Opis:: This article is an attempt at showing the relationship between the signs made by Jesus and human faith on the basis of the fourth gospel. In the first stage, the author carries out an analysis of the biblical word ,,sign ". He contends that, due to its deeper meaning, it should not be equated with a miracle. In the Bible ,,sign" refers to an act of God's intervention, aimed at leading man to faith. Further analyses reveal a specific understanding of the word ,,sign” as understood by the fourth evangelist. The signs made by Jesus do not impose faith on man but invite to it. The good will and openness on the part of man play a crucial role here.

Opis:: W niniejszym artykule została przeprowadzona analiza słów Jezusa o zniszczeniu i odbudowie świątyni zawartych w J 2,19. Na początku przeanalizowano znaczenie słów „burzyć” i ,,odbudować”. Wykazano, że nie mają one sensu fizycznego zniszczenia świątyni, oznaczają śmierć i zmartwychwstanie Jezusa. Następnie ukazano, że słowo ,,świątynia” zostało w tym miejscu użyte w odniesieniu do ciała Jezusa jako nowej przestrzeni obecności Boga. Przeprowadzone analizy wykazały, że słowa Jezusa należy rozumieć głębiej niż polecenie zniszczenia świątyni w Jerozolimie. W tych słowach Jezus przepowiedział swoją śmierć i zmartwychwstanie i wskazał, że od tej pory nie świątynia z kamienia, ale Jego ciało jest nowym miejscem obecności Boga.
This article has been carried out analysis of Jesus’ words about the destruction and rebuilding of the temple in John 2: 19. First analyzed the meaning of the words ,,demolish” and ,,rebuild”. It has been shown that they have no meaning of physical destruction of the temple, but it means the death and resurrection of Jesus. Later it has been shown the word ,,temple” means the body of Jesus as the new space the presence of God. The analyzes carried out showed that the words of Jesus must be understood more deeply than command the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem. By these words Jesus foretold his death and resurrection, and pointed out that from now not the temple of stone, but his body is a new place of God’s presence.
