeniu orędzia chrześcijańskiego Ratzinger kładzie nacisk zarówno na wiarę, jak i na rozum, a z tej relacji wypływa jego spojrzenie na teologię, katechezę i przepowiadanie. Wreszcie w tym, co odnosi się do misji, interesujące wydają się jego stwierdzenia odnośnie do posługi kapłańskiej i Eucharystii (z tego wyłania się cała teologia ekumeniczna), stworzenia, religii i relacji Kościoła ze światem.
In these lines we offer a synthesis on the theology elaborated by the current bishop of Rome. We begin at the centre, with the central nuclei: Christ present in the Scripture and the liturgy, and his closeness to the Church and Mary. Later we deal with the theological and ontological pillars of his thought, in which we find love, truth, beauty and hope. Regarding the announcement of the Christian message, Ratzinger insists on faith and reason, and in this relationship we can deduce his ideas on theology, catechesis and preaching. Finally, with regard to the mission, his statements about the ministry and the Eucharist (here an ecumenical theology can be deduced), creation, other religions and the relationship between the Church and the world are of some note.

Opis:: The article presents a characteristic of defined ecclesiological models and it subjects to analysis their possible influence on some methodological questions in social moral theology, especially on the issue of the relation between the Church and the world. The dynamic changes within the Catholic ecclesiology during the recent century have resulted, inter alia, in working out several models of the relation between the Church and the world, sometimes ones excluding each other. The most important ones include models conventionally defined as theories of incarnationism (indirect participation), polarization (correlation), secularization (exclusivism), integral participation, critical participation, inglobalization (global absorption) and some trends of eschatologism. Analysis of the most important aspects of these theories or trends allows a better comprehension of the great vitality and significance of the problem of relation to the world in the life of the whole Church, having also controversial elements and ones that may give rise to misunderstandings.

Opis:: Family counseling institutions are an important part of the mission of the Evangelical Church in Germany. Their importance could be considered in two dimensions: firstly as a task of the church referring to the Greatest Commandment about love of one’s neighbors and secondly, as the way of the Church towards the contemporary society. The article intends to describe the structure of the evangelical counseling, its subjects and its features. The aim could be achieved by a deep scrutiny of particular institutions of Church counseling, their history, their requirements of cooperation with parishes and requirements for social workers. The subjects of evangelical counseling should be considered as a final point of the article as they are a picture of evangelical interpretations of contemporary phenomena of the world. Three of them: abortion, domestic and sexual violence and family crisis are of high importance. Theological and sociological guidelines are introduced into the article as they become the ground for the interpretation of both challenges to the contemporary world and the ways of facing them by the Church.

Natomiast w części praktycznej (nr 3) podaje konkretne celebracje liturgiczne, stanowiące duże wsparcie dla wybranych zagadnień, które są zaproponowane do omawiania we wspomnianych katechezach parafialnych.
This paper, in its theoretical part, depicts some questions contained in the Program Katechezy Parafialnej Młodzieży Szkół Ponadgimnazjalnych (“Programme of Parochial Catechesis for Secondary School Students”). They should be discussed at parochial catecheses (1). It also stresses the significance of liturgical celebrations in the catechesis (2). In its practical part (3) it provides concrete liturgical celebrations. They are considerable support for some questions that are proposed at parochial catecheses.

In dieser Weise weist die ganze Lehre des Papstes einen tiefgründigen personalistischen Charakter auf.

Opis:: One of the significant areas of social life, in which the Church has to fulfill its prophetic-critical function towards the world, is the domain of public life. The subject of the present study is an attempt to look at the presence and mission of the Church within social-political life. Albeit the character of academic analyses will touch the general view of the discussed issue in the light of the post-Conciliar teaching of the Church, but quite naturally some of the motifs had to touch directly the situation of the Church in the countries that from 1989 started a systemic transformation. A detailed analysis was made, among others, of the issues of the essence of genuine democracy, the relation of the Church to the state on the basis of the principle sana cooperation and the question about the way in which a challenge issued by the Church to the world and mundane reality should be introduced. The point here is making the choice that is not just apparent, between two ways of effecting social changes: the way of gradual reform and that of revolution.

Opis:: The article attempts to show the high status of ecclesial infrastructures in their work for the family. It reminds selected forms of the Church’s work in communities of special care serving the family, and points to the potential of support groups in resisting poverty and social exclusion of families; it also mentions contemporary examples of ecclesial networks. In the space of eighteen centuries ecclesial institutions were the main, and in a greater part of the period the only, current of aid to the family not only in the spiritual dimension, but also in many other ones – to mention the social, economic or medical areas only. No institution in our cultural circle has so much experience in supporting a man’s development both on the individual and social level as the Catholic Church. The Christian doctrine on charity determined the communities of the faithful to establish institutions supporting the development of man, and in modern terminology, centers for fighting poverty and social exclusion. Too little is done to point to Christian roots of accompanying a man in various aspects of his life.

Opis:: Polityczna teologia Dietricha Bonhoeffera, jednego z najbardziej popularnych i wpływowych teologów XX wieku, stanowi doktrynalną bazę jego walki przeciwko niemieckiemu państwu narodowo-socjalistycznemu. Bonhoeffer należał do ważniejszych postaci Kościoła Wyznającego (Bekennende Kirche), struktury, która funkcjonowała jako wewnętrzne opozycja wobec oficjalnej postawy Kościoła luterańskiego w Niemczech, sprzyjającej raczej Hitlerowi. Główny rysy teologii politycznej powstały w latach 1933-1936, a więc w okresie zdobywania władzy przez narodowych socjalistów. Bonhoeffer poddaje krytyce tradycyjne rozumienie Reformacyjnej doktryny relacji między państwem i Kościołem, przekazującej temu pierwszemu ogół kompetencji związanych z porządkiem ziemskim. Wskazuje na luterskie zastrzeżenie o granicy ludzkiego sumienia, której państwo nie może przekroczyć. Wprowadzone już w początkach rządów Hitlera „paragrafy aryjskie” oraz „zasada wodza”, a więc konkretne akty legislacyjne, radykalnie zaprzeczają chrześcijańskiemu Objawieniu. Zmuszają Kościół luterański jako instytucję, po raz pierwszy właściwie w historii, do wyjścia z układu podziału kompetencji, jaką tworzyła doktryna o dwóch Regimentach i do przeciwstawienia się władzy świeckiej. Polityczna teologia Bonhoeffera jest teoretycznym odbiciem myślenia społeczeństwa niemieckiego w latach trzydziestych. Jest również świadectwem teologa, który później rozwinie program radykalnej chrystologii we współczesnym świecie, a swoją postawę przypłaci życiem.

Opis:: In a detailed discussion the author presents the course of the first synodical assembly in the history of the Opole Diocese; he discusses the results of the Synod’s proceedings, that is the synodical statutes; and he takes a position on the contents of the annexes supplementing the statutes. In the conclusion the author points to the significance of the Synod for the presence and future of the Church in the Opole region.

Opis:: Artykuł prezentuje wyniki badań dotyczących reakcji Stolicy Apostolskiej wobec wybuchu wojny na Ukrainie w 2014 roku. Ukazane zostały liczne orędzia papieskie, listy, apele, przemówienia i rozmowy z przedstawicielami dyplomacji, które wskazują na aktywne prowadzenie dialogu w trakcie budzącego się konfliktu. Wskazano na inicjowanie przez przedstawicieli Stolicy Apostolskiej spotkań na arenie międzynarodowej, które poruszają kwestię pokoju na Ukrainie. Publikacja przedstawia także dialog oraz wspólne inicjatywy wspólnot wyznaniowych na Ukrainie, które inicjowane są przez Stolicę Apostolską. Podobnie jak wzajemne nauczanie, które jednoznacznie nawołuje do potępienia przemocy i zakończenia działań zbrojnych na Ukrainie. Zrealizowanie procesu badawczego ukazuje także współczesne zaangażowanie Stolicy Apostolskiej w przebieg aktualnych wydarzeń i zapewnienie pokoju na Ukrainie.
The article presents the results of research on the reaction of the Holy See to the outbreak of war in Ukraine in 2014. Numerous papal messages, letters, appeals, speeches and talks with representatives of diplomacy have been shown, which indicate active dialogue during the emerging conflict. The representatives of the Holy See initiated meetings in the international arena that dealt with the issue of peace in Ukraine. The publication also presents the dialogue and joint initiatives of religious com-munities in Ukraine, initiated by the Holy See. So is mutual teaching that unequivocally calls for a condemnation of violence and an end to hostilities in Ukraine. The implementation of the research process also shows the Holy See’s contemporary involvement in the current course of events and ensuring peace in Ukraine.
